  1. If Team GB puts any issues aside then there is no reason we can't get through to the final 1st time round. Form riders have been picked so fingers crossed we can have a good world cup. So plssss Scott and Bomber do us a favour and act your age for this one.
  2. I was gutted for Gollob as he deserved his place in the final.Overall it was a good GP, The first 6 races or so were silly with nobody on the outside gates finishing in the top 2, luck of the draw i guess but its harsh on the riders that missed out on the semi's when the start was so poor on the outside gates in there 1st ride.
  3. At least Scotty and Bomber can there battle over with in heat 4. Harris has a hard 2nd ride also but a few points here and there will do to get you into the semi's then the real work starts.
  4. Fingers crossed that Gambo does a spreadsheet for this one, Much easier to follow than what you get on the day.
  5. As there were 4 riders in the final wasn't there 4 people who could have won it?? If we are going on about how it used to be then Scott Nicholls would be British Champion. Seriously though, it wasnt that bad a meeting with good passing, few crashes and despite Barker taking Nicholls wide to let his best mate through it was a good meeting. Better than some of the crap we see on sky ??
  6. The bike Lewis had did at times last night just look like a rocket, he moved away from eastbourne to learn and maybe he is the hard way but he is where Ben Barker was in throwing the bike around a few years back. He is entertaining, you can't take that away from him.
  7. 21st century heathen, Is this interview online anywhere? There was a good interview with Scott in the local paper last night. The gist of it is that he's not interested in the GPs this season, he's happy just riding league speedway and is enjoying his racing for the first time for a couple of years, the nights off are family time and they don't even watch speedway at home, and he was desperate to regain his British Champion tag last night. That was more important to him the wild card.
  8. Maybe it was set-ups but the way riders were lifting out of turn 2 and four was much more than you woukd normally see. You could hear Danny Kings throttle control in the race-off before the meeting and it looked from where i was standing that it wasn't easy to ride. I am not knocking it as it made for good racing late on and much rather that than after 12 heats there is no dirt and the bikes just spin.
  9. The track looked far from easy to ride in the early heats to be honest but with 23 heats last night then maybe a little more dirt was put on, the poole riders managed to ride it no problems tonight The racing did improve after heat 6 or so and in the end it made for good racing. Gutted Scott didn't win, he got caught between the cornish mafia in the first bend of the final with Barker taking him out wide then locking up allowing Harris to shoot off. At least he Nicholls is at Cardiff in a few weeks.
  10. After his horror crash the other night and having an operationon his left upper arm, Emil is lookng at 8 weeks out of action. Does anybody know who replaces him? or is a FIM choice for each GP. If he can't make Cardiff it would be great to have 4 British riders in.
  11. As a Coventry Bees fan and growing up when Kelvin and Tommy were in top form i found this edition a must buy. A very honest interview by Kelvin and i am just sorry he finished at Coventry the way he did, I remember well the 89 season after Tommy's crash and it was a disaster and alot of pressure was placed on Kelvin. I would suggest its well worth a read. Be intrested to see an interview with Tommy Knudsen in a future issue ?
  12. Scott had a good meeting at Wolverhampton on Monday.Gate 4 in heat 1 is never easy but at least it gets the Scott vs Bomber race out of the way, that is unless there is a run-off :-). I have not seen it mentioned anywhere but there was a section in the Bees program vs Ipswich where Bomber was saying how good it was to see Scott back on form which was good to read.
  13. From BSPA website BIG hitters Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris will clash in the opening race of the eagerly-awaited British Final at Wolverhampton on June 14. Harris, who qualified for the event from the King’s Lynn semi-final, has been drawn in the number two racejacket and Nicholls, who is rejuvenated this season, is at number four. That means a mouthwatering first heat in a meeting which sees Harris defending his national title – and ex-champ Nicholls is desperate to win it back! There’s also the extra motivation of a place in the British Grand Prix at Cardiff on July 10 as the wildcard should Nicholls regain his title – or finish runner-up to Harris who is already in the SGP series. Series co-ordinator David Hoggart said: “To see Chris and Scott up against each other in the opening race means fans can’t afford to be late for this one! “We also have the run-off for the last qualifying spot between Danny King and Richard Hall and both riders will be desperate to make it through. Danny’s Elite League experience will make him favourite but Richard will have other ideas. “A place at Cardiff is a terrific incentive and the way Scott is riding he could go all the way, but there are 14 other riders who are desperate to make it. “Wolverhampton is a fine stadium and always provides terrific entertainment. I expect this meeting to be no different.” BRITISH FINAL DRAW – Wolverhampton, Monday June 14 (7.30): Andrew Tully, Chris Harris, Oliver Allen, Scott Nicholls, James Wright, Jason King, Paul Clews, Edward Kennett, Simon Stead, Lewis Bridger, Richard Hall or Danny King, Jordan Frampton, Ben Barker, Chris Schramm, Stuart Robson, Leigh Lanham.
