  1. I was just a couple of miles away this afternoon, rain was very heavy and for about 20 minutes around half 3 it was like a monsoon so not a surprise that it was called off
  2. Lack of NHS/ambulance cover on a Saturday night in Glasgow is always going to be an issue due to resources, or lack of them
  3. Seems at odds to what was said elsewhere with others saying it was Cook doing the decking. Did anyone who was there see it?
  4. Woo hoo! Brilliant! I'll get my curling gear....
  5. Glad you said that Paul. I'm just back in from a two hour walk in a t shirt and jeans and it was maybe a wee bit overcast but pretty hot and dry. Was shocked to see the speedway was off. A bit of premature stuff going on?
  6. But you've already implied they only thought that as it suited them score wise - that's manipulation a la wrestling Hopefully screm the damage will be minimal. If there is a 'best' time for this sort of shenanigans with limited damage its just before the British GP as it tends to buoy up supporters. Let's hope so anyway
  7. I get what you are saying Paul but surely that adds weight to the argument someone posted a day or two back that speedway is in danger of being viewed in the same way as wrestling as the result/outcome is being manipulated by team managers (or should we start calling them producers?) rather than 100% by the men on the bikes.
  8. Err.....think you might have just managed to upset both sets of fans with that wee faux pas OWO
  9. You seem to be thinking you can only have one extreme or the other. No one is saying that the person on the Mike should be given carte blanche to harm your business but nor should they be gagged to the extent that it becomes bland. Someone mentioned it not being done at football, that's not true. Glasgows Michael Max had a break from the presenting at Glasgow after issues over fines (I seem to recall there was also a presenter pulled up for supposedly announcing a race result when he said A is followed home by b and then c with d failing to finish.). Michael continued in his usual manner at Partick Thistle however. Outwith the old firm most of the football clubs announcers up here do battle usually through music and yes it adds to the event. I often took Chris Simpson the wrong way when he posted on here but as an announcer he was exactly what speedway needed and his year at Cardiff I reckon will never be surpassed. Especially with the current gagging culture Post is in reply to :-
  10. Whilst Glasgow could have (and should have imo) challenged poor fixture allocation in the past when they were the longest serving Sunday track and as such due priority, they haven't a leg to stand on now. When they took the choice to move to Saturday they became the newest Saturday track and as such are now rightly at the bottom of the pecking order. That's one of the decisions the promotion took moving to Saturday
  11. He will tyretrax - at every away ground he gets to this season
  12. Lol been there many times, enjoy the visits when we come back with 3 points. Didn't say anything about the town, it's the football club I have a problem with. Will never forgive them and Stuart Gilmours for the 'just let them go out of business, it would do Scottish footballs favour' comments when we were working hard to save the club or the way they led the campaigns that stopped us getting promoted twice when we won the league. They campaigned against our ground share plans at Airdrie and Murrayfield (that was hysterical, apparently we couldn't ensure segregation there according to them) while our new stadium was built then backed Ict ground sharing at Aberdeen. Vile club. Raw nerve well and truly exposed lol
  13. Is that the soft spot at the bottom of the forth mudflats? Lol. Having said that I'm gutted that Raith are going to finish below that Paisley lot, I really wanted them down
  14. I dont know why Paul but I think there was one occassion before where Glasgow charged a £2 nominal entry. Maybe it was just a voluntary throw a couple of quid in a bucket or something but I have a feeling that it did happen before and people moaned
  15. Just out of interest, how is the benefit fund field drawn up? Are riders approached and asked to ride or do riders indicate their willingness to take part and then the field is decided from those who show willing?
  16. No disrespect to those already named intended but so far it looks more like a line up for eg an Ashfield Classic rather than a benefit fund meeting. Seems to be a dearth of names from the upper echelons of premiership clubs
  17. Very sad to read this. one of a very few genuine good guys, even if you disagreed with him on things, always a gentleman and respectful of others. Did an incredible amount for his beloved Monarchs but also for other speedway people and riders never looking for recognition or anything and wombles opening post is a perfect tribute RIP Dennis
  18. Taking it on the past set up of the leagues, I could understand why you were worried about the third heat leader position but the way the set up looks this season to me the reserve positions could be the ones where a teams season could be made or lost.
  19. Injury's always the great unknown, wish there could be a season without any but that won't happen Haven't seen much of Brady Kurtz live but what I have seen plus on tv I think he could be the big 'gain' average wise in the top league this season. I've never been that keen on Newman but usually when I say that about a rider they excel lol
  20. Get a grip Snorlax, it's all been done before, people KNOW what you did, I even mentioned one of the many things on a previous post. I wasn't the only one whose personal details you tried to post after all but you did run away in a blue funk when another member closer in location to you took you to task over it! You also beathed a big sigh of relief when I stopped my cousin taking it further and yet pretend now to know nothing. Oh you are so funny and convincing-not. It's all still retained and as I keep trying to tell you and as you know fine well I moderate nothing. Nice try to edit your last post after the reply but no one is fooled Oh and incidentally I don't post MY personal details on line, I'm not that stupid when there are people out there like you who try and bully by trying to put them in the public domain. As for you never posting any abuse, well there is plenty out there, Chris holder thread for example, earlier on here, but then why would people go searching when they only need to look at your previous post referring to me as a dick. Or do you think I have now changed my name to Richard? Your persistent bullying campaign against me for what, three years now? Well it doesn't seem to be working because I refuse to let it. This all kicked off again because you reckon it's time to have a go and it didn't work. Wonder what the next name you come back as will be? Or has the change in the way you have to register user names on here making that a bit more difficult this time? Run along now and let's leave this thread to the POOLE fans, it should after all be THEIR thread as I have said before. So....how do Poole fans rate their chances for next season? Assuming the two teams still to be named put out competitive sides
  21. We don't often agree but Cyclone has it spot on here. It already happens to a certain extent, how many posts are made accusing clubs of throwing silly money at riders when they are enticed from one club to another? Fair enough you are trying to come up with a solution balderdash&piffle which is more than I can do but I honestly think your idea would exacerbate the problem rather than help it as you'd be restricting supply and increasing demand
  22. In other words you try and deflect getting called out yet again, still don't appear to think you are holier than thou and want to play your silly games? Not to mention ignoring what you have been told time and again when you attack about the fact it's 3 years since I had even the slightest involvement. As for rubbish stirring, I kept my mouth shut for months and it's only since you decided to start your crap and attack me yet again on other threads as well as other people who frankly haven't gone near to doing what you did that I have spoken out. In other words yet again you started it sunshine Still can't handle the fact that you keep accusing me of moderating when I don't either, doesn't fit with your so many lies. My cousin was raging when you posted his wife's details as mine and wanted to go to the police. I persuaded him not to. Forgetting that as well? Not fit into your little vendetta? Don't you think if I was 'moderating' your posts I'd just have removed them by now or has your warped thought process not reached that level? Now....anyone want to talk about Poole?
  23. Couldn't agree more Been posting what you believe are any other people's names addresses and personal details on here lately? Pot....kettle...black
  24. I could point out AGAIN that its nothing to do with me and how the hell would I know but obviously some people just wont read what they dont want to or it doesnt fit in with the lies they spout so you know what? I'll just say I give up
