Majority of the high end riders are riding. 2-3 times a week all over the place ,only interested in raking cash as that’s their full time job for 6 months. Many of them certainly ride as though it’s just another day and another dollar IMO.
Crowd
Crowds levels at most tracks simply struggle to meet riders wage demandsthesedays, other income is essential. Its not going to end well for a lot of riders .Thats the bottom line IMO
There was always a track spare at a lot of tracks in these early days .I certainly don’t remember riders withdrawing from meeting”quite regular”.Im sure most could also borrow a bike from team mates if desperate. It was also “semi professional in these days at NL league level most riders had other jobs
It’s struggling big time for various reasons which have been discussed endlessly on forums.unfortunately the answer is not if you don’t support it you will lose it (although probably true) which seems the only answer Promoters can come up with.As a professional full time sport in UK it had its day IMO
That rules out any changes then.It was just a thought.
The entertainment factor is diminishing with modern speedway bikes ,but powers at be seem reluctant to address the problem. There again that is just my opinion.
Agree, you don’t see the riders messing the Start Marshall about like they do here ,the match I watched last week he was even straightening them up if he though they were lining up at an angle ,no messing.
