  1. wolves at home or the dreaded pirates would be good!
  2. the stadium is exactly the same as when you were here last. personally id wait till its warmer! it was weird this summer giving my daughter a pep talk in the bar about her A levels, in the same position my did to me all those years ago. you can still walk round nothing much as changed, the tracks smaller and air fences thats about it
  3. bristol V coventry was something like 63-15 if i remember!
  4. he will have the german war machine behind him, i suspect he will have the fastest bikes around
  5. i agree totally, there was a time (not too long ago) when i took three kids to coventry, now they are all over 16, they dont go. the best part of £70 and then drink, id get no change from £100. need at the very least a family ticket. yes i can afford it but i choose not to because the product isnt worth that at the moment
  6. still dont see why people are moaning, we will get three riders at cardiff! when you look at the GP 15, only 3 or 4 have any chance of winning, the rest are just there to make up the numbers, so harris is as valid as anyone. it was mentioned earlier that smorlinski/harris will be fighting for the bottom spot, no way on earth thats going to happen.... smorlinski will hit the top 8 no question in my mind,
  7. at least he got this position far and square and not a nominated pick! he put the effort in for the qualifiers and because gollobs exit he gets a place, thats speedway!
  8. i have to say im not sure thats true. i would expect that a landlord would demand a block of fridays (in the case of coventry) from March till October, and its up to you to use them. i don't think any landlord would allow you to pick and choose, or how would you re arrange meetings? this all has to be agreed upfront. the costs would be just about power wages etc on the night for the NL to "fill in" the spare nights. the fact that it didnt pay (break even) says more about the local fans than it does about matt Ford i suspect
  9. fair point! 3131 seems reasonable. just think its unfair to expect any more from these guys they will be under enough pressure as it is without being expected to beat second strings. im all for this move but think the supporters need to be a bit more realistic in what to expect from them thats all!
  10. the most id expect from the reserves is 3030 & 2020 at home to expect anything else is unrealistic, especially at the start of the season
  11. a 5 point pl average equates (using 60%) to a 3 point el average
  12. POOLE promoter Matt Ford has vowed to move on with building a team to defend the Elite League title following Kyle Howarth’s surprise exit from the club. Howarth has joined Workington on a full transfer, albeit with a buy-back option clause included, and will double-up with Coventry – but Ford is unhappy the reasons for Howarth’s transfer request cited the travelling distance to Poole. Ford said: “The geographical position of Poole is nothing I have any influence over and when we have such tight points limits to work within I can only afford to have riders in my team who are fully committed to riding for the club. “I am fully committed to putting a side together which I believe is capable of successfully defending the league title and will now move forward from this episode with that goal in mind.” someone has winded his neck in!
  13. so this mythical 15th december date, how have we signed hans anderson then? how have belle vue signed scott? whats going on, another case of two ruie books?
  14. just wondered what any of this has to do with Poole? he is a workington asset so as long as they are happy who cares what Poole think? Perhaps dropping him in favour of yet another foreign ringer has something to do with it? its not unreasonable to want to ride for a club that supports British talent rather than chuck it away? its fairly obvious too that Middleditch resigned as team GB manager because Poole would have voted against the two brits at reserve, even he couldnt face that one down.
  15. wow yes i think its fair to say we mean business this year, all those poole fans moaning about being tapped up! they dont like it up em captain mannering!
  16. thats because he didnt attain a proper average last year, he couldnt score at all. basically he will be frozen out this season, no one would take him on a 4.7 its dream land if you think these guys will take any points i feel sorry for them really! coventry who were a shocking team last season would get at least 60 points against cradley, that's the gap, no point pretending otherwise
  17. interesting list... i suppose ronyon isn't included because he is too good to be in this class? might very well be true, but where does that leave him with his 1.85 elite league average? just shows the reality im afraid, anyone expecting these guys to "mix it" are living on another planet. 3030, is the best anyone can hope for.
  18. lets see how swindon get on this year, anderson already gone! you have to accept surely that if you were in that position, you would try any other employer first, its common sense really!
  19. " There is a long term plan in place to build on the success of last season a club based on togetherness and financial stability. " sounds like a belle vue press release, in all honesty the fact the team has survived is good news. i wouldnt expect much next year, most riders will see where they can get before committing to a non paying club, we would all do the same!
  20. i do agree with getting rid of all of last seasons team none of them came out of it with any credit, even zengi, who was a sometimes bright spot, hardly set the world on fire
  21. sorry what i meant from my response that evn if your number four gets 000, there is no point replacing him with one of the reserves, the gulf is too great and will just result in another 0! there is such a massive difference at the moment that swapping an under performing top five with a reserve i dont think is an option
  22. basically its code for "not even poole can afford what i want" therefore no one else can afford him either
  23. i dont think this is true to be honest. in the past teams get ringers in 6/7 and give them seven rides and they all score well. with the NL riders this just wont be the case at all. its very unlikely they would be used outside there four heats, even a top NL rider could expect at most 3030 thats why the top five needs to be even and no weak riders, basically they cannot be replaced within a match. i know this sounds harsh on the NL riders its not meant to be, just realistic, so a solid top five is 100% required
