  1. I think Mike was exaggerating slightly regarding can of beer and impeding riots.!!!!!
  2. I don't see any question in your post I'm afraid. You just stated there were averages in 1971 ,you never explained in what context they were used.I first attended speedway in 1960 riders had averages then but it was not used for Team Building the way it is now with limits imposed on team strengths .When the leagues merged in 1965 there was some very strong Teams that were in original National League, they gave the Provincial League League Teams some beatings, but it gave some great excitement when they came to Old Meadowbank.I don't mind if one Team dominated the sport it would give the others something to aim for.I don't think there is a lot of money in the sport to the extent that it would damage the lesser Teams and might attract bigger attendances to smaller clubs when these Teams visit. All we have now is riders worrying about their average and very weak teams. Most fans would like to see their Teams being developed without being broken up because of averages.
  3. When did they put a limit on Team Building averages?
  4. Averages are killing the sport, that will always be my view.
  5. They might buy out the owners of Ashfield!!!!
  6. Bottom line Havvy is just being a plonker,if Kus is not wanting to ride for Redcar what's the point of slapping a transfer on him when virtually every other team in the league just agree loan fees .Dont see other promotions doing him any favours regarding riders if that is always going to be his attitude.
  7. Excellent read.Brings back the memories and reminds of some of the riders who were the backbone of the sport in these days. Some great names in the stats.
  8. Excellant idea regargarding the purchase of 2nd Ambulance.Ihave one query though regarding meeting delays due to injured riders ,if both Ambulances are fully equipped is it not a shortage of a 2nd doctor of trained Paramedic that holds up the meetings due to transfer of paperwork and ambulance etc.We have had 2 ambulances in pits for number or years as far as I am Aware.
  9. Ps might have misread you post.Do you mean Monarchs might get pumped AWAY from home?
  10. What are you on"a few teams should be able to pump Monarchs at home".I will have a pint please.
  11. Good call, that's what I was thinking might be next big Aussie.
  12. Being honest I don't see a lot of sensational 3pt signings, just some slightly better than others.
  13. Agree some of the 3 pt men have had a few chances already.
  14. Think this shows that's these "average" measures do nothing for the sport. All it does is make ordinary riders become much sought after just like lowering the league averages in previous years made 2nd strings the most sought after riders.Young riders should just have the desire to suceed and get on with it.If they can't afford the sport just get out of it.
  15. Problem is the BSPA think every thing is fine, you will never changed their mind ,it's their ball and your not getting it.Every close season the same subjects up come up for discussion between the fans but their voices are in vain.Look at this years shambles!!
  16. Merry Christmas to all .(including forum fannies).Espially for Dyson24 ,appy Chrimbo ope Santa cums wth yr tys.
  17. think they can drop below it ,but would still be a 5 regarding average. They have to start a lot lower than last year thanks to their success nothing new there! They have made a lot of shrewd signings in the past few seasons so good luck to them.
  18. Whoever it is he is riding on terms the Edinburgh offer and not over inflated terms their original 3pt man was wanting and was told too " forget it" according to article in EEN.
  19. The question is,what end are Buster and Rob at.?
  20. British League will do.The sport is in decline in GB and needs to re- invent itself. One league would be a start IMO .
  21. Cant see many fans of Northern Teams wanting EL racing.PL is a decent product compared to EL IMO
