Gp Qualifier Berwick 16/6
Fromafar replied to Warm&Cosy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Quite a lot the Scots had to fight wars to try on hold on to Berwick finaly losing in round about 1482 ,its just a pity the press release in not quite up to date. -
Young NL riders can only learn from being on track ,if you are under to much pressure you are not up to standard yet. Most promotions will stick with you if you are improving IMO.NL is a training league for most teams Ps I do understand what Dean was alluding too.
-
Good post Dean, most young riders struggle with dirt on the track. The problem might be that there are far to many slick tracks nowadays, but can't see anything changing that fact.IMO meeting are called of because of this fact, tracks are just skating rinks when wet.Years ago with dirt on tracks the riders just stuck on a boiler suit and an extra pair of goggles and got on with it. But these days are long gone. Good to see you can still show these young ones how a decent track should ridden.

So Who Will Be World Champion?
Fromafar replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would like to see Holder win it he certainly is improving each season .Might be his best chance if his pal Ward joins in next year !! -
I agree Technology has taken over .
-
Did Kalle not move into the team though, not dropping down.
-
No he started over here with Edinburgh then went to Glasgow.
-
Ksiezak's good season was mainly due to Shane Parker nursing him round Ashfield most weeks.

Good post, nowadays if there is dirt on the track many riders stuggle to work out how to ride it,Its meant to be dirt track raciing.

Is Courtney still one of his pit crew.Sounds like it. -
I don't think that there are many riders that have not been given a chance in PL if they have shown some talent,it is noticable that in the last couple of years the younger ridersare actually showing some promise compared to previous years.I will concede that there are too many average foriegn riders also been given a chance in PL and you have to ask how much are they demanding in relation to British talent. Buxton have a good record for giving young riders a chance which was why I applauded their stance on wages.
-
That is the exact point I was making and well explained Thank You. Up and coming riders with ambition will not be expecting to make money at NL level IMO,they will want expierience and track time and move on. The original 2nd division developed in to a National League and pay rates went up accordingly but there is no way that this present NL is going to be anything more that a development league in the financial climate and I admire teams like Buxton who treat it the way it was originally intended.
-
I respect your pay policy, too many riders in NL trying to make decent money (i.e £25/pt) and treating speedway as a hobby. If every Promoter was like Buxton there would be a lot more geniune talent produced.

Nigel for me ,+ The Shay was one of the finest tracks in speedway, along with Hyde Road and Old Meadowbank.
-
Considering it was a purpose built stadium and track, if it has a real problem with shape surely it wont be too big a job to alter the shape .Lost fans are not easily tempted back, the potential is there at Liecester it would be a shame if it was lost once again for these reasons.Judging by the number of critics that are HOME fans something is not right IMO
-
You will be saying next its a hidden agenda another guess no doubt. My original quote was track conditions from meetings I have attended and seen Charlie perform well.Ps Does this additive they have in the water stop the track drying out!!! Len better get the patent on that one!
-
Just another stab in the dark then!!! Wrong again i'm afraid.
-
Correct But Gjedde will need these conditions to show his best IMO
-
The slick track and dustbowl conditions will certainly suit Gjedde
