Berwick website has Berwick at Glasgow next Sunday the 29th ? unless things have changed and they are doing 2meetings in 1day which seems unlikely but not impossible if start times were altered

I was just really trying to highlight the point that if a rider of that calibre can negociate that kind of deal ,speedway is in trouble IMO.Like Tsunami says there will be a standard that Promoters work from regarding visiting riders. All promotions will have to fork out different amount of money even for points depending on what various riders demands are.Then they have all the extras, flights,bikes, signing on ,accomodation ect.I think the time has come when Promoters have to get tough with rider demands or there wont be many viable tracks around.Ps You cant really blame the rider . Also interesting in this weeks Star regarding Ryan Fisher he sent Sheffield his Terms but never got a reply and I think most knowledgeable supporters can guess why.

Being Honest I wasn't sure if it would pay off when Berwick announced it.It has certainly had an effect at Berwick definately noticeable increase in attendance.John Anderson comment on the website today is relevent I would say in the fact that letting under 16's in free when acompanied with a Adult makes it viable for a whole Family to attend whereas paying for ALL tha family would not be possible in a lot of Households.Being the shrewd business people that the Berwick Promotion now that they do their own catering and bar helps make up for the shortfall quite a bit I would imagine.Sincerly hope you get adecent attendance for the rest of the season and Iwill be making the effort to get to the Berwick fixture as I do enjoy the racing at Worky.

You can't have your cake and eat,it that not the gamble you take.Not showing alot of faith in the fans IMO.Accepted that it could go wrong though.

If the story regarding Glanz in this weeks Star is to be believed it'no wonder Speedway has finacial difficulties.Claims he agreed £60 a point but had to take pay cut to £40 .Bowden claiming £35 is the norm for reserves. If every duff foriegner can get that kind of money for reserve hate to think what the decent one's command.

This is a forum,whatever the opinion of the people (positive or negitive) on it, it should be treated with respect (it it their opinion,right or wrong ) as most of the posters still attend meetings ,its the people who no longer go to meetings that you should be telling the gospel too .

I tend to agree with you ,it was a cut- off date for fixtures that would count towards league position nothing else.I'm sure this has happened before.It just means when the fixture is completed it has no significance to the leagues.Ps It was already altered from original date given, due to poor summer weather causing cancellations.

They might complete their fixtures though.the completion of fixtures by this weekend was just a cut-off date for league positions and as it does not effect top six does it really matter and it is regionalised anyway.

Need to get Ronnie Allen to ref the meeting,done agreat job at Berwick and Glasgow couple of weeks ago,on with the 2min straight away if Tapes incident,flashing the green light to riders messing at the start ,riders soon got the message Meeting over by 8.30Juniors got their match in without to much rushing about.Same at Glasgow on Sunday and beat the rain that would have definately called a halt to a slow run event. Fans can accept delays when rider s safety is concerned but not the messing about pretending to be GP stars.

True,but the Promoters really have to work with each other rather than trying to "put one over" each other and suffering the consequencies.Edinburgh & Glasgow both claim big losses when winning league, was the reason the wage bill was too big for the number of fans coming through the turnstiles or value for money regarding the sport .I would suggest it was a bit of both and Speedway needs a radical revamp as some previous posters have stated.NO fan wants to see a Track close .

He doesn't seem to have run HIS speedway business very well compared to his other Companies,if that is the case.

Its regionalised where 3 meet 3 and the winners contest final looks like.Berwick Redcar &Glasgow are in same section of bottom Group whatever happens at week-end

The last month at Berwick proves cheaper admission =more fans attending,so it is up to the Promoters to agree and stick to a more affordable pay rate and stick to it (which they did not the last time they were in this situation).Its not rocket science to work out that if expenditure is more than income it will end in failure.I also agree that slower speedway does not mean it is less entertaining.

Good post ,riders have to play their part or they will be out of a job too.

Would Keith Denham be easy to deal with regarding selling the club (if anybody came forward),he strikes me to be in the same mould as the Mallets at Newport (if Icant have no-one else will).Not since to hear ANY club in trouble but this might not be the only tale of woe to emerge after the end of the season.Speedway in General is going through a rough patch and the dire summer weather hasn't helped.

A good reply to Big Ed's post an an example of how things should be debated on a Forum IMO Agree regarding track shaping, pretty sure the Promotion have approach the people concerned with the Football but were not allowed to alter anything (could be wrong though)
