The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
Coventry_Bee replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Greg has earned that respect, he hasn't asked for it. Crump and TR were hard but also very fair, there is a massive difference in my opinion on the ability of Crump, TR and Hancock vs Pedersen. I've not seen a rider push others so wide but on the receiving end he is the first to bail off., then the arms wave in the air, wag of the finger. Unfortunately he won't be remembered for the titles he won. -
The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
Coventry_Bee replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The problem is that if Greg is punished with a ban then it opens a can of worms. Basically that you can send fellow riders, I'd go as far as team mates that close to the fence you have to bail off. I'd rather Greg do what he did after a race than riders sorting it out on track. Pedersen has been lucky with injuries, holder, Greg and hamper are proof that nasty injuries are seconds away without nutters trying to put you in a fence. -
The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
Coventry_Bee replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It's not the move last night that was to blame, it's pedersens attitude, disregard for fellow riders and inability to try and pass fairly. This has been brewing and it was just a matter of who and when. Opinions vary but you can't keep putting riders in the fence, Greg got hurt big time last year with a nasty injury. It has become far to common to say that was a hard Pedersen move, how many times can you push riders in the fence and expect to get away with it, Greg was wrong but not without good reason. If it finally makes him think again before making a move then it's job done., rather that than next time out somebody gives pedersen a good old shove down the back straight and he's in the fence. That would be getting even. Scott never got a ban so with gregs history I expect the same, I was at Coventry when Wayne Carter and pedersen started, he on the track is a complete liability towards other riders if it's not going his way. A lot of riders have respect and time for Greg, most wouldn't pee on pedersen if he was on fire. The powers that be need to step in and get them all together before the next GP. -
King's Lynn V Coventry 29th April
Coventry_Bee replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It is comical reading some posts on here, a bad meeting and its get the rider out, Hans is doing ok, not great but I rather have him than anybody else who could fit in. Forget all his good rides and just concentrate on the bad stuff, that's what the forums about isn't it. Sticking the knife in. Unfortunately the new system means the top guys meet each other ever race nearly, somebody has to score 1 or 0 I think it's ridiculous the criticism Hans gets. On Monday night he showed true commitment to Coventry in heat 15, he was waiting and ready to race in awful conditions, yeah the result didn't go his way but he was out there way before the rest. He could have said no thanks but credit him and the others in that heat as they wouldn't have been able to see only a few yards in front of them . Hans could have a Bee, Robin, Or anything on his race suit !! it's his living, doing something he loves so give the man some respect.- 130 replies

Coventry Stadium - The Promotion Men Vs Boys !
Coventry_Bee replied to markyb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I haven't been to the stock cars for years, keep meaning to go but it's one of those where you read about it and say must go next month. I used to love the noise and seeing all those cars on track with the better drivers trying to come through the field. Speedway has a lost generation in my opinion, it will hit if we get that far in say 10-15 years. It's mainly older folk or parents who bring there kids at present, I am 36 and I enjoy most sports but the alarming thing is that in the past 10 years or so 90% of sports have improved the "show" football, rugby, snooker, cricket, darts.. They have gained pulling power where domestic speedway has shoved dynamite up its backside and sat on it. Old school beliefs with old school behaviours, no vision for the future or even the good of the sport, when riders are trying to find ways of running meetings (Rory) then what's that say about the sport we love. Mr Sandhu walked away because of the way speedway is run, fans have left in there thousands this past decade or so because of the way speedway is run. The way it goes is we butter over it for a year, AGM time excuses come out and we wing it for 12 months. It's not about race nights, it would be a huge help but it's an easy get out to shift the issues. I don't think my great grand children will see speedway, not at a professional level anyway. It's a shame Sandhu walked away as if given the chance with the help of people who really know and love the sport like Rosco and especially Buster Chapman then they could have at least tried to revamp the sport, it's 4 bikes and an oval track, that hasn't changed... The show, the entertainment, drama ..!!!!! Daydream over .... -
I think it's the right choice, we would have been a 6 man team and you wouldn't have had him at reserve no matter in the team. The risk didn't pay off and the early challange matches have saved us playing catch up and maybe season saved before a league meeting has been completed. Just the presentation to sort out for the best intrests of Coventry Speedway and we can make home meetings a real challange for all visiting teams.

