Saturday Night At The Speedway
Fromafar replied to tigerowl's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think you could be wrong in saying never,I can't remember tactical substitutes in the 60's.Some one might be able to tell when they were first introduced I'm sure. -
Looks like it still a struggle for you.
-
Most social media sites show that nowadays, not just speedway, you just have to take them with "pinch of salt" or ignore them IMO.

Danish Gp In Horsens 08.08
Fromafar replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
it's all very well having fancy Stadiums, but let's face most of the tracks in these Stadiums are crap and don't let the riders show their skills to the full extent, there was no way you could race down the straight fairly last night, there was not enough room.Fans a paying a lot of money for a seat In a fancy stadium. -

Agree but these situations are not uncommon in Gp's.He looked fast though just got caught in wrong position in final re-run. -

They always seem to exclude the inside pass in these situations I agree with you on this one Kildemand goes down very easily. He is an entertainer rider though and is always good on slick tracke that suit his style.Tai took it well probably because of the situation on the night more than anything. -
Saturday Night At The Speedway

Fans are fed up with it now though, perhaps time for a rethink -
I think that's why most fans think the sport should be run by an Independant Body, but can't see t hat happening any time soon.Your point regarding Hobbyist promoters coming in and throwing money at the sport raising the costs is a good point IMO .
-
Is there that much to investigate? It would probably unveil the Promotions are paying out more money than they gathering in.One thing for sure you won't get any running costs or riders pay deals from any Promotion just the fact that they are losing money!

Glasgow V Redcar Pl Sun 9th Aug 2015 At 3pm
Fromafar replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I reckon if they can get Nick and Kauko back before Play -offs that will be a handy side and take some beating. -
Has speedway journalism really got anything to do with the state the sport is in.!!! The letters page was the forum before social media began, that was about it.
-
Its not the fans that should have to come up with realistic solutions it's the Promotions IMO .(if they think anything needs done).Personaly I think if is difficult task to revive the sport without radical changes and fresh ideas,Mines would be regionalisation and possibly bringing back 4tt qualifiers to creat some extra fixtures and a shorter season. You might have to lower the standard to revive the sport. The original 2nd division in 1968 was not the high standard that it developed into when introduced.

I think in recent years the weather has played a more significant part in non attendance,Health and Safety and modern machinery seems to mean not much chance of the meeting going ahead or running full course if track conditions are wet at there is any rain about.I for one think twice in these circumstances .Gp's certainly don't help regarding attendances even if it is dry.

So that's who all these young riders are copying with the right leg waving in the air!! And to think we all thought it was a modern style!! -
How many teams were in your League though, that is the question?

Agree, and the fence at Berwick seem very secure virtually no movement in it when hit by bikes and certainly never seems to lift up. -
Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe 6th August Pl
Fromafar replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Best wishes for a good recovery for Ryan.Far to many serious injuries IMO .Though Holub would have liked the fast Sheffield track, how did he look though ? -
while I agree with your post these clubs you mention are not the only clubs in a mess .I think a few more Clubs could be added to your list.

Have you not, that doesn't mean a lot to me !!
