  1. Looking at the radar, the ront edge of the rain is now at Knebworth , that's about12 miles away. Still very slow moving....oh well I will take my chances!
  2. I am looking at the live radar on accuweather and it is looking like rain from 10pm ish The blobs of rain north and west of Rye are stationary and have been for a few hours, let's hope the wind don't get going and blow it towards us. Fingers and toes crossed!
  3. I guess each to their own...the thing being if most thought like you we would lose the Hammers for good. You can pass at Rye House( it happened quite often when Nicholls and Harris were there earlier this year), you just need a bit of shale down and not race a meeting after an all day ride and slide session!! Hard to tell if we will have a lot of showers/or very few looking at all of the weather forecasts available this evening....fingers crossed though. Let's hope the weather is kind ....Up the Hammers!
  4. I think you are right about losing the home track advantage. However, I have a funny feeling it will be very tight up there in Cumbria. We must gate a bit better than last night though..
  5. And lose 10k a match....not sure I would want to swallow that!!!!!
  6. It was running weekday matches that put Rye House out of business a few months ago.... Why would you want to do the same? It needs to be a weekend match!
  7. It's amazing how negative people are! Having watched all of the matches at both Rye House / Lakeside over the last two years I can say it was great fun at both venues....and me being a long standing Hackney supporter. I will again go to Rye to watch Speedway, that's the main thing. Yes it's a shame Arena is going but things move on..... I for one will be giving my full support to Jon and Stuart who thankfully are trying to keep things going...and ironically in one of our most successful years for some time! Up the Hammers....
  8. Another Jon Cook bashing!!!!! Change the record mate!
  9. Was it 1996 when we last tried the big league, seem to remember the likes of Edinburgh racing again London Lions ( Hackey Stadium). For those with a better memory than me, why did they drop the big league set up?
  10. Hi Rob, I wish you well mate! let's hope Rye get through this season and join the' weekend club' whatever that league is.! Rye need to be racing when customers want, which is probably a Saturday night. I am a old Hackney fan that emigrated to Arena upon closure but loved following the rockets as my second team as far back as the late seventies! Last year/this year I have attended both Lakeside/Rye matches...and long may it continue. PS Rob I have about a thousand KM Video/Screensport video productions transferred to DVD .....in my eyes you up there with the great Dave Lanning (well nearly!!!!)
  11. I have for the last two years attended all of the Rye House meetings, in addition to the Lakeside meetings! I have noticed this year that crowds appear down at Rye ( bank holiday Monday apart). This may be in part that Lakeside are back in the second division and doing well and supporters can't afford to attend both. I have it on good authority that to try and avoid always having to run on the Monday/Wednesday slot, which many supporters don't/can't attend that the Rye promotion requested that they run on a Saturday night....with two full teams/ no guests. This was apparently refused by the powers that be.....Why? I think Rye have been sold down the river with the promise of TV money and now having to run on nights that I don't think suit them financially. I can easily see them dropping to the second division next season to generate a few local derbies...and bigger crowds!
  12. Hi All, Has anyone got any photos of the centre green / track so we can all see what it now looks like please? I am picturing a small Ben Nevis on the infield....I hope I am wrong!
  13. I can't help thinking there is no difference in standard between the two divisions! Nick Morris at No1 for Swindon...and No1 for Lakeside...and the comparisons go on!
  14. So what is the issue with another team bolstering the numbers of the top league!!! Surely the more teams coming to the tapes the better...you have a really blinkered and narrow minded view teaboy
  15. I think Poole need 3 pts to be mathematically certain of 4th place!
  16. The 'Rising Sun' public house , Poole Harbour (hic)
  17. Leaving Kennett and Holder as a replacement...oh dear not good
  18. This won't happen..but if it does Andersen or Kurtz can fill in...I assume their averages work. Just checked..both Andersen and Kurtz averages are slightly higher than Lambert but not by much. Are they able to use a riders average plus 5% these days?
  19. So it all hinges on who does what against whom....bit tight to call now