Chris Harris Testimonial ?
Coventry_Bee replied to greytiger's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Good to see a few more names on the list, I imagine this early on it's not easy to get riders. A lot of riders from good bees teams gone by but still we wait to see if the most successful Bees captain ever will be there. Hope the weather holds up, and it's a good meeting. He's has his critics but all in all he has always put Coventry first and put his body quite literally on the line. -
It was a good meeting, however I imagine people will hail the 5 man team rightly so but it papers over a few cracks. An error was made on the bees management to try using a rider not permitted in the rules. Bees would have protested if the ball was on the other foot, so that's a delay to a school night meeting, the track was patchy at best. The tractor was out so many times and it's easy to see why Coventry is being criticised so much by other riders. Bomber was in another class tonight, track suits him and luck wasn't on kings Lynn side I'd say with Rory falling on the last bend and Kerr unlucky to be put out. Scott's engine failure also added to non finishers. My closing point is how disappointed I am in Gary Havelock. As team manager he represents the club at and away from the track the same as riders do, I'd call them ill advised twitter comments regarding MJJ, his endless comments about Kelvin Tatum are his opinions yes but really, a wise move ?? Not in my eyes. Tonight's comments about KL were also not needed, we broke the rules they didn't. Then the run in with Rory afterwards, just not what we want to see, in my view though that started with that old man who stands week in week out giving riders crap. He needs to wind his neck in, one week Harris and co are great next its how they are not fit enough to wear the bees colours and Ole Olsen wouldn't have stood for it. He's had a go with Tai, Rory, Bjerre and it's gone on for years going back to Eddie Kennett. Might not sound it but I am really happy with the win but sometimes it's the way you win or lose that matters. Sad state of British speedway when pot luck of reserves is going to go so much towards winning the league. could be last choice next year for the bees if they keep this system so enjoy it why we can.

He does come across well on TV and interviews he gives in the speedway star are always a good read. I think he has a future in TV if he wants it but I do agree that he is perfect for a role in the future generations but his feelings about the governing bodies and not riding for team GB does cast doubt over this. As a Coventry fan obviously we have a huge amount to thank Scott Nicholls for, he is in our history books as our most successful captain. He always gets a great reception when he returns. Would be interesting though who would be most well thought off at the end of there careers, Scotty or Chris Harris ??

British Final 2014
Coventry_Bee replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
They originally made contact because Harris had no momentum going off the last bend, Scott was much quicker causing the clash, causing Harris to not be where he wanted and scott having the inside run. They simply just ran out of track in a racing incident but yes I do think he could have stayed on rather than go for a gap that just wasn't there. The rider on the inside will always be deemed to be the cause. -
British Final 2014
Coventry_Bee replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Scott hasn't ridden him to the fence, Harris had room to move off the line so he could put his foot down to turn the bike, but like I said those two were no going to give an inch, the other way round I think exactly the same would have happened. -
British Final 2014
Coventry_Bee replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Although Scott's comments have re-opened a can of worms it's the biggest meeting of the year for so many last night. We want them to be passionate and Scott was going for it as he wanted to be in that final, he showed aggression that was going back to sunny Sunday afternoons at Coventry when Kelvin won his title in 87. The question is could Harris of stayed on ?? The answer is yes, he turned left where there was no gap and there was 1 outcome.. It's not just once or twice now we have seen bomber jump off the bike. Scott was hard on Bomber don't get me wrong but the rivalry, the meeting it was, what was at stake !! Was he meant to pull the throttle back and say "after you" ! I hope for there sake they can shake hands as I can't think of anybody who would have complained if the option was for all 4 back even at that stage. Racing incident in a highly charged moment.. End of really. -
British Final 2014
Coventry_Bee replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
It's the 4th bend it all started, Harris got out of shape and had very little momentum causing Nicholls to bump into him, then down the home straight Nicholls had the line for the 1st bend but Harris wasn't giving an inch and it was the semi final so it was all to play for. They ran out of straight and Harris's leg went up and down he went. Scott had the line and the position, in my book Harris should have gone. If both hadn't made such hard work of there night they wouldn't have been there anyway but it was a good meeting. Tai's antics were not against the rules and unless Harris was going to start a metre back from the tapes then his gate wasnt messed with as tai took dirt away from the gate position. Wouldn't effect golden gloves on the outside anyway. Still can't gate. -

