Dont think the Championship is a side show when I look at the Premiership.! In name only IMO . -

AskTerry Linden,I'm sure some riders didn't get paid what they were promised, but more importantly don't think the crowds at Berrington were covering the cost of running in the higher league. The trouble with speedway is Promotions don't like to divulged running costs ,they only tell fans when they lose money .As the leagues stand at the moment any Team in the Champoinship would have to think twice regarding Promotion with all the local derbies that would be lost.Unless of course they get a massive financial incentive to move up,but we will never know that answer.Rye House looks a good example, who is covering the cost of that Team this season, will the Promotion make a profit or are the willing to take the hit if things turn out loss making.Dont think Kelvin and Jimmy would be cheap in that Berrington Era .The racing was great though while it lasted. -
It will soon be a circus of 14 riders riding at different venues every night of the week masquerading as different clubs.

Does British Speedway Have Future?
Fromafar replied to Pieman72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Good post,Although if we are lowering the standard we should be promoting more riders from NL if 2nd strings and reserves are of similiar standards it should produce decent racing, which fans want.British speedway just can't afford the top guys in the numbers to make it competive throughout the league. Also they are not really interested in the diversity of British tracks with are more technical regarding set ups and better bike skills. -
Have to agree it a complete joke.Cant believe that's a solution to speedways problems. It should have been teams of your own 7 riders as a priority.4 men /4laps is all it is,whether that will have new fans flocking in who knows.
-
At least the Promotion/ Relegation play offs won't be a forgone conclusion. The big question now is how much are we expected to pay to watch this product. That Rye house Team looks expensive does it not.

Nathen Greaves ,has he improved much in the last couple of seasons, his average says he hasn't ,wouldn't have him.

Should have had one big league IMO.This doubling up and down nonsense makes it all a bit of a farce . -
Colin Caffrey for Glasgow
-
Correct, but I think even you would admit Newcastle were pretty poor in the 2nd leg.You have a good Team though.I thought last season the heat leaders all had turns of inconsistency at various meetings throughout the season.
-
They proved that pressure gets to them when going got tough last season.
-
Its a good team if the bottom end live up to potential but if they don't the top end can be suspect when the going gets tough.Looks a tight league next season though.
-
Its amazing the number of promotions who state Barker is a great "team" man but few actually keep him.!!!!
-
Its all about averages nowadays,Trying to find a rider with the right average who will improve it is a difficult situation to be in.If a promotion picks aTeam with a couple of points to spare under the limit they get slated.Campton seem a decent signing to me ,he will ride to his average IMO ,and might improve it.Name 4-6pt men(many have been about for years)who will put 2-3 pts on their average.
-
It's good for Glasgow to get this meeting, the only criticism I have of the Stadium is the viewing on the back straight, the layout ot the terracing makes very restricted viewing at some parts. If there is a large crowd it might be a concern.Imo
-
Agree looks like be a very competitive league.Think the BSPA missed a trick by not having 1 big league next season, there is only about 1/2 dozen stand out riders in their "big" league.
-
Glasgow are sensible, the "top" league is not much better than Premiership. They now have a lot of local derbys with Northern teams. The owners spent their money on stadium improvements now the speedway has to pay for itself .That is a hard ask for any club these days.Sensible choice IMO .
