  1. 1980, that was the first side I can remember supporting for a whole season. 1988, still my favourite side. I recently re-read Mike Western's book about that season.
  2. I can't see it happening but I'd like it to. The track isn't as great as it was at the start of last season IMO.
  3. I don't disagree with that. Not sure if the power of the bikes make it that easy on the small tracks. TBH I've always thought a practice would be a good idea.
  4. KK used to be quite a regular spectator at Rye with Mark Courtney. Mind you the track has changed since those days & the Ben fund meeting.
  5. The track wasn't great but you'd think KL's was as good as Belle Vue with the criticism on here. Unfortunately more and more speedway is from the gate especially on the smaller circuits. We've not put together a team of gaters and so if your top riders are consistently being outgated by them then they've got to look at what's going wrong. The defeat last week seemed to shake up the Rockets.
  6. I can see this happening more & more. Bikes are so quick & I was told a while ago, can't handle too much grip on the tight tracks so there is not much dirt to race on. It seems unless a rider makes a mistake passing is difficult.
  7. Track wasn't brilliant but probably appears to be the worse meeting ever when your two big hitters don't make an impression.
  8. Pity John Sampford & Peter didn't work together.
  9. NBJ would make us stronger straight away & is a rider who still has improvement in him. Bargain of an average.
  10. The second strings were going to make or break this side but were always a gamble. Robbo probably scoring as expected but Davey clearly still struggling. Most sides will be looking at bringing in the same riders so it will be a mad scramble for who reacts first. Rye cant really afford to wait until averages change whereas some clubs may have to.
  11. Could do with cloning Craig so he can do the announcing from the box & interviews in the pits during the meetings.
  12. I'd quite like Palovaara at reserve. He's been great at Rye and his average isn't too bad.
  13. Danyon would be a good punt if he's on a 2
  14. That's a good price. Things are expensive down here. £12 for Ryman league football five minutes from Rye House.
  15. London Lions basketball team charge about £20 for an adult ticket so I think £15-£20 is probably the going rate for sport nowadays. In fairness to the promotion of Rye House they are funding the stadium redevelopment & trying to take the club into the top division in the country so the price increase doesn't seem too bad, although I'd like to see the return of decent second half events rather than fifteen minutes of racing drawn out over 2 or 3 hours.
  16. Palovaara seems to have a liking for our track. Good score for Glasgow last year & good performance for Newcastle last night. He'd be a useful addition on his 5.80 average. NBJ should be a must as a third heat leader on 6.98.
  17. You don't agree with someone's opinion, fair enough, no need to issue threats.
  18. I agree re the choice of rookies & lack of knowledge/contacts. I think Rye got caught out there. The club needs weekly training schools. I do wonder if Peter has too much to do running both sides & the training school. Danyon has clearly benefited from the Poultec course. Quite a few of the riders on the course have improved well this year. If if his improvement was as much as it has been the side would have been greatly improved with him in it.
