  1. Most business people I know wont allow a few whiners on a forum to even detract from the mission of running a business, in fact they probably dont have the time to even read it - because you know running a business takes up a lot of your time - however the Sheffield side for saturday is 'rumoured' to not be very strong - but lets see shall we when the line ups are announced!
  2. Shame really - Cook rode for Ipswich in 2021 after lockdown - I saw him score a full max one week and 14 the next in summer 2021. To give him his due in 3 of his 4 rides last night he would have been up Vs Doyley or Emil and then both in heat 13
  3. Until this week when both Peterborough and Kings Lynn showed a sudden improvement in their form, I had Leicester winning both. to my mind its a stright fight between Leicester and Ipswich for the final spot. I still think Leicester will get through just by a point or two
  4. I thought you went for Worrall as he ride Leicester really well?
  5. I’ve always had a very high opinion of him - I had a disagreement with some Sheffield fans a few seasons ago when Lambert was riding for Newcastle - they were crowing as Jason Garrity had scored a full max and Lambert had scored 11 or maybe 12 on his Owlerton debut - I said let’s compare in 5 years!!! well done stars - that must have felt good to win that - gotta feel for the Panthers they finally hail themselves off the bottom position for this to happen! Sport - bl00dy hell!
  6. I did say the Lions were wobbling somewhat - this is going to be an interesting run in and this week has proved that Lings Lynn and Peterborough are (finally) not the pushovers they have been. Witches did the job tonight in getting all three points on offer, going to be tense! Both have matches against Kings Lynn. I still think the Lions will scrape into the playoffs by a point or two!
  7. aye - winner just in the nick of time! Fabulous atmosphere inside Tynecastle
  8. I was in sunny Edinburgh last week KJ and took in a Hearts match! A really good one at that!
  9. oh I am sure today they are much more complex - particularly due to image rights and provision of services through companies etc, and now the sheer amounts of money involved. The ones I saw however to me hilariously basic even for those times given the values - players involved were on 5k or 10k per week.
  10. Agree - I am from the south and my first name is Ross for some reason oop ere in Yorkshire some people call me Russ - some have been corrected several times - eventually I gave up! it is just good manners to get someone’s name right!
  11. Yep seen that myself! I know Ellis has his detractors (am indifferent really) but 4 ducky eggs is not a score expected from him so clearly a bad night! Stead’s demeanour and body language clearly showed he wasn’t happy last night when being interviewed. Tai and Gilkes excepted I suspect they all got a bit of a ‘bollocking’ last night!
  12. Let’s hope so as in my view the better the guest the better for everyone!
  13. I have never seen a speedway riders contract - however I have seen footballers contracts (ex premier league from 15-20 years ago) and I was always amazed how basic they were. I suspect a speedway contract isn’t that complex - I am sure all contracts are entered into in good faith at the start!! It will probably say something about best endeavours at all times and cover rates of pay and travel costs etc etc Not paying a rider is a breach of contact - as is ‘withholding services’ regardless of why that occurred - one break of contact can’t be fixed by another if you get what I mean / they would be considered and treated as separate breaches from either party. that’s if my contract law learning from 30 years ago still holds! Some breaches would be considered minor and redeemable such as paying late - some would be deemed completely lost now such as a Bomber and his 20k from Rye House - he could sue for it but whether he would get anything is another matter. Most riders being paid late will be presented I imagine as ‘oh cheques in the post’ - Although I do suspect some cash maybe involved somewhere in some cases! So if you are paid late would you go to the extent of breach of contract by withholding your services if payment was being made a bit late due to cashflow issues etc. also if you ride for 2 clubs you won’t risk a ban for withholding your services from one club when still riding for the other. Sadly we see football clubs doing this quite a lot at the moment. Players play on! although not for two clubs at the same time! A top rider won’t have any real issue maybe finding another club to ride for but others lower down the chain may well do and not have the financial resources ‘to ride out’ a period of unemployment - afterall in lockdown there were all kinds of stories of riders getting jobs as delivery drivers etc to make ends meet! this all reminds me a little of the issue with Uber and the status in law of their drivers - Uber said they were all self employed - the law said different and minimum rights were extended to them if I recall it correctly.
  14. I suspect c ock up rather than conspiracy as the saying goes!
  15. Gotta fair point the 2nd half of the season he has disappointed for sure Yep think thats a fair reflection - King has largely done the job expected and needed of him!
  16. now do everyone else in the league - i'll get me coat!
  17. you are too nice - id have made him do that himself! the internet is your friend remember!
  18. I suppose given all things yes encouraging if guessed at about 1500ish the Grandstand had some sections nearer to the 1st /2nd and 3/4th bends closed
  19. Grandstand half full? Maybe more plus a decent smattering on the back straight? So 1500ish?
  20. can we define decent 1k, 1.5k 2k? as Brucie used to say Higher?
  21. No denying 0000 is a dud score - however take away Woffinden and it would have been an absolute pasting! Need Tobias back for sure - but Jacks return means no Tai?
  22. Ellis - Pickering - Howarth and Kerr each had one decent heat in them.
  23. To be fair to me I generally know the difference between a native Polish name and Russian one as well - although ‘enko and ‘chenko usually denotes a Ukrainian name. ‘Ov usually denotes Russian. So at first I did wonder if Tarasenko was Ukrainian.
  24. Was just about to say the same - Emil does the same of course! That said re the pronunciation thing surely a bit of prep and asking the rider so how do you pronounce your name might be in order - Polish isn’t an easy language for us in the U.K. but writing it out phonetically would be a start - I was most surprised to see that Łódź is pronounced ‘wuj’ and I actually only learned that from a travel Tv show!
