Certainly one of the best away riders to visit Owlerton last season. Shouldn't be boring at Owlerton in 2015. Welcome David !!!

Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?
Tigerite replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sean Wilson - consistent 10 point+ average rider, one of the main reasons for Sheffield's success as a captain and rider between 1999 and 2002 and a 3 times PLRC winner. -
Joe has a business outside of speedway and couldn't dedicate enough time to the Tigers so couldn't commit to team managing again this season.

Can't give you all the teams but the treble winning Sheffield team had: Sean Wilson Paul Lee Andre Compton Simon Stead Scott Smith Simon Cartwright Peter Boast Adam Allott came in for Boast mid season

More On The Decline Of British Speedway
Tigerite replied to keepturningleft's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes the seats on the home straight at Owlerton were taken out after the Taylor Report. Safety in sports facilities in Sheffield have been heavily scrutinised since the Hillsborough disaster, so Owlerton (at great investment to the owners) has complied with these and we have excellent venue at Sheffield. I believe the recent restaurant extension cost around £2m on it's self. -
Just a reminder to Tigers fans that it's the first STAARS meeting this Thursday (6th November 2014) at the New Barrack Tavern on Penistone Road, Sheffield from 8pm. All are welcome !!!

All Tigers Fans, The first of the monthly STAARS gatherings this closed season will be on Thursday 6th November 2014 at the New Barrack Tavern Pub on Penistone Road, Sheffield (0.5 mile south of Owlerton Stadium) from 7:30pm. As always it's a chance for Tigers fans, riders and management to catch up, have a chat and a few drinks from the NBT's excellent selection and hear any news/updates from the club during the silly season. All are welcome !!!

PL 4s meetings have always taken a while to run as there are 28 heats, but the 2000 4s lasted around 5 hours, Sheffield won so really didn't care

Yes, Neil Machin at his marketing best as he managed to get a local spade manufacturer to sponsor the next meeting.
-
I remember Stoney going after him with a spade at Owlerton in 1998 after Anders had fenced him

Been to all Sheffield meetings this season and a good few others and the Somerset v Sheffield meeting was the best racing I've seen anywhere this season by a distance. So many racing lines and is the best track in the country for me and has been for a few years now.

Sheffield: Fantastic the club was saved during the last closed season by great new owners. Good start in the Premier Trophy reaching the semis and 2 away wins, then injuries decimated our PL season, Great end of season with Steady winning the PLRC. Crowds up and plenty of enthusiasm about the place for the future despite a tough season.

on his average I imagine there will be a queue for his services next year.

Doubt we'll go anywhere near the Elite League in it's current form. It's financial suicide, just look at Birmingham.

Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
Tigerite replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Worky won't win a meeting in the playoffs if they ride like they have against us in the last couple of weeks and go in as underdogs. North group should be Edinburgh's. Can see the southern group being all home wins so points difference could be the key there. -
Sheffield Vs Berwick Pl 11-9-2014
Tigerite replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Berwick have a very good side for Owlerton so that was a good win for the Tigers and pity about heat 15 that we didn't take all the points but Bellego was on it all night and super fast. Great performance by Ben who's getting better every meeting at Owlerton and Steady who was excellent as usual and good points from the others, fair to say most people were surprised with the man of the match choice given Nico only scored 3 Regarding the Playoffs, I saw Berwick at Shielfield on Saturday against Scunny and last night and they don't quite look as strong as they did earlier in the season, particulary out of the starting gate. Maybe saving themselves for the playoffs but will need a big improvement to advance past either Edinburgh or Somerset. -

Josh rode for Kent at Kings Lynn last night and scored 13+2 so will be riding, not heard anything about Steady yet.
