i must admit i find the line up so far strange, with no offence to the lads mentioned, but from the initial pr about the meeting i was expecting a more spectator enticing line up with the result irrelevant but an event to try and tempt fans to the eos, even with being told they had consulted with kings lynn over start time to allow people to do both this and schleins event. with cov v leics on you can leave out bomber, garrity, auty, and also blackbird, roynon, allen (obviously pboro) but imo tai, cook,king, kennett, lawson, stead should be top there with r worrall/howarth/barker (booked) kerr, wright, newman, s worrall, birks and bates. now as said some may have turned it down which we may no know of but at the moment that would be the squad to pick from, even ask scott.

Grajczonek wins Qld Solo Title Australian international rider had barely got over his jet lag from his return after yet another hectic international season when he rode to an impressive 15 point maximum to convincingly win the 2015 Queensland Solo Title held in Ayr recently. Grajczonek rode to four faultless heat wins before he had to fend off a massive challenge from eventual runner up Jake Allen in the final. Grajczonek had to come from behind to pass Allen on the last corner to take victory from the talented 19-year-old, with the in-form Tyson Nelson having to settle for third place on the night. A field of 13 riders greeted the fans who braved the November heat and from all accounts witnessed some first class solo action. Apart from the obvious top four, there were some very good riders down the order too, including Tyson Snow, Josh Coyne, Matty Day and Dalton Nilson from Gympie and Brisbane, while North Queensland was represented by the likes of Dale Borlase, Damien Koppe and Hayden Barr. The most travelled rider in the field would have to have been NSW rider Kozza Smith who made the long drive from the NSW Hunter Valley town of Kurri to compete when there was a meeting at his home track that very same evening. It was no doubt the vast overseas experience that helped Grajczonek in the end as he rode the entire card without a loss. Riding several nights a week in the UK in two different leagues had the talented Poole Pirate Elite League Star in tip top condition both psychically and mentally for this meeting. Each rider would run four qualifying heats with the top three on points go directly to the Championship deciding A-Final with the four qualifier coming from the B-Final for point scorers fourth to seventh. As was mentioned above, Josh Grajczonek was the first into the championship decider courtesy of his four wins, second rider to join him in the A-Final was the very impressive Jake Allen who dropped only two points to qualify on 10 points, next was Ryan Douglas, another rider having only his second meeting back after returning a couple of weeks earlier. Douglas had a hit out prior to the title the previous weekend at North Brisbane (results later in this column) and like Grajczonek was race ready and hoping to give the title a real shake. Douglas finished equal second on points with Jake Allen on 10 ensuring him an automatic start in the Final. With the top three safely locked in the A-Final it was going to be a real street fight between the next four on points to see who would take the all important final transfer in to the Championship Final. Many judges would have installed Tyson Nelson as a red hot favourite to gain a transfer straight through but he had an uncharacteristically lower score (9) than he would have liked and thus had to do it the hard way through the B-Final. He would face some stiff competition from Kozza Smith who had managed only one win from his four starts on (8) followed by young up an comer Matty Day (7) and Townsville’s Dale Borlase who rode hard for his five points to make the B-Final. However it was to be Tyson Nelson who would go on and secure his start against the top three in the A-Final as he rode hard to take the checker from Smith and Day who can go away from the meeting knowing they gave it their best shot. It was now time to see who would put their name on the Championship trophy for 2014/15. The scene was not set for an epic four lap journey with the four best riders of the night to battle it out for the top honours and right to call themself Queensland Solo Champion. The Final saw Grajczonek off one in red, Allen off two in blue, Douglas of three in white and Nelson off the outside gate four in yellow. From the start it was Grajczonek who got the jump over Allen to be the first into turn one ahead of Douglas and Nelson who missed the start slightly. As they crossed the strike after lap one it was Grajczonek only just ahead of Allen with Douglas and Nelson all over Allen fighting for second. Going into turn one on lap two Allen pulled off a great inside pass on Grajczonek only to lose it half way down the back straight. Coming on the main straight Ryan Douglas had made up a heap of ground on Allen and they were virtually neck and neck at the start of lap three. As they went into turn one Tyson Nelson pulled off a brilliant move under Douglas and almost passed Allen as they came out of turn two. All of a sudden Jake Allen picked up a huge bit of drive and actually caught and past Grajczonek momentarily for the lead before losing it back to Josh G on the main straight, in the mean time Nelson was hanging on to third over a determined Douglas. As the yellow flag came out for the last lap Allen pulled off a massive slide job on Grajczonek to lead his more experienced rival down the back straight for the last time. While all this was happening Douglas had passed Nelson again as these two were now battling for the last podium spot available as they were never going to catch the front pair with less than half a lap to run. Jake Allen led Grajczonek down the back straight before he drew level going into turn three. As they rounded the final bend Allen drifted a bit too wide coming on to the straight and this gave Grajczonek all the room he needed to make one last swoop underneath Allen to pass him in the last 20m to take the victory over Allen. A very fast finishing Tyson Nelson pulled off a brave run around the outside to pip Ryan Douglas on the line to take third place. This win takes Josh Grajczonek’s total to six Queensland Championship wins since his first win in 2008/09 and puts him equal with Troy Butler on six wins and only one more win away from equalling Queensland greats Keith Gurtner and John Titman’s tally of seven victories each. The likeable North Queenslander who bases a lot of his racing in the Brisbane area running for Ivor Harm’s Brisbane Root Tiling Supplies under the (BRTS Racing) banner that also includes Ryan Douglas sits amongst some of the greats who have tasted success in the Queensland Solo Championship in the past. Names like Titman, Butler, Keith Gurtner with six wins Jason Crump with five, Steve Regeling and Aub Lawson who each won three along with names like former Australian Champion Steve Reinke, Steve Koppe, Jim Airey (NSW) Burt Kingston and Scott Smith who won two each over the years. With age well and truly on his side it is only a matter of time before Josh Grajczonek is mentioned in such company as the riders above and barring injury or early retirement will surely go on to win more Queensland Solo Titles than any other rider. I see the rule now on scb website does not state you cannot get off the bike, but you must be in full control of it with lanyard attached.

imo cant see how he can obtain one, not top 4 state title and no current 7 point average. the only reason would be if as coming in as a new 7 point assessed average is considered, but i cant see it as the wording seems to be gained a 7+ average.

But its not a "no gardening" rule, its a "no gardening if you get off your bike rule". As has been said by many and the riders, an adhered to 2 min rule is all that is needed.
