I was more thinking about if the racing took a back step and it was Nicholls vs Harris and it became dangerous. I think they are both level headed enough to know where the limits are, i always think riders can be to matey especially those in the GP series . As i said , people can make the competition between the two more intense but on the track its down to each other to ride hard but fair. Scott has been easily our best rider for many years and i think its good that bomber has given him a kick up the backside, both have many more years riding left in them and the time will come when, be it bomber or another (doubtful) rider takes over scotts position.

I dont think there is a major problem but the GP run-off situation and Scotty not being at coventry this year maybe hasnt helped things but aslong as it doesnt get silly then i cant see it being a bad thing. Alot of people maybe read alot more into it than Bomber and Scott do.

Swc Round 2 Coventry 14th July
Coventry_Bee replied to skid row's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It does make you think what planet people are on sometimes. If the GB team are getting comments like this even when they are still in the competition then god help them if they go out on Thurdsay. Everybody knows it wasnt a great show but look at who they were against...Andreas even struggled to get a big score and he usually unbeatable at Brandon. The team picked was done in part i would say as it was at Coventry, but if he has left a few of them out people would be saying why didnt he use riders who know the track... Last year Scott was being praised as he went through the card unbeaten, this year 2 weeks after a nasty crash, he is in some peoples eyes not worth his place in the team !!! Coventry fans who will have a soft spot for scotty after what he helped us win will tell you week in, week out how fast he is around Brandon. Bomber is just back after injury, Stead is so low on confidence its scary and Ollie is another comming back from injury. The team as a whole didnt perform and it is strange they all struggled. They didnt go out to perform like that on purpose, i`d rather support team GB than say stupid things that are way over the top and uncalled for. If on thursday we perform really well.......what then ??? will Monday be forgotten ??? Roll on Thursday........... -
The Cardiff Grand Prix Discussion Thread
Coventry_Bee replied to PhilK's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There were lots more drunks this year. I guess the people doing it think its great, i think its silly that you can't take a plastic bottle in but you can go and get pint after pint. Up and down inbetween races to get another round or going to the loo. The tickets are expensive and with travel costs its a kick in the groin when your day can be spoilt because people cant take there drink then get nasty when asked to calm down. The stewards should pay more attention to these people and throw them out. -
I thought it was really good. Music is very much down to peoples tastes, No matter how good it was people will always moan about something. somebody will love say the individual riders music but the next person will find it not there cup of tea.Even if he followed up every suggestion something else would then be pointed out. 45,000 people in the stadium and i would imagine 70% were happy and enough were joining in with the songs. Cardiff is the best GP of the year and a few of the riders commented how good it was. Chris helped towards creating the atmosphere and i am sure he has learnt a great deal from his 1st GP Presentation as Birmingham is very different to doing Cardiff. I hope he gets the chance to do 2009. The meeting was held up a few times with the crashes and there was alot of time to fill. Congratulations Chris, alot of time and effort has gone into your work. Try not to worry about the moaners on here as they come out thick and fast. Let them have no music and Peter Yorke next june and see how happy they are then. Cardiff has that party atmosphere about it, we wait all year for it and you would think for 1 night people could lighten up a little. Maybe they can sort a Victor meldrew section for the non party music lovers with headphones with classical music...............

I look foward to reading them, Didnt get to see that much of him as a rider but he was fantastic for Coventry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9PKxkPbjuE He helped bring Tommy on a treat, After finishing he didnt wipe his hands with the sport as it wasnt like he needed the money!! he bought speedway to another level and he isnt going to please everybody all of the time but who else out there is going to replace him? will always be a Coventry Legend

Scott Nicholls

This thread has got so childish and stupid. Why is it that no matter what Scott ever does people will always find a way to turn the screw on him. If was ever to win a GP i hope people swollow there words but then again on here i would expect it wouldnt be a congratulations but what everybody else did wrong that enabled him to win. He scores a maximum for his country and a few say well done but most say look at the opposition? He will always be in a no win situation for most the people on this forum. It is all to easy to say what he does wrong but to people not seeing him week in and week out they dont understand what he gives. Is it only luck then since he has been at Coventry that we have had the best 3 years in recent memory. At individual level it is hard to see him winning a world title and deep down he must feel that to, but as Captin of Coventry Bees he has been out of this world nobody can take that away from him.He will go down as one of the all time greats to ride for us and i hope in 20 yrs time people will look back and say i wish we had a scott nicholls type rider in our team. I hope after he has lifted 3 trophies for us this season he may get the credit he is due. -
Scott Nicholls

If this had been between any other rider and Scott then i imagine this thread would be alot less childish. 3 riders in a GP run off !! its not a practice session. Racing is hard at that level, people have said before that scott does not race hard enough to win a GP !! It was a tough move and i havnt heard any direct quotes from Chris or Scott yet. Directly after the incident i am sure feelings were going to be strong still but i know its not directly the same but have you never fell out with anybody you work with? it doesn`t mean you ask for a transfer does it !! From what i can make out it is another get on Scott Nicholls back slanging match. He is great when he gets a maximum for GB and you can never fault him for his attitude at club level. Scott is not a dirty rider. -

I think they have changed the name of the meeting from King of Brandon to Diamond Jubilee Brandonapolis.(fixtures had it down as King of Brandon yesterday) Hope that it is a good line up, no hangovers this year either (maybe) DIARY DATE - SUNDAY OCTOBER 28 at 1pm COVENTRY Speedway are pleased to confirm that they will be staging another special end-of-season celebration meeting this year. The meeting on Sunday October 28 (1pm) will take the form of an individual event, celebrating the Buildbase Bees' Elite League title success (and maybe more!) as well as the club's Diamond Jubilee. Further details will be available in the coming days, but once again supporters will be able to bid to take part in various aspects of the meeting.
