  1. Who is going to buy them though? If he said they are not good enough then he is going to take what he can get. Maybe sell them, then say they were crap.. Ha ha
  2. How long before Max moves up to a heat leader position? Could be Zagar and Nicholls at 1&2 soon maybe ?
  3. I'll echo others, I went to the Leicester vs Aces last season and Zagar was awful. I have never in all my years going to speedway watch such a bad attempt at racing. Will be a close meeting though, I'll go Aces by 4 points.
  4. I totally agree with you, Cook was in the same position just a few weeks ago. Yet again the rule book has made this impossible for Bomber, you could argue that it's a knock on effect as if say they had been allowed to double up its then somebody else out of a job. Harris is riding in a month what some are in a week, Poland has always been difficult for British riders and Nicholls has been lucky to get all 3 leagues this season. let's hope that 2017 we actually have a team to support and the rule book has been simplified shall we say.
  5. I agree that he should be allowed to double up, How he can be expected to earn a living just doing EL? The gp circus is just an added expense and you can't knock him for giving it a go, he qualified by right and has every right to give it a go. It's his passion and career and as the saying goes it's better to regret something you did do rather than something you didn't. He has given priority to British speedway and what's he ever had in return really? It would give a boost to a premier league team and to Chris to get extra time on a bike, increased crowds ? It seems a no brainer to me ! When he does call it a day people will look back and say we need more riders like bomber, maybe its getting older but it used to be a Coventry win was everything but these days good close racing and being entertained wins every time.
  6. Can people not agree to disagree ? It's an opinion not a right or wrong reply.
  7. First trip and was very impressed with the shape of the track and facilities. It was a very poor crowd, it looks like the more northern fans didn't fancy it and with so many home riders it was a suprise. Wolverhampton with everybody in one area makes a really good atmosphere and easy for the presenter to engage with the fans. For the British final and lots and lots of empty seats and huge gaps in the terraces it doesn't look good. We left Coventry just gone 3 to make sure we got there ok, was good until the last 15 miles or so and that took forever and arrived at just after 6, parking was fine and a short walk to the stadium. The racing was good, it was brilliant being so close to the action, a bit like Leicester but just a much much better shape track and I think the lack of re-starts showed that with more room on the 1st bend. It's a shame it rained towards the end of the meeting as you can't take it away from Danny king who deserved his win but I do hope the SWC is dry and we can really see the worlds best use all lines. Bomber looks a shadow of the rider he was and Scott at 38 isn't going to make moves of 5 years ago, as in all era's there is a change of the guard and in Danny king you do see a lot of Nicholls style. Don't agree with with stopping people bringing food in when all that is on offer is greasy non healthy junk food at stupid prices, just put a few snacks and wrap a sandwich up and pop it in your coat pocket till you are in as all they do is want to check your bag, might look a bit odd on a hot summers day though.. Ha ha, and the PA on the back straight was awful, couldn't understand a word being said but they can put that right in time. Will be there again next year, I just hope a few more turn up or make it a Saturday night meeting? Weather and traffic I would imagine played its part but the place needs to be full on occasions like this.
  8. Seen 3 forecasts and all different. Fingers crossed any rain stops by 4.
  9. The promotions at most clubs need to up the game, they want to attract people to the sport but do no or very little advertising. I know it was before the days of the Internet but in the Coventry evening telegraph we always used to have an advert for the speedway, then on a Saturday in the pink there was the captains column. In some ways the word promotion is as false as calling it an elite league. "Promotion refers to raising customer awareness of a product or brand, generating sales, and creating brand loyalty. It is one of the four basic elements of the market mix, which includes the four P's: price, product, promotion, and place."
  10. I can get on via sports365.live but I can't press the play button. Just pop up crazy
  11. Any YouTube links or the meeting? Watching via iPad so cric won't work. Thanks
  12. A week away and I can't wait. Looking at Saturday's scores it looks like Cook is going to be the man to beat. Steve Worrall will be worth a watch, Nicholls has struggled to get upto speed as yet but it goes down to that last heat and I still think Bomber and Nicholls have enough about them to make it but with Garrity and King it could be a close call. Final :- Cook Garrity Nicholls Harris
  13. It does seem strange that at concerts and even Cardiff they take bottle tops off you but especially at Leicester and Belle Vue where you are so close to the action there has not been something put in place. Also I did find it very strange that with the horrible accident last weekend that the riders were allowed to do the parade with no crash helmet on. Yes they are not racing but these bikes are seriously powerful and can go out of control easily, its just an observation that maybe it wasn't the smartest move.
