Have never rated Clegg but the situation says he would do what's required given the standard that has been created,you can see the problems with averages arising shortly when the loop holes start to appear.

I’m afraid the state the sport has got itself into regarding averages and reductions it’s probably a decent signing if they went for him.

If you cast your mind back to Mid 8o’s,84 I think they agreed a wage cap but Berwick( Davie Fairbairn)work round it via sponsorship( which is always the way out), but unfortunately injuries stopped Berwick winning the league.Cribb,McDermott,McMillan,McKinna did not come cheap.

He didn't set the championship alight last season hence his average below 8.Maybe a ploy to stay in employment though.

Maybe that's what May told him as he tried to sign him up again.Cant blame Wright if he gets better offer after what happened.
