I’m sure the Scottish Clubs are very glad of the grants, what surprise me is the they were awarded different amounts.Wonder what the criteria was regarding this matter.!!
That’s a fact, but I think quotes saying Speedway should be £10 sport we’re not taking it in that context.
Its a fact that the double headers are £24 and single fixtures are £17 (ex concessions).
Double Headers for Clubs like Berwick and Newcastle won’t benefit them financially in anyway IMO.( they may not lose money though)The Championship will be watered down in the next few years to suit the youngsters coming through IMO.Whether that will benefit the sport remains to be seen. When will the realise averages are not working as well as they think they are.
Masters will be right up there.Crump like Nicholls and Harris is just getting on the wrong side age wise.Crump has certainly been one of the Worlds top riders but I’m not convinced he should come back.
Reading the Berwick Website +fixture list it states that Fans will be able to attend Individual fixtures on double - header nights, with a discount if you want to attend both matches. That’s a fair enough option IMO.
Have to agree 30 heats won’t need many ‘ incidents’ not to go the distance at places like Berwick with a curfew, given that 15 of them are less experienced riders learning their trade. Fine for die-hards but might not be attractive to new supporters.Hope things go well for the Clubs running these double - headers though.
Tend to agree, would have thought the NDL would have been more viable money wise as a stand alone meetings ,but thePromotion must have their reasons for doubling up.Hope it works out for them.Don’t think the NDL as a double header is as attractive as aChampionship double header.Maybe the later start to the season comes into the equation.
The next 6 weeks till the end of April will determine a lot of things.Business is not even being allowed to open till then in Scotland and even that is not a guarantee.Sport is well down the line.
Does anybody think any track will run without spectators,I don’t think they will.Scotland seems to be taking a different approach at present.Wait and see what decision they make on the Football.IMO
Agree a more realistic assessment is needed,a decent career in Uk should be the big aim for most of the youngsters.World Stage is a different ball game for the majority. One of the difficulties is the drop in standard of GB speedway it’s a small stepping stone to reach the Top compared to the past.Top Brits in previous era were guaranteed rides abroad, that is not the case nowadays.
