As above, had a reply from Trevor almost instantly which was nice! Yeah, basically all sites are run by the same company in a bulk deal with BSPA. Thought as much but you never know if they needed a hand with anything else. What would be good now we have had this meeting, is if they were to put up a list of things they now need. Be that support or a definitive figure etc, then im sure there will be enough people jumping on board! Fingers crossed for an update soon!

I stated my interest in offering my assistance earlier in this thread, I have also emailed Trevor just now to offer my services, and that of my business to take control of the website in terms of maintenance, updates, etc etc also social media. I dont know if they will be interested, however as you say - someone needs to be keeping this up to date as a minimum.

Can they not open the track up for open practice like Scunthorpe do to get some extra revenue from that? Maybe hire it out to clubs like STR and Dragons? Might not be much money in it, but is it a possibility to get a bit of extra income?

Who runs the website? Who runs Social Media? I would be happy to offer my services to update, maintain and keep current any of these, this will not save the club ultimately but depends how much help is needed. Ultimately for me and I think the majority of fans it is just not affordable at the moment to go every week night, as a result I certainly doubt the majority of fans have any financial aid to give to the club. What we all have is a passion for the sport and the club and I for one will be happy to offer anything I can to assist the club over the winter and running next year, but I cannot offer money. Towards the end of this season we had a series of double headers - these were great value IMO - £20 entry for 2 meetings, constant action - BRILLIANT! If each week / other week we had a double header instead of individual meetings, I for one would make the effort to get to each and every event. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it gave me some sense of value for my £20. Im pretty sure I saw a larger crowd there for these meetings, could anyone confirm? I know for a FACT that there were a lot of new faces there seeing speedway for the first time because it was perceived as a good deal. This must have a huge benefit too in terms of overheads - the track hire costs the same from the showground, the lights run for the same period of time, the medics must cost damn near the same? Its only about 30mins longer than a normal meeting. Bring back the pink panther on the truck at the start of every meeting throwing sweets out for the kids - get the kids excited about coming to speedway each week to see their friends, get sweeties, and drag their parents with them! Thats what it was when I first started - I couldnt care about the speedway but my dad thoroughly did and I made sure he took me EACH WEEK! At the minute there is nothing for the younger guys to do when they inevitably get a bit chilly, tired etc - why not have a bouncy castle round the back of the stands for the kids to go and play on all night for free while dads are watching speedway. Get some cheap paddle bikes or something for the older kids and have a little area for them to race around pretending to be their favourite stars. Make a mini track with some cones to make a "mini track" for all the kids that bring their BMX's and bikes to race around on out of the way and enjoy themselves. I cant be certain about any of this, but if you've got a family that are not interested in going, your probably not going to bother as its not worth the aggro of having a night out when everyone else is at home, however if you have a lad or lass that wants a night out with mummy and or daddy because their friends are there - then your going to take that opportunity and go! So thats the Little Un's and the Costs covered with some ideas. In terms of the guys actually watching the racing, well to be fair I think the racing this year was miles better than anything I have seen in the EL for years. The first few meetings I saw this year had me on the edge of my seat, it was incredible and I physically dragged friends along with me as they "Had to see it!". It did go a bit flat at times but that's how racing goes some times. Double headers rock. End of. So, if I can get there tonight then I will be there to see what happens and offer support where volunteers are needed, and hope that someone can come up with some money. /brain fart.

