  1. I think Tai after the World Cup showing deserved a shot at Cardiff and also see how he would get on in the mix with the worlds very best. But... I also agree that the British Champion should be given the wild card, they deserve it after winning the individual event of the year when it comes to british riders. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say the best man won no matter how much Tai or any of them wanted to win, Barker and Stead were good enough to come round and thank the supporters after going out in the semi, Woffinden needs to maybe watch the meeting back and see if he is happy with his actions.
  2. People will moan on here no matter who won, The record books will only show though that Scott Nicholls became 7 time British Champion in 2012. Moan away
  3. Was the crash on the 3rd bend of the 1st lap in the final? Who is to say who would have passed who in the remaining laps, just look at the re-run. Just a quick thought, Tai's mistake on the last bend of his 1st race cost him a direct place into the final and better gate choice. All the talk of Auty and Roynon before was wishful thinking, last night showed its still the men against the boys. Same 4 as last years final, Same gate positions as last years final and same result as last years final.
  4. Congratulations to Scott, He deserved that win last night. Didn't do it the easy way by far, how many people did he have to pass to do it ?? People can moan all they like about Scott being at Cardiff, Its not Scotts choice that the winner of the British Title goes as the wild card. Although i am sure he will enjoy going there its not what he was there for last night, He wants to be British Champion and all he can do is try and beat who is there. Harris and Nicholls were chatting away before the presentation so even if it wasn't shown on camera they were fine with wach other after such a great advert for speedway in the final.
  5. Agree with you on that, The track now is to fair for everybody and we get no real home track advantage. Even better 1987 and King Kelvin. Watching that makes you realise how every race was like a final, a point dropped would cost you the title. Makes for good tv these days going to the last heat but for me 5 rides each, highest points scored wins.
  6. In saying that i think you would never see a British Final like that in this era now. Was a massive crowd and they didn't even show the grandstand side of the stadium. Very happy memories of Wiggy though, Be strange with Lee not being there tonight
  7. For me as much as i am looking foward to tonights meeting, the link below shows the era i most remember the British Final as being the meeting of the season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCSavmzNOmc Wolverhampton will fill 1 side with ease but would never cope if that amount of people turned up
  8. Its Tai`s to lose really with home track advantage. Just think back to last years final though and it means alot to Harris and Scott to be British Champion so expect hard racing and Scott is quick round Wolverhampton and won't be scared to give anybody a good shunt out of the way just ask Bomber. Tai does deserve a chance at Cardiff as Scott has struggled when he has been the wild card.
  9. Well i hope some footage gets on youtube soon, Not only did i have to work last night but my sky box went and packed up. Sounds like a great meeting and a huge well done to Team GB, did better than i thought and when you think about what level we are at in the sport i think we pushed the Australians harder than they thought we would, Fingers crossed for Thursday.
  10. Maybe a few years without a british rider is what is needed, Look at the Australians and Polish talent then look at us. We are years behind and even with the Belle Vue project it needs somebody to take charge and help the young riders come through. eg, Mark Loram, Kelvin Tatum or even Scott Nicholls & Harris. On and Off the track British speedway is having a shocker, the fans can see it so god only knows what goes on at the head of oour sport.
  11. Can't see Scott racing on thursday to be honest. The select few who just come on here to moan about anybody and everybody will I think go for Tai on Thursday for the forum bashing... Even if we'd have gone through tonight something sumwhere would have been wrong. Just support the bldy team, they are trying there best out there.
  12. Where can you get updates on the other meetings? Wanna see how the Brits are doing
  13. Coventry are the form team, Home and Away we are winning in style and i think you might be a little concerned Steve that Poole are going to be stung very soon.
  14. Injecting new blood is what they tried with Tai!! Not everybody is going to do an Emil i'm afraid and i am sure the BSI would want an American in the series and he out of anybody would deserve a Wild Card. I do agree however with Richardson being given the opportunity. If there is a British rider they are only going to be making the numbers up in all honesty, Scott and Chris have been there and seen it all (mostly in 3rd or 4th place) but Scott has proved what being away from it all has done to him. Going back to a previous point about Harris being British champion. He was very lucky that night in the fact he never got excluded, seriously injured after his crash and the fact Barker took Nicholls out on the 1st bend in the final. You can't knock him for getting back on a bike after his crash but he had lady luck with him at Wolverhampton that night
  15. Very good post Authorised, My dad is always on about how averages these days can't be compared to years gone by. After heat 1 the top guys never met again but like you said that heats 1,13,15 are where the heat leaders meet each other and so maximums and paid maximums are so sparse these days.
  16. I can't imagine that Scott wants to join the GP circus again, all it seems to do is be a drain on finances and confidence. When your main aim is to just get into the top 8 for the following season you must question what you are doing. Harris has had his chances and if they want a british rider in the gp's then Lee deserves another shot but on current form we have no rider who warrents a place on the world stage.
  17. It's doing more harm than good for Tai, The poor bloke lost his dad and then Wolves made him Captain!! why? then to add just a little more pressure he gets a wild card. Its all been to much to soon, let him enjoy and learn for a few seasons then re-introduce him to the gp's. Carry on like he is and he will be sick of the sport before long.
  18. I think Saturdays qualifier is huge for Harris, at this point i can't see a british rider getting a wild card. Tai could do with a season to sort himself out again, he doesn't look happy with life at the moment and you can fully understand why but a break and get some confidence back would do him good. Bomber is unlucky in the fact that he has been riding better than he ever has done in the gp's but needs some good results to get into the top 8, can't see him getting another wild card with some better riders above him deserving of a place. IF they want a british rider in the grand prix's though then you can only look at Harris who deserves a chance. Scott proved at Cardiff he would be stepping back into a sticky mess returning to the gp's. Its an expensive game when the majority of riders from round 1 just want to get in the top 8 for the next season. Can't see past Holder and Emil in the next few years.
  19. When you look at the Cricket, Football, WWE, Tennis and PGA golf this weekend its obvious where little old speedway stands. To much sport and too few channels
  20. Sky Sports are great On the speedway section of the website it says 6-7pm on sky sports 1 then interactive. On sky sports 1 though there is no speedway due on at 6pm? I was going to record it as i am half way through decorating the kitchen but thats that plans gone to pot. Half midnight it is then
  21. Its always so easy after the event to say it was a mistake, My view on it is that there are no easy races to play the Joker. How many times have they not worked for any country ? I think Rob did a great job and we should just accept we did the best with the riders we have. At least team GB played the joker, i wouldn't have liked to be the Polish team manager if they lost out by a point yesterday !! That was a schoolboy error
  22. I take it you wont be standing near each other next year then... There was me thinking that it was the riders we had to worry about not throwing toys out the pram.
  23. Back to the speedway.... Lets just enjoy what happened last night please.
