  1. I'd have said get stuffed to em, sadly there is a very bad parochialism in many places - I call it 'smalltownitus'
  2. Pleased he has done well - some weeks he wont do as well but thats all part of it, he is a talent but can frustrate at times for sure. I felt it was wrong that having had decent season last year in both leagues he found himself without a place for 2023.
  3. Pleased to see it as well - it was in my view wrong he didnt get a starting place in either league - waits for the usual waffle and piffle
  4. Oddly I was expecting to be at this one but will be home at Sheffield v Leicester instead - kinda reckon I will see a more even meeting there - anyway I am a curse as the two witches matches I have attended this season have both been losses - is 60 possible - no but 50+ yes.
  5. My first match at Owlerton this season - looking forward to it - rain seems done for the next week now so no issues I hope. I think a home win also but say 48-42
  6. to be fair I once attended a football match in the late 90s where the announced crowd on the night was higher than what was reported in the paper the next day - this match was on Sky Tv. on a friday night as well in what was the the time the now Championship. to be fair lots of other sports I have attended over the years ice Hockey, Basketball Rugby haven't always been that open about attendance either!
  7. it really needs 2 in there to bounce off eachother - Nigel (a huge loss) was the main man too and its clear Tatum would probably be better going back to his role of the co-commentator. It seems odd just having him do it and he probably (still) feels a bit lost withouit Nigel. At least at the GPs he has Chris and there is 2 of them.
  8. Much prefer their camera work - Scott is very good actually yes really grown into that kind of work
  9. Huge amounts of moaning on this thread - some of it seemingly moaning for moaning sakes - was it too hot and everyone just grumpy. The general precedent always used to be unless they have started the last lap then a re-run is *usually called. A bit like if they crash after the first bend *someone has to be be deeemd to be the cause of the stoppage and excluded -thse are long standing speedway rulings! As ever these are at the refs discretion. The crowd seemed very low - then again Ipswich always looked empty when the meeting is on TV - this is a shame as no evident atmosphere - the only times i went to KL was in 1990 and the place was packed out for a bank holiday may meeting and to British final semi final about the same time (maybe 89) again was packed out. There was some good racing King Lynn were in my view a bit unlucky to lose that one. Leicester took advantage to claim a decent away win. Please get rid of helmet cam and do get a producer and or camera man/women/person than understands speedway and the best angles to view a race from, most people would prefer a wider angled view that can show the action going on particularly if there is chance of passing.
  10. He has a touch of the Batchelor about him this year in that one meeting he can be great and then the next his is disappointingly poor - I had hoped he had turned the corner with a decent score at Foxhall the other night but then at Sheffield he and Barker were definitely a weak pairing - in the end of season meeting last year he got 9+1 from 5 at Sheffield including 2 heat wins. His average has also dropped a point now to 6.27 (6.67 inc Bps) thats a point in about a month.
  11. Of course they do yes - they had a stint in the DV before they demolished it -
  12. Ok interesting - be a shame really as from my memory the Rugby team no longer play there and it hasn’t hosted football for some time! Foxhall has been a better race track (particularly with Doyle about) since they made the adjustments a few years back
  13. What was the crowd reaction? Lots of 'traditionalist" not huge fans of the superheat yet when Ipswich won against peterborough last season it got a massive roar and everyone seemed right up for it.
  14. It was a 3-3 so Hume got 1* instead of 2 - in the old days that was paid the same was it not? Regardless Danyon has on occasion this year baulked his own team mates who might have done a better job at overtaking the opposition. Wasn't at the meeting - people saying trap 2 was bobbins first five heats 0 points - always used to be gate 3 years back. I do think Owlerton would benefit (if possible) from some track widening - do they still use the pitch in the centre? I played football on there probably about 15 years go now maybe longer
  15. He also had a hand in the hell on earth that is the M5
  16. On a good day But yes shorter journey I was more referring to further on
  17. traffic dependent, I do love Norfolk as a destination butt he only times I have been there it takes me 4 hrs from Sheffield usually - going slightly further than Lynn to Trimingham / coast!
  18. During lockdown I watched plenty of old speedway meetings - some were from the Save Oxford Speedway Channel many had the Nielsen era and the racing certainly wasn't that great, Nielsen often just cleared off into the distance. I also started ordering some meetings from classicspeedway that I remember being belters when I was there - mainly from the 80s and again on video they don't come across that great at all yet I remember them being hugely exciting at the time. I have always said Speedway is best live!
  19. 4 hrs to Lynn or 40 minutes to Sheffield - easy decision!
  20. he had a great season was really impressed the times I saw him ride at Owlerton
  21. Like you i would have been happy for him to have been back - I know a some don't like him but I feel he had overall a good season last year for the Witches
  22. I think oscar wilde said it was careless! however last night Dan got 3 and Joe 0 for Birmingham at Oxford