  14. Its in the best intrest though to get it on again, shame they can't just start from whatever heat it stopped at as riders like Olly Allen who have put in a good show tonight. Some people have had a very lucky escape.
  15. A British Final without Tai and at Wolverhampton...will be strange Well done Scotty and hope he makes it through to Cardiff
  16. I am sure Ole didn`t want the meeting to be off, and fair play that he put his hands up and has taken the responsibility for it. It`s not like that happens over here when people make mistakes is it. Who do you think will do a better job than Ole? He must be given credit for moving the sport fowards at individual level and maybe we would still be at Brandon every june instead on Cardiff. I am sure they have learned from this.
  17. I thought it was quite a good meeting, Nikki was very lucky not to do his collerbone in that 1st crash and he did struggle afterwards, you can understand Jasons mood after the meeting, he was yards away from winning the meeting and he does show his emotions and every point is so vital to him. Scotty......He is doing better in the last few gp`s but as somebody elsesaid he is going into his last ride needing a win to get into the semi`s, He`s having a ride where he falls or doesnt beat the riders below him. He did really well in his second ride against Dryml, he was really lucky it wasnt a repeat of last season when he had that big fall in Lonigo. What makes it worse is that he was trying to stuff Scott in the fence on the last corner rather than trying to win that enabled scott to cut back and get the win. I think Scott had every right to have his say afterwards because maybe it showed that he won`t be pushed around anymore and the heart rate after hitting the fence must have been racing a bit. It was nice to see him get off his bike and see how bomber was, a start in the right direction i hope. It`s strange that Greg & Billy rode together for many years and they used it to there advantage. One last thought.... How many times do you see Greg or Leigh on the deck? going back Rickardson, Nielsen, Gundersen etc, they never felll much at all. This season alone i hate to think how many times Nikki has come down.
  18. The last heat looks intresting !! Scotty on Gate 3 Bomber on Gate 4 Hope they both get round the four laps with out 1 of them falling off this time.
  19. So if Kelvin and the sky team shut up, the riders arn`t interviewed we are all happy
  20. I do Agree with the Top 8 of Pedersen Crump Adams Hancock Jonsson Gollob B Pedersen H. Andersen Are a class above the rest of the guys. Scott was out in heats 4 & 5 where the track was more consistant then a long break which maybe caught him out when he came last but it is the same for them all. With 5 points after 2 rides you must be confident of picking up at least a point a ride to get a semi final spot. When he got excluded he was unlucky as the track was a shambles and as adams proved when he got caught out that he maybe tried to hard in the first bend. They did alot of work after Scott and Iversen had both been put out but it was a little to late for them two. Lady Luck isnt with Scott this season, He has not done what is expected but after last night and being put out in the last GP, these things all add up and could cost a spot for next year. I do feel that a year out will do Scott the world of good, give him chance to sit back and see things from another angle. He isnt in a position to challange the top guys and he looks totally shattered and it cant be good for confidence going out before the semi final stage time and again. Somebody else can then take the crap Scott has been given by alot of people on here, Bomber cant do it in England so does he deserve a spot for next season.
  21. I did find it strange to see Harris`s mechanic lending a hand to Holta`s team with harris intrestingly looking on. In my opinion i find that a bit strange, never in watching the GP`s have i seen same nationalities really helping each other, never mind other countries. Its the 3rd or 4th time this season (GP and Elite) that they have clashed.... Roll on the next GP for Nicholls vs Harris.
  22. An ex-rider who has won 3 world longtrack titles ! What on earth does he know about winning things hey.
  23. On the Nicholls/Harris comments about there GP performances and qualification for next years Grand Prix series. When i look through the list below of the riders in the GP's i can honestly see why they both dont reach many semi's or finals. As much as i would like to think they are up in that top 8 class of rider they are a level below this. If Scott and Bomber don't make much (if any) money from the gp`s then spending the amounts that the top 3/4 at least would take away money they are not earning. Bombers problem is the start, never in a million years are you going to get far in the GP's being 4th in the first bend race after race. Scott isnt far behind in this and his engines never look fast enough as he looks like being overtaken rather than pull out a lead. Scotty and Bomber are the best british riders we have at present, they are out there doing there best, the world cup showed where we are in the speedway world at present. The same people who mess with the rules every season and baffle most fans across the country must put some plan together to help the younger riders come through like with Eric in Denmark. Never again will a rider win the GP series and not win a single round like Mark Loram did, the competition is at another level these days.Maybe when Greg and Leigh have called it a day it will leave Nicki and Jason to fight it out but there will always be a rider that will move up to join them. Nicki PEDERSEN Leigh ADAMS Jason CRUMP Tomasz GOLLOB Hans ANDERSEN Greg HANCOCK Rune HOLTA Andreas JONSSON Bjarne PEDERSEN Scott NICHOLLS Chris HARRIS