  14. Where has this info about the bank come from? We have 30 days to try and help the council and the new owner come to an agreement so I just hope we stick to facts on here.
  15. A delayed start because of a good crowd is not a thing to be dissopointed at, it's a good sign that people want to come and watch speedway. Our first visit will be the British final, will be printing the ticket and looking at reviews on here as where best to watch. I can only think that people are also asking lots of questions on the way in as for many it's a first trip and you don't know what's where and so it will take time but the essential thing they have right is the track and the viewing by the looks of it. Getting into the place you can sort out but as Leicester have found out, get the track shape wrong from a blank canvas and its curtains really. The British final should be really open, Scott really hasn't got going there yet, Bombers score today wasn't great, Garrity impressed but then an evening meeting will ride totally different to a midday meeting. It's all about getting into that final and keeping your head. Would like Scott to add another title but it's anybody's on the night and should make some brilliant TV. So many lines and it looks quick so unlike Wolverhampton where traditionally Nicholls & Harris have gone well on a tight tricky track this looks the opposite. Amazing what (finally) can be achieved, support and cash from the council and a fantastic arena !! Rugby/Coventry council please take note. Coventry are one of the biggest names in British Speedway, Belle Vue have been rejuvinated and guaranteed a future in the sport, there is no reason why our councils who say they want to keep speedway in the area can't do the same.
  16. So 1.7 Million pounds is a good return around 12 years on. There were improvements made granted but add income from sponsorship, gate receipts (especially the stox) and rent isn't a bad deal for him. No wonder there is money in the coffers for a new stadium with no backers needed. I do feel very let down at the fact we were again told one thing and delivered something else, always told Sandhu was a man of his word. Last nights meeting contradicted all this and Mr Heavers and the council have different accounts of what is going on A legacy Mr Sandhu should and could have left is in real danger of being instead the person who ended Coventry Speedway. The history of the club and its legacy that was left by C.O is on its last legs, No regard for the riders and stadium staff who he has employed previously and promises that were told to fans about a new stadium would be built before Brandon was sold. No regard for the fans who celebrated with him the title success's in 2005, 2007 and 2010. I have no doubt Mr Heaver has been looking at a solution to this as at the end of the day his current position is going also with the end of Brandon. Maybe there is an 11th hour solution, but we can't go through this every few years. The best way forward would be a speedway only track supported rugby council, using buildbase materials of course
  17. Just out of interest, How much was the stadium sold for when Sandhu purchased it?
  18. I think people don't always enjoy what is here and now, To see riders like Mark Loram ride at his best was brilliant. As with Scott Nicholls it won't be till they have retired and you look back and think how lucky were we to see him ride. Especially at Coventry I think Harris will always be remembered as a rider who gave his all and was always committed to club and country. That in it's self can not be said for many these days. In a way Harris has been an easy target for the haters, like Andy smith was back when I was growing up. I would much rather see a meeting with really good honest racers in such as Harris rather than a gate and go such as Hans Andersen is, nothing against his style its got him success but from a spectator you always want to be entertained.
  19. 3 years on and still scratching heads looking for a location. Not in the slightest surprised. Carry on looking shall we while our stadium decays. I hope Rugby council put up as much a fight with planning permission for current site So much for the stadium being sold once a new location was put in place.
  20. I find it strange no applications have been put in for housing after the meeting many months ago, Call me stupid but would the sensible option be to allow another 12 months of stox and speedway while any application is heard as even if its put in tomorrow there is very little chance of anything happening in 2017. This would allow income into the stadium, keep fans happy and allows more time for all ? If Mr Heaver is right in that there is no flexibility for next year and with the proposed plan of a new stadium rejected and that only being a stones throw from the current site I would imagine the plans for new houses might go the same way but you never know how councils work. Tomorrow should be interesting, while I understand there has to be certain things kept under wraps we have had nothing really in the past 12 months. Three years nearly since Mr Sandhu told of his intention and where are we? weeks away from our last meeting at Brandon with what in place ?
  21. Hard meeting to call, Bomber will always raise his game against Nicholls and will also want to put on a good show after a few below par meetings. Belle Vue have the ability to beat us, from 1-6 they can all score well it's just Joe Jacobs who is the weak link, am looking forward to a good meeting.
