  1. I think this actually sums up maybe the Ipswich issue - having either not been able to replace Doyle or deciding not too - they probably and reasonably felt they could get by with the team riding well and Emil covering the big heats - it was of course working until Emil got injured. The same could have happened to the Tigers, they have covered Tai pretty well with either R/R or guests - but if say Jack or Chris H had got injured (like Jack did last year) then who knows what might have happened, thankfully for Sheffield he hasnt! However Pickering has been sensational this last month or so - his performance at the NSS was really one to see!
  2. could have sworn the Witches won the cup last year - oh you meant the league playoff didn't you!😜
  3. Emils injury was a sliding door moment for sure, had he maybe sat back and settled for the 2nd place instead of trying to overtake Jack Holder he would in all probability not been injured, Ipswich would have lost the meeting or drawn it? I cant recall now and playoffs and cup finals might have been very different!
  4. join Eurosport for 'live' coverage of Shefield 88 Leicester 92 😅
  5. good point yes - like i said earlier lets review in 5 years or so
  6. Maybe so - but you can't change things from outside the tent so to speak! Being honest i gave up being interested in the morals and scruples of so many sports long ago! Just look at the premier league football!
  7. I am sure 'he" hasnt! 😜 Whatever shenanigans have gone on it won't have been just down to him!
  8. You need to allow him 5 years - the saying Rome wasn't built in a day is very true, Speedway has multiple problems and 2 years (2 seasons) is not long enough to solve them! I for one have noted some decent inovations and improvements - the programme quality is much better, we all said the beginning of the season event at the NSS was well done, the BSN coverage is excellent - give him more time and lets see! I was the the NSS the orther week to see Sheffield against the Aces - it wa s really good meeting and the whole set up at the NSS is very good. Just need to try and build on that.
  9. The Witches regained a bit of pride tonight - the first time they haven't been defeated on the night for quite a while, I expected Sheffield to cruise this, I suppose you could say they didn't need to do much but at 10pts down they looked a bit vulnerable! So congrats to the Tigers and comiserations to the Witches
  10. Well I think Josh Pickering won this for the Tigers - he was sensational at the the NSS the other week too! Tigers made hard work of this! Good showing from Tom B - would be happy to see him at Foxhall anytime!
  11. I was thinking of going to this but think I will pass and go Monday instead. If the Tigers don't win this then they need to have a long hard word with themselves!
  12. Edwards beat Ben Cook last week - he’s a handy rider - if speedway was ridden on paper then maybe but it isn’t ! meeting entirely as predicted however - it’s probably for the best this wasn’t televised as the actual match that was wasn’t bad - I have no idea if the racing was any good at Owlerton - I really couldn’t be bothered to go down!
  13. Enjoyed that match some decent races - not for the first time you can’t help but wonder if KL could stop sodding about for half the season they could actually be contenders one time!
  14. If it is a Lions V Tigers I am inclined to agree here - Leicester can be very good at Owlerton as can a full strength Witches of course but I can’t see the Lions losing to Ipswich.
  15. anyway - Batch for 2025 anyone?😃 I'd also welcome Brennan at Foxhall always seems to do well anyway to find positives - good showing from Dan T who hasnt enjoyed the best of Augusts for the Witches 2 wins good to see and Keynan and Jordan continuie to outscore their reserve counterparts
  16. nail head hit! Not going to lie there are times when i feel he should and could do better but overall he isnt the reason why things have gone wrong in 2024
  17. You will win this on the first leg alone - Lidsey this season hasn't been great at Owlerton, and whilst Tom always gives it a go I cant see beyond say 55+ for Sheffield - shame as its a dead rubber!
  18. He was known as 'Awesome Richard Lawson" when he was at Arena, he rides most tracks well to be fair so could take his pick, he'd fit in well at Ipswich too! 🙃 Well done KL, sometimes you think they stopped all the shenanigans etc they could possibly be in the mix one time to get into the play offs, Kings Lynn seasons seem to have periods where they ride well and they get results - which is hard to place into context when calls off and other stuff occurs!
  19. I do very much agree with that - Speedway as a live spectacle is never replicated from your armchair, what really doesn't help is all the stupid camera angles and producers trying to be clever, I often preferred the old videos from the 80s-90s that often showed the meeting from just one or perhaps two camera angles. TV speedway production is often very poor and clearly not run by people who know and care about the sport. I think BSN are probably about the best when it comes to the TV / streaming work and thats because they are fans! You are also right about BV being bobbins - Bewley and Cook excepted, you would think BV would be better at Sheffield but there you go.
  20. I can only assume people have never experienced cracked, broken or damaged ribs! However if they are as suggested them i'd be surprised if he is fit enough to ride for a week or two at least! Of course what would helped is if the Bv management had got their backside into gear and updated people properly after the lunchtimne meeting, it finished about 2pm and they have 5 hrs to get some form of update out.
