  1. think the track is a bit of a smokescreen, only heat one did we look good enough and then the thought was iversen wont be that bad again. after heat two it was obvious we were going to struggle, unfortunately its the same old same old no home heat leaders equals defeat simples i think the new format will take some getting used to. mid meeting i thought i was watching coventry storm, its very apparent how weak the league has become
  2. i think people have short and distant memories, getting to heat ten for a result is an improvement. i remember very well in the 80's that if the meeting got passed heat six, it could be abandoned and you wouldst get your money back. Sitting in the stand as a green card holder (if anyone remembers that?) looking at the track, no way on earth 13 heaths are going to be run, track inspections after heat 5, "we will give it a go" coming across the speakers. After heat six, "sorry its not safe". game over no money back! banging on the (locked) office door with 100's others demanding our money back, this was in the days of CO, it has always been the same, abandoned after heat ten is a big improvement!
  3. dont know what people are moaning about, Coventry got there usual haul of points from Swindon ie 35/36 points. Swindon didn't get there usual 55 points, isnt that the problem? what a shocker a wet track in April, its never happened before
  4. did you know you can forecast the weather tomorrow? simply assume that tomorrow will be the same as today, you have a 45% chance of being correct. using all that technology only increases this to 55%! look out the window tomorrow at 07:30 if it looks ok, chances are it will be on
  5. and i dont think harris was either? both late enmtries
  6. 39-38 in the end i think? wednesday night chucking it down with rain, i have an audio tape somewhere of that match, if you can remember you could by audio cassettes of the matches
  7. no one was suggesting that, the two sports have been together for a long time with no issues, never been to the cars thou in 40 years! the issue will come when if they try and find a new venue. the noise of the cars is huge compared to the bikes, im not sure they could co exist in a stadium for much longer?
  8. i think thats a fair assessment actually, just seems odd for three years left they are re laying the track? doesnt make any business sense UNLESS the fans have to agree to the change of use?
  9. the pictures that appeared on facebook this morning, told the tail, no chance of it being on, track looks a very long way off from being ready. so hats off to Mick for apologizing this week, can we now expect the same from the stadium?????
  10. i dont think anyone believes it, thats why we want the last three years to be good!
  11. i think actually both sides are correct. they probably took the decision to re lay the track, and then we have had the wettest winter since Noah was a boy. so i guess work started late ie last week, and then no one talking to each other. i do wonder if MicK has more than he can handle with three teams? i know there were issues at Pboro as well.
  12. from the previous press releases i would assume the stadium
  13. so it rained on monday night, any track man worth his salt could get that sorted by friday. who is right and who is wrong i do not care BUT neither of them are acting like they care about the team for the record just like CCFC i will not travel to another track. the supporters have minimal trust in both the stadium owner and the promoter, this latest spat just proves that we are correct in not trusting any of them. deeds not words!
  14. either this is a bog standard speedway F**k up, or its planned... either the new owners (whoever they may be) have decided to get rid as soon as possible, three years is looking a bit optimistic now! or, as is rumoured sandhu has bought the place back from himself, in which case this is an even worse scenario, absolute zero chance of a new stadium. we can be polite and say its option 1, but by the sound of Mick Hortons response, i'm not so sure. and we very concerned when mick Horton rescued Pboro, perhaps we can now see why?
  15. its all about mental attitude, harris has proved in the past that he can compete at GP level, the year he qualified in his own right! and was on podium form. not sure what gets to him but clearly things do. you see him struggle to pass poor riders, almost throwing the bike at the track to get past, loses momentum and tails off. this is a rider who is affected by pressure, i think it can be resolved with the right support. not sure what was going on with his last stint at the bees, external issues were obviously getting to him, it was sad to see him struggle. Hopefully we can see the real bomber this year, its great to watch. whatever the recent form he should never forget he is a bees legend and always will be!
  16. yes quite emotional yesterday, for all its old faults still a place full of memories, it has an air of permanency about it, lacking in most stadiums. there has been much talk over the years of the "motor sport convenient" and how difficult it is to change. i rather suspect to get this change would need the support of the fans, queue a season full of glory i suspect for that very reason!
  17. they were originally brandon bees, because there was already a coventry team, until it folded. back in the day when we had two teams, now we are looking at none! yes we know its tired and needs lots of work, but lets not forget the history, move to a farmers field and its gone overnight. i used to go to highfield road every home game, lots of great memories, they moved to the ricoh it was a "memory desert", only went a couple of times after that
  18. the fact that the leader of the council is "on side" looking for a new site, means they must have agreed to change the planning restrictions, otherwise his response would be: "we have a designated area for motor sports already" which would be my response, the fact that he is open to a new site tells us all we need to know. If sandhu has brought it back, doesnt surprise me, i would do the same if i could. he was forced to sell the site, but knowing if you could break the planning restrictions it would be 20 times that value, then you would do whatever you could to keep the piece of land. It appears he has done a SISU! in one way thats a better outcome, we know who to go to if things go wrong rather than a face;less builder
  19. http://www.rugbyfm.co.uk/news/local-news/council-leader-open-to-bees-talks/ rugby fm story, rather worrying implies that a deal has been done with the council to change the use of the land....... why else would he be "open"
  20. thanks for this, its pretty much what ive been saying, although not as well! with an election coming up nothing will happen until after that so we already into june 2015, half way!
  21. i think that people are missing the point hear, is that "Coventry speedway" is a brand, moving it far away hits that brand and will affect crowds/revenue streams, yes i know Brandon is in rugby and yes i know technical us oldies remember it used to be "Brandon bees" not coventry! you just need to look at history to determine the plan. how many pressure groups have tried to keep the stadium and won? non but in the process there team has gone. how many teams have tried to relocate away from the area and survived? no one. its all very well being on the forum we are all die hard fans, but lets not forget part of speedways "charm" is its the only motor sport that is tribal like football.. you may forget this fact on the forum, but its still true. moving away from that base will spell disaster, so for instance mallory park is in LEICESTERSHIRE, that site is closer to me than brandon, but i do not want the team to move there, and i suspect alot of the tribal fans like myself are the same! apologies to Gemini who i know is an exception! so then i hear you say "well would you rather have a team even if in Leicester than none at all" and the truth is i wouldn't think it was the same team with the same heritage so wouldn't be that committed! im just being honest, why else do teams go out of business if the team moves away, the majority of the fans think like me. stonleigh showground i think would "just" be acceptable, but then lord stonleigh would never agree to all those townies coming to his village!
  22. surely then it becomes rugby speedway and not coventry, sorry that matters to me!
  23. do you really think the metropilos of rugby will agree? the motorsport site is as far away from rugby as they can make it! all those nice new houses in cawston grange and the votes for the next election, just wont happen. east of rugby too difficult to get too, not great road links between coventry and rugby i know i appear to be a lone voice of insanity on here but if its so easy to find sites why has it taken cradley do long? and by comparison coventry is posh compared to cradley....... sorry couldn't resit!
  24. are we not? so already the expectations are being downgraded. belle vue is hardly a massive development, what are we going to get then a wooden shed and a track shop on tables?
  25. Rockingham is much too far away im afraid, the crowds for the football at Northampton have declined by around 85%. a 10:30 finish and home for midnight? i know mallory park was mentioned, but that's too far as well for most people. no one wants to get on a motorway to see a "local" team, the core three towns for support coventry rugby nuneaton and how easy it is to get to it.
