  1. its no good Matt Ford will decide what average he will be on, no point even thinking about it, he will be riding for Poole!
  2. Just think if the rumured points limit of 38 comes out, this Coventry team, which is probably the worst ive every seen would have to drop over 2 points next season..... makes you think the quality we can expect 2014!
  3. will there be a kangaroo at this court? they cant actually do anything to you can they? ban him from used car lots i suppose
  4. how can you expect sky to sign , as we dont even know what product to give them? its rumored that Leicester and Ipswich want to come up, but then what about Birmingham? can they even survive the season? we cant even run 2 home 2 away with ten teams, so if there are any more i assume its only going to be 1 home 1 away? or will eastbourne & kings lynn drop down? what will the team limit be it has been suggested it could go as low as 38 can any team afford a GP rider on that low average? it has been suggested that there will be pay bands? but that will just allow rich clubs to add extra rider "sponsorship" we have a rule book that is so full of holes, which are only sometimes found. we have a management team who clearly favor certain teams and not others. a rights company who siphon off much needed cash for the sport a gp series which causes a massive shut down when the sun shines but hey you crack on and think sky will sign a multi million pound contract on the back of that? two packet of crisps and a bag of nuts maybe but a contract nah
  5. i might be wrong ( and probably am!) but i dont think there is a great cross over between the two sports? i take your point about having then to choose, but the the potential improvement from other areas of the population could be significant. the example i would give is if Cardiff was on a Wednesday night, how many of the 40,000 would turn up?
  6. just a quick question, mid week meetings are difficult for most people with a job and with kids at school. weekend evenings have alot of things to do besides go to speedway where the setup is poor.. Why cant speedway be run during the day 3pm at weekends just like football? 1) The bus/transport links are working fine 2) No school in the morning 3) No work in the morning 4) The "old" can get back home to watch "striclty come dancing" 5) The middle aged can get down the pub/relax 6) teenagers can go down town meet friends etc isnt this why football works so well, an excuse not to go shopping?
  7. he does come across well i think, apart from the god awful tattoos and take your hat of young man, its not going to rain! its just nice to be able to be proud of UK speedway for a change rather than the constant going on and dodgy deals being done in the elite, which just makes you depressed.
  8. i think that all SCB is pointing out is that no one is forcing the guys to do this, so they have to take all that goes with it. iit a bit like teachers complaining about having to mark home work...... oh hang on thats not a good example!
  9. is it really a lost oppurtunity? where has the money gone? to GSI and to riders who spend it on top tuned engines. the grass routes has seen none of this cash. what is the point of having 1 or 2 GP riders in the league, all it does is show up how bad the rest of the riders are. no GP riders next year no sky a watered down product that keeps going for most of use into october? The reality is that Poole cant afford that team from gate recipts, so you need to cut down to what each track can actually afford. The only think sky has done is help start the GP series which has been the downfall of league speedway. No sky, then each home team can start a streaming service of there own?
  10. would need a change in promotion first.... oh hang on!
  11. after three season of the season ending in late august something has to be done. the teams that are holding the league to ransom (eastbourne, kings lynn?) should drop down. if its true its going to be a big league then no room for teams that cant get the current tiny season in at home. Also no sky means we can have a season that ends in october and not in august. speedway needs every penny it can get, because of the contracted season and no KOC/craven sheild, how many fans alone has coventry lost this season through the turnstiles, probaly 4 home meetings, at least 1 KOC and probably at least 2 craven shield meetings, that's something like 17000 regulars that didn't get an opportunity to pay £17, alot of money, yes i know very little is profit but what business would willingly chuck that away? thats more revenue than the sky money.
  12. if there is no TV coverage then what sponsor would come in anyway? only very small with little money, so its not going to help
  13. thats not good...... even easier to fiddle than the points limit lots of "extra" sponsorship, it will be a disaster, only way is the points limit, not another method yet again to muddy the water.... cant think who would have thought of that! basically its an open charter for poole to win season on season
  14. we always say in a weakened league harris/nicholls should improve there average, and every year they fail to do so. not sure what the answer is to be honest. If the rumours are true that matt Ford will be in charge of the league, id rather drop down to the PL!
  15. the thing is i know who i dont want..... its a big list maybe zengotta but thats about it
  16. two stories have recently come together about this. My understanding from (oh god i sound like shovalr!) sources... was that CCFC was looking to use Brandon as a training ground facility, however after alot of pressure on the Football League by coventry supporters about actually abiding by there own rules, the football club were told that they need a training facility with a inside training area, subsequent i believe the youth squads have already returned to the the training facility on allard way, i expect the full team to follow shortly. I know the site they are looking at around warwick university, but perhaps the idea of some High speed trains and construction may put a stop to that site as well!
  17. there are many reasons i cant attend brandon on all the firday nights, normally family issues and holidays. so i am lost to these meetings. If i could pay £5 to watch a stream whilst on holiday/stuck at home with the kids i would do so, this is a an increase in revenue not a reduction. As for the sky coverage, if i wanted to watch Poole every week id be a Poole fan, i am not and therefore do not subscribe/watch sky.
  18. thats the point thou, that is correct and you can transmit there branding. but if you did your own internet streaming then thats not an issue is it?
  19. they have no right to stop live streaming, the European court has ruled over football that SKY do not own the right to any live footage, you cant copyright live stuff, they have the rights to the commentary/production. Clubs can put there own cameras internet streaming and there is nothing GSI/SKY can do about it.
  20. it doesn't say the site but having a little knowledge of that area, there is a a field of westwood heath road, opposite the old telecoms college that the university owns...
  21. buried in the telegraph today, an interview with tim fisher and the negotiations have stalled over brandon, and are now looking at somewhere near warwick university.
  22. limited have the golden share, so basically ccfc will go down the tubes no new stadium required. AFC CC will be born and will play football at the ricoh!
  23. to be fair on the rules they have been designed to be full of holes, it needs a complete review and wouldnt take long. they remind me of windows XP, patched and patched after new holes have been found. i dont see why the rules have to change every year. the team building limit quite clealy should change and is up to the promoters dont have a problem with that and regarding the machinery what is or isnt allowed, but appart from that the core 95% should never need to be changed
  24. its possible they are looking for a training ground. go to the football league site, get the minimum dimensions of a football pitch and then measure the infill... it doesnt fit!
