  1. Very good meeting, Kings Lynn is the finest racing track in British Speedway.World class speedway riders have total faith in the track and the racing is 1st class.Holder and Ward will be dominent forces in World Speedway in the near future IMO.Batchelor lets himself down with his petty remarks, would never hack it in Grand Prix Speedway with that attitude.
  2. Well Said, there has to be entertaiment value to attract the fans and surely for the young guys their sights are set on beating the old hands to gauge their progession.Promoters always seem to want the best of both worlds these days regarding 3rd tier racing.Should not pay over the odds but there has to be a balance of youth and experiance.
  3. Near enough for me 50 years on
  4. Think he was an Australian, don't know if still around.
  5. Brian Mckeown also rings a bell.Possibly Kev Torpie before he came to Monarchs.
  6. I remember him riding for Middlesboro at Old Meadowbank early 60's.Eric Boothroyd was in that team if my memory is still OK.
  7. Yer up to late, Johnno announced his retirement more than a week ago
  8. I sincerly hope Peterborough do run speedway next year, speedway at the Showground has to be kept going to save another venue for closure and lost to the sport.
  9. Mainly because the BSPA say so.Its their ball and they like to say who can play with them.
  10. To lose speedway at the Showground would be criminal some fantastic speedway over the years on that track,The BSPA should be ashamed if they have turned down an application from Peterborough to go PL.Sad state of affairs IMO
  11. If Plymouth meet the standards set out for the PL it is a disgrace they are not allowed to move up.Speedway is in a total shambles these days,it is no wonder fans are turning their back on the sport it just cannot be taken seriously the way it is run.
  12. The point being there is not enough people coming through the turnstile, which you acknowledge.
  13. You are right in that respect, Buster's " other interests" will always come in for critisism in some quarters if the Stars are not successful but thats life.
  14. I think there are a few Promoters struggling to pay the "going rate " which tells us some thing that we already know Certain riders are overpayed IMO given the economic climate.I think some fans are voting "with their feet " for that very reason.Machin has been saying this for years about the "senior riders" and I for one tend to agree with him.
  15. Not a lot of worlds best in the EL these days
  16. Congratulation on a well deserved success,A few teams should take a leaf out or your book regarding how to develope and run a team in the National League in the spirit it was set up for(not paying over the odd's for riders who's career is on the way down).Wish you every success in the future.
  17. While the weather tried its best to spoil the meeting the track held up very well and seemed to ride OK for those that were interested.Unfortunately IMO it was the so called EL and PL superstars that did not seem to like being Handicapped and did not put in a lot off effort at times .Full marks to Complin,Fisher, Kildemman,Porsing ,the 2 Poles,Mcgowam and Wright some of the other should have stayed at home and watched "Strictly". Next year the Promotion should bring over as many foriegn younsters as possible and forget about "senior riders" and all their excuses.
  18. Cheers, should have got it right I was there every week for the 2 seasons.Good racing Reider Eide was the "King"
  19. In the book "history of the speedway Hoskins "Ian states that he had never ridden speedway before his debut at Edinburgh. He also states that he signed for Poole in 1966 and retired at the end of the season, which is a load of nonsense. He rode for Hoskins at Coabridge in 1968!!!!!!!!!!.He also rode for Exeter and possibly Wembley after that.
  20. Great stuff, makes you wishI had kept a diary what memories. PS Sounds like we stayed in the same B&B
  21. Regarding the protest,There was an extra race but the same 2riders that were in the original final were 1st and 2nd Hunter & Gilbertson.Ironicaly Hunter's e/f when leading final might not have occurred but for his extra race. But that is conjecture and the records show Mauger was the Champ.
  22. Jimmy Squibb was involved too if I remember correctly. Those were the days EH!!!!!!!!!!
