Like speedway we go round in circles. The stox had a deal with the speedway. Speedway then withdrew the offer from what we have been told. What is the truth though? They all think they are in the right. For the hours he put in before Christmas trying to sort a deal.
-
After reading Jeremy Heavers comments in the save Coventry stadium page on FB it doesn't look like much has changed. Sandhu can't get a lease and Brandon Estates just seem to be holding out. Not quite sure why all the talks have dragged on this far, I guess it's a case of watch this space or a last minute change of heart and it gets sorted. P**sed of fans and I imagine one very annoyed councilor.
-
Not a fan then I take it 😬
-
With the offer of the sponsorship dead in the water then it looks bleak, will Brandon estates go into to discussions with somebody the called the law on? Feel for the riders, how are they meant to get sponsorship, bikes etc when they don't know where they stand.
-
Was he classed as a promoter last time or did that fall to Heaver?
-
He doesn't have to be directly involved, if you want to look for a new site and you own both sports it helps, Rugby want to keep speedway, stox is mentioned a little but the Bees are the key to this. still a needle in a haystack but we need a stadium and we have somebody who wants to build one. Even though he bloody sold the site so we are in this mess in the first place.
-
The statement given by Mick then stating all parties are still talking ? Brandon estates now from the statement they have given seem they are just as puzzled why the lease was not signed. Can Sandhu not just buy the Bees back, run stox and speedway with his facilities and put an end to this farce. BSPA say they are hopeful and optimistic Coventry will be running. Is panto season not over ?? If speedway/stox run at Coventry next season they should thank/apologise each and every person who goes through them turnstiles as this is just embarrassing, to drag the good name of our club and stadium through the gutter and have no thought about anybody but themselves, pound signs and ego's. Sure the rally cry will come to get behind the club... hand over our money and its like it never happened. Think attendances will show what people think to what they have done.

Doubt it, riders get dropped even with a contract all too quickly.
-
Does seem strange it can take so long for legal professionals to look at the contract document and see who is the rightful owner of the things taken. Of course I feel for fellow Coventry fans but also Councillor Stokes who put so much time and effort into trying to save the bees. The more you look at it you don't know who to trust, the only people who have come out with hard facts so far is Sandhu/Heaver regarding the contract agreement pulled by Horton and putting fixtures and fittings back into the stadium. Big statements to make and if it has all gone pear shaped then I think and expect some facts/evidence will eventually come out and see who was actually telling the truth.
-
I agree that Brandon Estates were not involved on the night of the talks but they had a good few days watching it all unfold and did nothing. The moment a seat was removed they should have called the police had they full confidence that it was not sandhu's to remove. Who would watch their house burgled and call the police a few days later?
-
The statement from the night of talks that was sandhu would put it back at his cost so if he caused a whole load of damage its only his own mess he is fixing. It may well be that cost that Brandon estates have come up with but say if he had 20/30 people working on the site for a week to 10 days I am sure it would soon take shape. Like the speedway star says its down to the definition of fixtures and fittings and the interpretation of it, I am sure it will be an 11th hour resolution and we roll onto the next issue. That or the place goes up in flames in mysterious circumstances.
-
Correct, that is what I meant, I do agree with your point on the leasehold. Why it had to change hands from person a to person b when the current lease was working ok, well it was until Horton was locked out. Was it too much to ask for somebody to say... right have another 3 years, the terms stay the same ... job done It was good to see Jacob Olsen with his comments, the more ex riders showing support behind the stadium and what it means to them also can only be a positive thing for the future and I hope more come forward,
-
Its the press so its as bad as here, what is true and what they want to think is true doesn't always matter. I am pretty sure Jeremy Heaver in the radio interview mentioned it, but not 100% sure. I totally agree that it would be easier to just say we do or we don't but while they are in a power struggle its not going to come out. I can't think for one second that if Brandon estates were seeing all this equipment being taken out why didn't they call the police at the time. It's all been a complete shambles.
-
1) I would imagine it's down to Sandhu and Brandon Estates to sort out, not to be shown to every tom, dick and harry. The public might want to know but they have no right to see it. 2) I am sure it was addressed a few times that Sandhu has no connection with Brandon estates, if he did do its a bloomin funny way to. Would it not be like calling the police on yourself? Its all very messy and doesn't bring anybody out of it looking good. makes the winter go quicker I suppose.
-
Not just the once it was agreed and he changed his mind and it couldn't be signed. Brandon Estates have the press do there talking, Jeremy Heaver has been the only person to say exactly what the state of play was with the radio interview he did. Mick has been very underhand with going back on the deal then not being around when it all kicked off, Brandon estates must have been aware that things were being taken so if they were so sure it was not Sandhu's to take why not call the police at the time? It can't be that complicated to work out who the fixtures belong too?
-
As no deal has been signed and with the press now being invited to look around the site, will Sandhu even want to sign a deal now? I will repeat that all this would have never had happened had Mick Horton stuck to the deals agreed with Sandhu, however with no Horton there would have been no speedway so it's a difficult one. However if the cost to put it back in is as mentioned if I was Sandhu I would say I'll put the stuff back in, now Mick you pay the running costs for the stadium as where does Mick stand in all this ? Sandhu was going to pay the running costs so he gets help there, The sky money helps another way then the landlords are also going to be behind the bees so be that a rent reduction or who knows what there is no big outlay from what I can see so be it very clever or very strange I don't know as the person offering the least is running the place? How can that be right.
-
Yeah !! Speedway promotion running the place 😬
-
Neither, Brandon estates sit on a site making no money and many pee'd off supporters. Sandhu gets no stock car income from Brandon, it can be taken on the road but Brandon is a top location for stox. Add Horton with 7 contracted riders so all have an interest to find a solution short term. Long term Horton will need Sandhu's support as if a new stadium is built then Horton will need to agree terms for speedway and if recent weeks are to go by then that's going to be interesting. But getting a new site is going to be so important as we need it in the next 6-12 months to get it built etc. I doubt the councillor will continue to get involved in the madness.

