Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
srbramble replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Anyone out there know when the wildcards are chosen? I imagine it's after the final GP, but how soon after? -
World U21 Final 3rd October Gorican
srbramble replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
If he's good enough, he's old enough. Darcy Ward has proved all season he is a highly competitive rider, and if the call for Tai to be granted a GP wildcard for 2010 gathers any pace, then Ward is easily entitled to one as well. I personally, would put both in next year, and put the frighteners up all the regular riders. I think it would be so much more exciting and very interesting. By the way, big congratulations to Darcy for his win. What on earth do you say about this lad that hasn't already been said? Megastar in the making for sure. Another season in the PL? What the hell for? Rediculous suggestion. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
srbramble replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
of course it's about generating interest, not just fans but sponsors too, and I'm sorry for those who cannot see that. It is a must to have a Brit in the series, period. We don't have a single rider who has earned a place, therefore, we have to rely on a wildcard pick. The only British rider who has the charisma and the talent to enhance the series, is Tai Woffinden, and the FIM will no doubt be aware of this. There will be others who will possibly need a pick to get in, and they aren't British, yet I hear no noises about that, and one of those is the current champion, so for those who disagree with the wildcard process, that blows the arguement out of the water. -
They're winding you up. And talking bollox.

Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
srbramble replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I totally disagree with you. It may be the case that there isn't any British rider that merits a place, but the series needs a Brit to maintain the interest from the British fans, especially with the biggest and best GP held in this country. I will admit I believe it will obviously be a business decision, but as all the big speedway nations have representatives in it, it makes no sense not to have a British rider in it, so my vote is for Woffy, who will generate huge amount of interest at every GP, and for the publicity alone, it is a must, regardless of how they get there. -
Has Sky Had Enough Of The Gp

Is, or isn't it, the truth though? Take your time to remember what you said. -

I appreciate that, but there are some that have used the cost as a reason to switch, and they still moan. -

How can you people moan about Sky, when you made your choice to go to a secondary provider because it was cheaper? Ffs, and you expect Sky to be sympathetic towards you? What a **** -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?

We all know Zagar should be nailed on, and the other 3 regardless where they finish. I was asking for your Brit pick, so either of us might be able to say, " I told you so". -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?

I'm sure I will be proved right or wrong very soon. Who would you give a wildcard to? If it is to be a Brit, who would be a bigger draw? Tai will put bums on seats more than any other Brit. Fresh new face, the underdog, charasmatic, oh, and a rather good rider too. New sponsors would undoubtedly get on board with him, and he would have equipment second to none. He can already put most of them to shame in that department. Lets wait and see who gets it. I say Tai, you say.......mmmmm, easy to scoff at peoples' suggestions, but not prepared to stick your neck out. That's about right for you. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
srbramble replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If the arguement is what Brit is going to get a wildcard, then I agree 100%. He will be the one that is most likely to increase attendances at all the GPs, which is surely not lost on the FIM. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
srbramble replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's time for some new blood where the Brits are concerned, and it has to be Tai to get the wild card over any of the rest. The old guard have had their chance, and apart from Bombers victory in 2007, they haven't given us much to shout about. With the exhuberance of youth, Tai will bring a fresh expectancy, and he is proving in and around Europe, he can beat the top riders on a regular basis. It's a no brainer for me. It isn't all about capability, generating income plays its part. Cardiff being the biggest of them all, will not be the same without a Brit, like it or lump it. With Tai in the series, I guarantee the attendances at all the GPs will be up. -
Grand Prix Challenge.

That was my idea as well. Glad to see that we are the forward thinking members of the forum, and the FIM also log on now and then! -
Grand Prix Challenge.

That's one Brit in a field of 16. And he's already in the GPs, and riding awfully. Says it all really. -
Slovenian Gp, Krsko 12.9.

The incident that got the race stopped I'm talking about. Holta was away and gone until their over exhuberence caused the stoppage. 6 points would and should have been a big fat zero, so stop talking bollox. -

Totally blame the folk who prepared the track. Even Zagar was caught out by it. A big well done to Rune Holta for getting second. Would have been first, but for the crappy riding of Nicky and Emil. -
British Riders
srbramble replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If we blooded youngster like Tai in an under 21 GP series, or a series for the riders "bubbling under", as it were. Then, the natural progression from that would be the full GP series. Run it over less meetings, and limit the field to no more than 12. -

Don't get me wrong, as I've championed the cause for covers for a while. I was just saying that there maybe a cheaper way of manufacturing the covers. -

QUOTE (Rob B @ Aug 31 2009, 02:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Got back from Vojens last night had a close look at the track covers. Spoke to someone apparently they cost £20,000. They have been made to exactly to size of the contours of the track, each panel is numbered. They are made out of thick heavy duty plastic, there was thick piece of velcro holding each piece together but down the egdes there was steel rope sewn into the cover to weigh the edge down so wind doesn't lift edges up. They did great job, they carefully pulled each section from the outside onto the centre green so all the water ran onto the grass then pulled it back over the track and lifted it over the fence. Track was bone dry underneath. Personally thought they should have given it a quick water before the racing started as it was dusty. If they hadn't had the covers no chance the meeting would have been on the amount of rain there was during the day. Sounds an awful lot of money for a few pieces of plastic, so there must be something we don't know about. -

A drainage channel running around the inside and collecting all the water at one point, and the covers raised around the outside so the water runs down and into the channel. If the covers can be attached high up on the fence on the outside, this will keep it secure. It seems simple enough. -

Well, I thought it can't be that complicated, but I've listened to those who say they know the difficulties in covering the tracks( sweating, difficult shape to cover, blah, blah blah). It seems to be a simple task made difficult by the so called experts. -

The only positive thing to come out of the GP last night, was the track cover. It would be interesting to know what the cost of it was, the material used and how it is utilised. British promotion please take note. -
