  1. Just for the record, in my line of work I have come across many addicts. It is an illness no matter how it started. The reality is that addicts come from all waulks of life, some have decent upbringings, many don’t. Reality is very few succesfully overcome their addiction. For the minority that do, I respect them rather than refer back to what they were when their addiction had hold as they have fought and won a battle few can. Remember addiction can come about from legit sources as well as illegal drugs. This case as it stands, it’s his family my heart goes out to. For their sake, I hope he proves to be in the strong minority
  2. Went and watched this on catch up after seeing this topic. I remember Blair riding. I genuinely hope he does succeed but I’ll save my sympathy just now for his family. His dad especially. He came across as a lovely man who was broken by what Blair has become. He was given all the advantages in life from what was said on the programme. I just hope he (Blair) will be able to see soon just what he has away from drugs and that it’s enough to make him overcome his demons
  3. Cheers Jenga, I'll live lol. I'm a pharmacy dispenser and part time carer so sitting down isn't an option. Had a few in the care home laughing today as we had a pretend race out in the back gardens, three of them on zimmers and me with my crutches. Laughter is the best medicine and best care option. Kinda brings us neatly back to speedway lol
  4. I can sort of see the riders point of view iro the quoted bit of your message. I'm currently on crutches after my knee decided to pop out again. I've got a doctors line and shouldn't be at work but I am for two reasons. One, I don't get paid if I'm off and two my work ethic has always been that if you can you do so I'm driving to work and leaving the crutches in the car. Actually there is a third reason, I get bored too easily! Maybe some riders are in the same position? its a no win situation really cos we are quick to criticise if riders aren't riding. personally just as an example I didn't feel at all cheated when Shane Parker declared himself fit ten days after breaking his collar bone and rode in (and won) the PL pairs
  5. And yet it took a few viewings and quite a bit of discussion from the pundits before they saw it. I think he was right to take his time and make sure he was excluding the correct man as it was a close call. Just my opinion
  6. Good meeting and cracking final ride from Tai that deserved the win. Good advert for the sport and what a great crowd Ill be controversial and say I thought the referee had a good meeting too. Consistent re starts and took his time to make sure of his decisions
  7. It's in the comic err I mean rule book that it is the team managers responsibility to ensure his riders getto tape within the allotted time and wearing the correct helmet colour. Someone posted the regulation a couple of days ago
  8. Tried to PM you Paul but it won't let me. sadly a member of the family has confirmed its true RIP Marty
  9. Same here Paulco, trying to find out but looks as if it's true
  10. In fairness it is in Workingtons best interests to do so. They are as you point out the home track and as such don't want negative comments affecting their business/crowd especially if inaccurate. They gave Glasgow 24 hours to do so first from what I can see so don't see the problem
  11. I'm sure he does though, I doubt if any rider wants to fail! Hope the crowds and everything improve for Worky this year
  12. Why do you think I chucked it? I'll be in therapy for years
  13. I seriously was not taking the Michael, apologies if it came across that way. The channel is a godsend, especially but not exclusively for dementia patients. It encourages talking and memories not just about the particular film but where they went to see it, who they were with, going for chips on the way home, the row for being back after 10, trying to copy the style of the actors etc etc. I've lost count of the number of times a confused or distressed resident has been calmed down and become happy with a cup of tea and a chat with them explaining why 'X' was a far better actor than 'y' but 'z' was a heart throb.
  14. Geez your geography is worse than mine! Since when was the Isle of Lewis in the East???
  15. There ya go......and sadly I can even do the hand gestures
  16. A lot of it doesn't sound right to me but honestly it's fountain
  17. Use it in the care home all the time, the oldies love it
  18. Can't agree. The riders sign contracts to the end of October. The fact fixtures are a shambles is irrelevant. Riders going home before the end of October whilst their clubs still have meetings to complete have to accept 100% of the blame.
  19. I've missed something. Why is it interesting in the pits? Genuine question
  20. Isn't Saturday Glasgows night? Shouldnt Edinburgh be running their dance on the Friday?
  21. He accused BWD of deliberately causing Jack Smiths fall and injury and continued to imply over the next few days that BWD did this to other riders. It was pretty pathetic stuff to be honest and at least BWD rose above it. An initial outburst I can forgive, it's a high adrenalin sport, things get said in the heat of the moment but it just made Worrall look silly and pathetic and attempting to be a bully the way he carried on imo
  22. After Worralls comments on BWD after Jack Smiths accident earlier this week I'd kinda like to see BWD beating him in every race
  23. Is that a relatively new rule Neil? (Last 5 years or so). I only ask as it was done a few years back when Redcar appealed a heat result in a meeting against Glasgow and the rede larded result after the appeal was farcical as they updated the Redcar rider in second, not the Glasgow rider in third and gave a point to a rider who DNF