Coventry Bees Vs Belle Vue Aces - 13/06/14
Coventry_Bee replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I thought the track was more than ok, very close racing and good to see riders having the respect to give each other racing room. I think you see it more these days where a rider behind tries to make the rider in front make a mistake rather than pass them. Happy that the reserves who fell are ok, Nasty crash. Belle Vue looked out of it early on and the tactical really kept them in it but the result was never in doubt. Danny king was a good guest legal or not and I don't think an ex bees rider is better received than Scott Nicholls, showed he still has it with some hard racing and never give up when behind. Bees are looking really good, bomber may suffer with MJJ in the team as my only concern is yeah we have a team of racers but they all like this outside line, there are going to be times when they get in each others way but its a good problem to have as the only weak link is number 7 but after a few Knocks its going to take time and I really like his attitude. All in all much better and I am a happy supporter who got value alone in heat 13. Time to get some momentum up and top 4 here we come. -
It Is Time To Get Shot Of Mr Watt!
Coventry_Bee replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Have I missed something ?? I thought Watt was one of the more popular riders on the speedway circuit. When ever I have seen him at Brandon or on tv he is always giving 100%. Why is he not allowed to be tired? Travel can take it out of riders! Or are we forgetting the anniversary of one of his best friends might just be on his mind also????? But no it's easy just to type away and slate the man. Good job his name isn't a certain Birmingham number 5! Good score tonight Davey, good on you. -
If he's happy why shouldn't he wave at her... As long as he remembers the fans on the 3rd bend of course... In fact I think he should even stop and give you a special wave Gemini, sure Hansen would!! Crowd pleaser all the way.
-
Bomber has got worse, some riders look a nervous wreck twitching away at the start, tapping away at there bike and pointing towards the sky. It would put me off at the start being next to somebody doing the above. I know nerves and all that but really !! Have to look closer at other riders now.

Wolves V Belle Vue 22/4/14
Coventry_Bee replied to hyderd's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yeah, would have been good to have him back. He always put 100% into every race and he is very clever in his riding, no panic, the thing with Scott is that if he has a bad meeting or ride its only himself he blamed. Also he never seemed to carry it around with him, good or bad meeting. Belle vue suits him and hope he makes it British title number 8. -

Chris Bomber Harris Performances
Coventry_Bee replied to ghostie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think Scott's had a cracking start to the year. At number 3 which may give a false reading but he is winning races no matter who he is against. Maybe if Hansen really pushes on and Bomber goes to number 3 it will help. We are 1 meeting in at Brandon ?? Lets just get behind him and bring some much needed cheer to Coventry speedway . -
Chris Bomber Harris Performances
Coventry_Bee replied to ghostie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don't think it matters if you are chris Harris or a lower division rider, they all go out there to try there best. They risk there lives as we all know so if I was bomber I would block people if they were giving me grief. Twitter has allowed us as fans a huge insight into there life, that gives nobody the right though to send anything abusive etc. I imagine Harris is doing everything he can to turn this round, it's hitting him in the pocket I am sure and at the end if the day they are racers and they love riding there bike so he must be so frustrated and to top his night off I bet he turns his phone on and see's rubbish on twitter that is not one bit productive. A little support goes a long way.
