1. IMO double down riders should have a cap on their points money (say£50)as its just easy pocket money for most of them. They are the riders taking the money out of the sport thats not there, just like the PL boys riding in NL.
2. Thats what happened in the mid 80's in NL but like you say "sponser money" makes up the shortfall on points money .
3. The trouble is not many riders can come from 15mtrs nowadays due to technology and slick tracks.I am not in favour of the double points either but we only pay to watch the sport not run it why should our opinions matter.
4. It will be interesting to hear the Berwick Promotion views on the outcome of the meeting, positive or negative.
5. I agree that a lot of issues are club by club related ,but IMO there are quite a lot of clubs with issues which is a major problem.I highlighted PL league Champions in the last few seasons suffering huge losses which says it all.
6. Looks like the Long HOT Summer theory was the path they have decided on
7. Can the the sport afford to lose many more die-hard fans ,it seems to be struggling to attract new fans and keep them IMO
8. That was only my observation and it might well be wrong, but given the fact that at most clubs the "behind the scenes" work if most done by volunteers I would think that most expense is down to Stadium Rental and Rider costs( wages and travel) ,but there again I might be wrong on that account too.Like I say it is only my opinion.
9. Whatever way you want to look at it It has been stated that the club is not sustainable on present crowd levels .Only the Promotion knows where the money is being lost. The crowds had dwindle by the time Peter finished ,they were up again when the present promotion took charge but seem to be dropping off again.
10. I think Berwick are suffering from the same problem as Edinburgh (bearing in mind that Armadale is 20miles from Edinburgh)in that alot of the support is not local but in the Borders and surrounding area and with the recession and high fuel prices might be having a knock on effect regarding the lower attendances in recent years. It would be an interesting survey to find out where the support is based IMO
11. As a long term fan what I can't understand is when certain successful Teams in PL in recent seasons report huge losses in last few seasons there seems to be no structure change or long term plan to make any radical changes to help the sport from one season to another and in Edinburghs case have had to come back from the brink mainly due to fan generosity please tell me what will be done to prevent them making a huge loss next season, according to my reading in SS a hot summer is what they are hoping for to revive the sport !!! Sorry if slightiy off topic but Berwick could still be in the same boat next year (if we run)
12. We will have to wait and see after their meeting but must admit it doesn.t look to promising .To be fair I don't think there is a easy answer to the general problems but you would hope they come up with some solutions that will put the sport back on track.
13. Have to agree, a lot of people seem to forget that although Wells seems to have been around he is still ayoung man and is improving every season.I think he is a decent rider. Another loanee though, for anyone that wants him not good business in my books developing riders for other clubs.
14. People post genuine concerns regarding the Club but you are saying unless they are all positve they shoudn't bother surely. if is is a constructive comment whether it be critisism or otherwise it should be welcome, not everybody wants to speak to the Promotion.Every Poster on this forum has different opinions on various matters and that is how it should be.
15.
Couple of points. 1. Your post is neither clever, constructive of funny. This is a forum and I take exception to being labelled a fanny by you. 2. The stupid wee smiley icon doesn't make your post light hearted either I actually find it quite offensive. And if you really are looking for forum fannys why not just look at the reflection on your computer screen.....
You are entitled to your opinian regarding my Post and how you construe it. 2 It is well known that is Mr Barrie's( his quote) opinion of a number of people who Post on this forum and my Post is directed at him and not you personally.I can only apologise if you have taken it personaly.
16. Thanks.Good news for the local horticultural society by all accounts on this forum
17. Can see Dick being on the 1st flight out of Argentina to sort the Forum Fannies out.
18. I think it proves a case ,British Promoters should be sponsering young brits for 2 years and helping British speedway instead of Aussie speedway.
19. I agree the racing is really the most important factor if you want the fans to return, after all thats what you turning up to watch.
20. Somewhere in-between and each fans personal opinion is MY answer your question.
21. For what it is worth I would like to see some alterations to the track which IMO might improve the chances of more passing. While I realise that the football club will not allow anything be taken off the inside line of the circuit I think if the majority of the banking was taken off the 3rd/4th bend it would slow the entrance into the bend and riders would maybe use the inside line a lttle more thus creating more passing oppertunities round the outside as now happens on the 1st /2nd bend nowadays.IMO there is only 1 very fast line round 3rd /4th bend when the track is slick, and the inside half of the track is never used.Just a suggestion.
22. You are very condesending when replying to other peoples Posts some of which are very valid .IMO
23. I could see the "Northern Promotors" voting on this idea as it is more "local" than the Southern groups regarding travel.Undecided whether it would be good or bad Idea personaly. There would be" winners" and" losers" whateverway it was done.ie Plymouth would not have to venture above Sheffield saving about 260mls on a journey to Glasgow. There is only roughly 40mls difference from Sheffield to Plymouth as opposed to Sheffield to Glasgow. Its not the travel that is the issue IMO.The teams meeting each other to often might turn the fans off.
