  1. I'd have liked the partnership to have lasted more than one season so I hope they've got someone with a knowledge of the sport helping them. However, when you see how successful their car racing team is it will hopefully be exciting times ahead. Hopefully all those fans who stayed away because of Len will come back because if the club is to be a success it's needs a good fan base.
  2. I can only go on what I see. I watch PL live every week & watch the EL on Sky. The most recent EL meetings I've seen were the EL playoffs. IMO those semis were quite boring. If my team were involved I might think differently but as a neutral I don't think they did much in the way of entertaining me. I did say a poor EL meeting, I never said the EL was poor. The change of format in the EL since the introduction of the fast track system has been a good one for me as we don't get sgp stars racing novices. I hope the PL introduces it. I've never looked at stats of what helmet colours wins most races. Tbh it doesn't interest me. Whatever floats your boat but I'm not sure what relevance they have to my comment. My enjoyment of the sport is based on the quality of the racing. Im not a fan of four riders being strung out across almost half of the track.
  3. I agree Shads, It wasn't a very entertaining meeting. Add in the cost of a programme and £20 was way overpriced. Racing wise, it reminded me of a poor Elite league fixture. A couple of 'top' riders & the 3rd & 4th riders half a lap behind. Most of us knew who would win when the pairings were announced. The fact that the riders didn't do the last race, which might have been a good one, sums up the night for me. The highlight of the night for me was seeing Neathy back.
  4. I don't agree that they will have to team ride. If the scoring is 4,3,2,0. You just have 2 races. The top boys fight to win & the junior to beat the other junior. I accept the pairs may be a better format with this line up but it's not a a format I particularly enjoy. They will be desperate for none of the invited riders to pull out.
  5. Have to admit it's not exciting me. Im not a big lover of the pairs format especially in these kind of meetings where the pairs don't really mean anything. There's likely to be a Rye rider in every pair so I don't really care who wins. The Raiders have been great to watch this year but I don't really want to see a gp rider half a lap ahead of a kid who has a few months experience, not only from a racing perspective but also for safety reasons. I'd have liked to have seen an end of season meeting for the Raiders or Rockets with (hopefully) the best visiting riders of the season. Someone like MPT is not necessarily a big name but is a bit of a track expert. Mind you, I think the season ends so early for some teams nowadays that I imagine that lots of riders pack up their equipment before mid October so it's probably difficult to get a full strong line up.
  6. From where I was, which was very close, he seemed to have the hump with Hughes when BWD crashed and so made a point of telling Rye officials. Not sure why. Horrific looking accident but Hughes appeared to be in front & BWD out of control as he was trying everything to win an important race. Strange thing is he didn't have any issue with his rider being the cause of the two previous stoppages.
  7. He scored 5 points at Rye in a NL fixture. He'd have to improve a lot on that performance to score well in the PL. Especially as the reserve format in the PL is very tough.
  8. I must admit I didn't think that Zac lad at Birmingham looked that impressive at Rye. Other than the riders wanting to race elsewhere.
  9. I witnessed first hand on Saturday night how difficult it is to get guests.
  10. Surely he'd need it to be more than just a floated idea to attract a decent line up. The way the speedway season is set up nowadays riders won't wait around for a meeting weeks after their last one. Some clubs are almost finished for the season as it is. Also, a decent line up is very subjective. I'd be surprised if we all had the same idea of a decent line up as Len does, so why is it down to him if he is not the only promoter?
  11. Quite impressed with young George Hunter.
  12. Hopefully it's a bright future at Rye House. Team changes to the Rockets seem to be a step in the right direction. We now have three strong heat leaders. If the improvements to the stadium are done during the winter then we could have a great little stadium. There is a lot of potential at Rye if it can be unleashed it could be a big success. Hopefully that can include training schools & a national league side.
  13. The rumours about EL are interesting. I'm not sure the fans have an appetite for it in its current format.
  14. Puts pressure on Kasper to score big to support the heat leaders. Reserve heats are going to be tough.
  15. Teams like Kent are not helped when the stronger sides are bringing in riders who have been racing on the continent & so shouldn't really be assessed at 3 points in the NL.
  16. Maasen was a gamble at a time when we had injuries & Dan Greenwood was struggling to get points points. We've been fairly good at giving young Brits a chance of PL racing.
  17. You never know. A year at Rye could see him piling on the points for a year & earning big money before leaving the PL for good.
  18. Easier decision to realease riders who are missing matches rather than ones struggling but who are available.
  19. 4 o clock would have been fine by me as I live locally but a lot of the riders travel a fair distance & get to the track a lot earlier than most of us fans. Any call off has to have that in mind. However, in fairness to Len, he has been honest enough in his press statement that the forecast was only part of his reasoning.
  20. To be fair the forecast all week has been for storms today. Looks like the forecasters got it wrong.
