Eastbourne To Close Down
jimmy jimmy replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
These days, unless you are viable to be able to race midweek, the EL is not the league for you. I don't think Eastbourne have the catchment area really for top flight speedway do they?? EL should include Dudley and Ipswich IMO. Race once at home and once away to get a regular season winner, then split the league in two, top 5 race home and away for the Championship, bottom five do the same for the plate or something. That gives you 13 home fixtures and competitive matches. You can have your number 1 as a job share and the bottom 3 positions (1 second string plus 2 reserves) in the team should all be UK riders as a minimum. -
The Decline Of British Speedway
jimmy jimmy replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Replace Eastbourne and Birmingham with Cradley and Ipswichor Sheffield and away we go -
Well try employing more British riders then, and this problem becomes less and less. The glory days of speedway was when the sport here was dominated by UK and Australasians, rather than Danes, Swedes and Poles. Why anyone is surprised that a Polish rider misses UK meetings for a Polish practice session is beyond me, 80% of his earnings are from his Polish team. Christ, I would do the same if 80% of my earnings were at risk.

Belle Vue National Stadium
jimmy jimmy replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
But it will be nice to watch them at a decent stadium for once. I also don't see any reason why a second GP can't be held there with a 15,000 capacity with temporary stands like the one at Vojens -

Bah humbug...... Well I would love to see the World Cup, a European championship round, world u21 final, etc at the new stadium, even if there is no second GP there ( although they have held GPs at a lot smaller venues). -

Why won't people on here see this as a good thing? It's just pathetic, if this works then there is a live case study for other tracks to follow and maybe improve on?? -

Maybe SCB should invite a few Coventry councillors up to see opening night, and Nigel Pearson bring some from Dudley too. Both clubs will need stadia of their own pretty soon too. -

Well if Bech is put for the next 6 matches, why not sign Danny King to race instead of him? -

Are They Really Saving Money?

Given the number of Uk riders racing abroad (tai, Scott, bomber), that won't be much -

The bigger picture here is simple. If a success can be made of this, then it can happen elsewhere, maybe Cradley, maybe Coventry, both of whom need or will need tracks. If this sport is to taken seriously, it needs big city teams, and for those to be successful. The national media won't cover Poole and Kings Lynn regularly as they don't know where those towns are. -
Belle Vue Vs Lynn 4th Aug
jimmy jimmy replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Cookie has only been a speedway rider since 2009, give him a chance. His lower average may actually give him better opportunities to race abroad next year perversely. I am certain he has no intention of becoming the next Chris Neath, although I don't know who he is. -
How are they going to put a team together for the PL? No riders I can think of going spare.

Tai Woffinden's Views On Single Night Racing In Uk
jimmy jimmy replied to clambo71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not enough people turn up to speedway to warrant the best riders in the world coming over. Christ, we can't even get the European speedway event here, it's pathetic. Lambert will do 3 years and then he will be gone too. When you see the support for tai at Cardiff last weekend, it is lamentable how bad the current UK set up is. -
Tai Woffinden's Views On Single Night Racing In Uk
jimmy jimmy replied to clambo71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I am not even sure it has to be the same night, it just has to be one night per week. Then you have a chance of building a sustainable top league. I don't think the top guys care if it is Monday one week and Wednesday the next week. It is just knowing it isn't relentless racing for a tenth of what they get in Poland. -
Belle Vue V Wolves 16-07-14
jimmy jimmy replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He will have a doctor note so a guest should be available. Of course he will miss UK over other leagues, he makes more in one week in Poland and Sweden than in 2 months here. You want to keep the best then pay them accordingly. And lose the "he owes us" crap, he stopped owing Wolverhampton the day you won the league with him in it. Lindgren walked out on you last pre season and Woffinden will this pre season. You don't keep World Champions on the cheap and the BSPA need to work that out. -
Wolves V Belle Vue Aces (14th July 2014)
jimmy jimmy replied to stevebrum's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He owes British speedway nothing, he has put it back on the map! Neymar, off back to Santos from Barcelona, you owe them everything. Ronaldo, Madeira for you, not Real Madrid, and as for you Woffinden, you owe Scunthorpe for your big break, not Wolverhampton so get back to the Premier League. -
Wolves V Belle Vue Aces (14th July 2014)
jimmy jimmy replied to stevebrum's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well if the rules allowed a squad system where Wolves could use either Lindgren or Woffinden, there wouldn't be this problem would there? Poole could do the same with Holder and Ward, etc Teams have the option to squad rotate or not. Easy! -
Why are Onesport clowns? They seem to run a successful event and I wish a round was in this country.

Wolves V Belle Vue Aces (14th July 2014)
jimmy jimmy replied to stevebrum's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Give him a break, he is totally knackered and will feel he has let Wolves down tonight. He is a proud guy and it won't be for the lack of effort he got 4. Watch him get 15 at our place on Wednesday. If you don't want him, we'll have him! -
The Difference In Attendances At Tracks
jimmy jimmy replied to mdmc82's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Tai Woffinden's rise to prominence has put an extra 7500 - 10000 on the GP gate. A crop of top UK rides will bring crowds back.