A Summary Of Problems
Coventry_Bee replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It sure would have been ideal, If over the years some of the sky money had been held back and used more wisely then maybe Coventry could have been purchased or a some joint venture rather than it being sold to developers. The only saving grace for Coventry is a compulsory purchase order which is highly unlikely. -
https://coventryobserver.co.uk/news/coventry-racing-club-confirms-contractors-are-ready-to-return-speedway-venue-to-its-original-state/ As I mentioned yesterday its strange that somebody would pay for 24hr security on land not owned or leased anymore? Or more to the point how could you if you don't have the keys? Although he sold the stadium I do think Mr Sandhu/Heaver would be better fit to be taking on the lease again rather than Mick Horton. They own the equipment needed, they have the finance and sound like they would foot the running costs anyway so what Horton would actually be responsible for I have no idea. It does seem like its Mick and Brandon Estates vs Sandhu/Heaver. More fun and games to come I am sure
-
Having just read the speedway star, did I read it correctly that Sandhu is still paying for 24hr security on the site until 1st January?
-
I'll think you will find many find Horton partly responsible for this. As in the radio interview by Heaver, had he just stuck to the deal agreed with even Sandhu footing the running costs then nothing would ever have been removed. Add this to the deal struck a few weeks ago where Sandhu agreed to put it all in good order why on earth would Brandon estates be concerned with the state of the place, they just want the land. Calling in the police when it's going to be fixed does what? It's a merry go round of who is the bad guy Sandhu - sold it, should have had plan b in place before it was sold. Gutting the stadium Brandon Estates- Have kept in the background till now, looking the good guys by allowing 3 extra years. Calling the police, press involved does nothing to bring good feeling, especially with the council I imagine considering all the time councillor Stokes has put in. Should have kept same agreement as this year with Sandhu leasing stadium if his goods make the place run. Horton- was he backing Sandhu into a corner with the stox deal and it back fired? Lack of comment on recent events is very strange, More and more fans frustrated at the running of the club, Bomber going is more than a change of scenery I am sure, not a decent send off for such a highly thought of Bees rider. It simply does not add up and Hortons silence through all this has been pivatol , the simple fact is he can not run Brandon on speedway alone, never was going to be able to do so. I would be surprised if Sandhu's sale contract is not water tight regarding the fixtures and fittings of the stadium, Horton has riders on contract with a big problem the longer this drags out. Stox can have a plan B but speedway doesn't. The loyal fans, the few of us that are left have just about had enough.

What station was that on?
-
I thought Steve Brandon was excellent, top views and says it how it is.

I am happy it's sorted and today we can all look forward for the next 12 months.. The future holds more issues I think. My concern is what damage has this done, in say 12 months or 3 years down the line. I don't fancy our chances of finding a suitable site and even if we did it's going to be Sandhu's, can you even begin to try and imagine the merry go round. Horton can't by the looks of it afford to run the storm so in the bigger scheme of things would the best option to be for Sandhu to just run it all. He may not want to but shared ownership ends up in disaster, this was close to ending up a disaster and to be honest I don't want the current set up running the club. You don't know what's the truth and we are told but Jeremy Heaver did come across like they were just trying to get the racing going, to foot the running costs but you are not leasing is verging on crazy even more so when it running in hundreds of thousands of pounds, plus adding specifics about deals struck its not something you go on live radio and spout out. Did Mick see £££ with the stock cars ?? Sandhu has however sold our stadium, but sold before we had found somewhere and that doesn't sit well with me. We are playing catch up all the while, we had 3 years, now we have a further 1, maybe 3 then what? There is no happy ending in sight and the slow death of Coventry speedway is not very nice to be involved in. The site we are all hoping and looking for is the bloody site we sit on today. It should have been protected, we should have never have been through this awful are we , aren't we process again and again. Speedway and Stox belong to Brandon its as simple as that, If we find another site it would never be the same.
