Oz Championships 2013-14
Primary Chain replied to Primary Chain's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks Crazy Sue and your elfs who did a great job. I also must mention the boys from www.allsportradio.com.au who were simply fantastic at Kurri. They gave the commentary and I could paint the picture in my mind. Loved every minute of it. Will M.A. bring them on board next year? Do you think that the championship will bring Mildura back to the fold in 2015? A 4 track title or more? -

The door is open exactly the same amount for Australians as it is for the "Yanks, Argies and all sorts of other 'foreign' countries" when it comes to receiving work permits, and that seems pretty fair to me. I don't see why Australians should receive any preferential treatment. Once upon a time, in another world, there was a thing called the "British Commonwealth" where whose members were given preferential, and reciprocal, treatment. Then along came another thing called the "European Economic Community".... I'm sorry to read that you consider Australians as foreigners. Anyway it's time for us foreigners to turn our heads to a country so far away and support our riders in round 2 at Underra on Wednesday. Hope it's a fantastic night! -

Is it easier, for example, for a Polish rider to get a UK work permit than an Australian? Seems now that the British Commonwealth is the European Community and the Australians are the foreigners. I guess nothing stays the same forever (excepting the freezing cold here). -

Of course! You tube. Great resource! I wish I wasn't such a digital immigrant. -

So can someone tell me about the Underra track? As I have asked before, is it like any British tracks in shape and size? Have dates so now it's just a matter of getting back to the lucky country. -

Have any of the state senior titles been decided yet? I have read somewhere that the winners of those titles are seeded into the Oz Titles. Correct? -

What makes Undera different? Is it similar to any British track? -

Agree with you Good Lord but in the end the individual rider knows what's best for him. I went to the Oz Championships a few years ago when it was at the Show grounds in Sydney's Olympic precinct and absolutely loved seeing the likes of Crump and Adams. I would love to go home and see the likes of Ward, Holder ,Schlein and the World Cup Team. That would get quite a few through the turnstiles. Mind you there are a few young riders dreaming of that break when it will be their turn to shine. -

Thanks Ned et al. While the feeling is that all international riders should be available, the reality is that riders need a break and the oz summer is perfect for recharging the batteries. I understand that those who ride in Britain and Europe week in and week out need a break. Would love to see everyone riding but that's just not possible and I respect the right for riders to say "no thank you." Now where did I put my spare change jar? -
Where and when will these be held in the oz summer? Anyone put their hand up to ride yet? If all goes well might be down there and get to see some great racing. Haven't been home at this time for too long.

World Cup Final

Congratulations to Poland. All respect to them and to the other 3 teams who gave their very best. It certainly went down to the wire and ultimately speedway is the big winner. -
Has the field been named for the Australian titles in January? If not does anyone know when this might be made public? Where will qualifying be held?

Grand Prix In Australia And New Zealand?
Primary Chain replied to Dexter's topic in International World of Speedway
Ahhh timing!!! Now there's an interesting dilema. Would you have an Aust and NZ (why not take in South Africa too?) GP as the last on the calendar or the first of a new year. I'm sure that the riders who are home from Europe would love to attend but it might not fit the schedule. I've heard from friends that by putting in temporary stands at Gillman you would have a ready made GP venue. I know Wayville in Adelaide but you would need a smaller track maybe. What is the longest GP track at the moment? -

Wouldn't argue with your comments Humph. However what I was attempting to point out was that using speedway tracks dominated by sprint cars and the like is possible. Mount Gambier was used as an example. A round of the GP would have to be in a capital city and,as I have already said, Parramatta or Virginia (Adelaide) could fit that bill. Of course it is all academic but makes for an interesting and robust conversation. -

As I see it the best outcome would be for a joint proposal for a GP taking in a car track(M.A and track promoter) and removing the clay for the event. This happened at Mount Gambier for the Aussie solo titles a couple of years ago and the bikes were flying. If this could happen then I would pump for either Parramatta(NSW) or Virginia(SA). Of course its all academic but still makes for an interesting conversation during a European winter. -

Lets see if I can start a list of starters before qualifying. No order. Schlein Bachelor Woodward Watt Proctor Ward Doyle Not a bad start to what should be a great title? Will Mark Jones try for qualifying? -
Do we have any idea what the field will be this summer? Is Crump giving it another go?
