  1. the riders demands are not going to be met by Promotions who don't have the money so they will be out of a job if a track closes or drops a division which could happen judging on the crowd levels being reported at a number of tracks. Its the riders who will have to look out IMO .
  2. A young up and coming rider is not going to make it to the top on Standard equipment .That is what he will think IMO .To be the best is every young riders ambition is it not?
  3. Yip,every top rider will do all he can to make sure (he thinks) he has an advantage on the opposition.(whether it is the engine or the rider, you can't tell though). They like throwing their money away.
  4. British reserves didn't get the chance work because when Boxall was cleaning up and got a big average, and the BSPA did not know how to deal with it.The rest were just coming along gaining expieriance. So they scrapped it.
  5. There might have to be a lot more judging by the state the sport is in.IMO.
  6. Reduce the Admission Price,Promoters have to stop paying riders money they can't afford,if the riders can't make living they should go off and do something else to supplement their earnings.Speedway is not a full time professional sport nowadays in GB based on attendances, needs to go back to its roots and rebuild .Get rid of 2nd rate foreigners and use young Brits.
  7. dont think Morris was unfair Robert pulled a slight locker which scrubbed his speed Morris looked to have the room coming of the bend .lambert did not seem think anything about it when interviewed some great riding from him throughout the evening.
  8. Gregs a fantastic gater but he also stays in front 90% of the time and that's not easy when the worlds best are on your tail.Worthy World Champion at 45 years old.
  9. Is he not Saying that as JS had not achieved an average by May1st he will be given his real average if the Team is re-declared,thus reducing what you have to play with.
  10. I stand corrected ,who was the main man 1992 was that when Mike Hope became involved or was it still Lindon ,my memory is fading I'm afraid. Mark Courtney was class,Fairbairn told him to stop messing about with his machinery and he was fantastic. The 15pt maximum at Powderhall was one of the best away performance I have witnessed.
  11. I personally though the best racing was when they went 1st Division, the top men rode it much better IMO .Like you say small tracks make it look a it better because of the closeness of the riders.
  12. Dont think Younghusband was ever a Promoter,Team Manager yes.Could be wrong about his involvement .Chris Morton was Team Manager at one point.
  13. Sad,but I have to agree with you and Ithink a few others would too.
  14. Need to do more than that before you can comment on a Berwick thread
  15. 7-9miles rough guess on the road awkward to get too.Sure I will be corrected if wrong.
  16. Do not see anyone tarring Taylor's or Fairbairn with the same brush as Lindon,I do agree that the loss of Ian Graham was massive blow at the time to Berwick Speedway and was probably the main reason that Davy Fairbairn decided to get out of the sport.Ian devoted a lot of time to his beloved Bandits and look after a lot of other riders business, and was a true gentleman. He will never be forgotten by Bandit supporters who knew him.
  17. Palovaara beat Vaculik and Andreas Jonsson in different races in Sweden last week then was last in his 2 reserve races!! Well worth persevering with IMO
  18. Here's my take on Berrington.I was told that it was modelled on Mildenhall for size and shape.Considering the amount of land they had I feel if the straights had been 10-15 Mtrs longer it would have been perfect.there was some great meetings at Berrington and when we went 1st Division the racing move up a notch with the Top Men showing how it is done.Pity Terry Lindon was just a con man.I witnessed the facts that Taffy alluded to with Scott Lamb and Knight being payed there wages in petty cash in a bag!!! Of coins. It was a pity that it was so far of the beaten track as I'm sure it would have attracted more support if it was easier to reach with public transport. It was a good little set up though a really neat and tidy considering where it was.Wonder how much my share are worth now!!!!!!!!!.Away to get a financial Times.! Ps The training track was very seldom used IMO ,it was just a small circle scraped out at the back of the 1st /2nd bend.