One other problem with this, as I found with 5-1, was that if you have a development time of 6 months then by the time you get to release the rules have changed and your game is out of date before it even hits the shelves. During the development of 5-1 I had to re-write the match engine 3 times just to take into account the changes made over winter, add into that you now have 2 conference league riders in the elite league teams, I mean it changes every year. They way we decided to overcome this was to build 5-1 into what was effectively a shell. The match engine, the team format, league format, heat / meeting format etc were completely programmable by the user, with a nice little editor. Basically this meant that after the game was released and the rules changed next year, the game could be kept up to date by the user if required. We also started to develop mod tools also so that users could add to the game and increase its functionality with new events and league types. It would effectively be a Speedway Game SDK. You could take 5-1, and build your own speedway game with its core engines. Anyway, this thread now seems to be more like a "How can I make money from a speedway game?" debate. The simple answer is, you wont. I spent over 3 years working on 5-1 around other work and to date it has netted me GBP 0. Is it likely to ever net me anything? No, because so much has changed again since I last picked it up - it would almost be like starting from scratch. We had a team of researchers who supplied stats for us from all leagues I think, a HUGE amount of data, truely incredible. Thats all inaccurate now too, so would they want to do it again? Doubt it. I did have someone contact me not too long ago about taking on 5-1 Speedway from me, and continuing to develop it themselves. I forget who, but basically they wanted it for free. So that went nowhere.

Panthers V Rye House (pl) Tues 8/7/14
yahoho replied to Crump99's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Still raining, but they have committed now havent they! We shall see how it holds up! Bring your coats! Also for anyone looking at touching Oundle Road / A650 - it is very, very, very busy. If you are coming from the A1 then you will probably miss most of it (I suggest taking the Alwalton turnoff instead of the main one with the services if you dont do that allready, and those coming from anywhere else, stay on the parkways until the very last minute! DO NOT COME THROUGH TOWN! -

Speedway Livestream 6 Days A Week
yahoho replied to SpeedwayTShirts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
So does anyone know when the next stream will be on Bet365? Or another service? I dont see anything listed for Speedway in their schedule as of yet but someone above mentioned wednesday? Seems like a great service I would be interested in! -
I absolutely love this idea! Looks great - but still expensive, just not as much. Honestly I don't know why everyone keeps looking at race engines. I know it sounds stupid but Moto-x engines have a lifespan of hours, they require regular maintenance just the same as speedway bikes. They are built for a purpose and that purpose is to perform extremely well for short periods. I personally don't believe the problem lies with cost, but with "how to get started". I have been riding myself now for over 10 years and I cannot do more than 6 meetings a year without travelling huge distances just for 8 minutes riding / practice. If you want to get more people into the sport, you have to open the door. Its as simple as that. While there are only a handful of tracks opening their gates to clubs for practice sessions, and 1/2 training schools for youngsters that are more of a "one off - come and try it" type affair, rather than regularly run weekly / monthly club - kids and even the older riders simply arent going to be able to get involved. Norwich have a junior grasstrack club - that is what is needed with speedway. Speedway Clubs organising, or allowing the organisation of - regular bi-weekly speedway clubs.

Ive always been an elite league follower but am desperate to get my fix in before the end of the season! Lynn is only an hour up the road from me so I have a few questions as ive never watched national league... Is the racing competitive? I know its not going to be elite league fast but is it good racing to watch? Last premier league meeting was full of crashes and falls and was a bit of a shame - is national league like this too?
-
Another winter of insecurity and confusion ahead then!
-
Cheaper entry. Seriously that has kept me away almost all season and its terrible because I love speedway & I love the panthers! I would hate to see it go, but I cant afford £50 a week for me and the mrs to come down...
-
Please excuse my ignorance but im new to this foreign league streaming - I can only see an image and a live chat window on that stream... am I missing something?
-
This is very true! All in all, I guess trying to jump myself into a meeting with no understanding of the league or its workings, and then moaning because I dont understand is probably out of order, as it is only my fault I dont understand
-
haha ive just given up - now just watching for the racing, I mean to be honest by all accounts its fairly clear who is going to win the league, so theres no real drama to be had from the scoreline anyway
-
Negative. On a side note, as mentioned by someone else earlier - its great to see a meeting involving 4 teams where the riders are all from the same nation as the league! Riders here i've never heard of (due to being fairly inbred when it comes to speedway until recently), what if the Elite League was like this eh!
