  1. I get your points Humphrey Was he high on drugs when he committed the offence? Can or should that be taken as an excuse? Or is he just nasty? WIth regards going into employment I very much feel its a horses for courses situation. You wouldnt put a child abuser in a position within a school, I certainly would not be happy about a plumber with his record going into the home of an elderly person - doesnt mean he cant be a plumber, just that I wouldnt want him in the home of a vulnerable person. Sport is a slightly different kettle of fish. There is the aspect of people in sport being seen as 'examples' to their fans and therein lies the crux of the matter for me. I dont think we should be putting someone with his record back in a situation where he will have 'fans' including the young and the impressionable
  2. Yip, I agree I've said to someone who pulled the old 'I have a reliable source so I am right but I wont tell you my source' sort of thing that if you arent willing to name the source then keep schtum. Its the same for this situation It was worth a cheeky attempt at trying to get the name though I didnt for a minute expect it to succeed though As an aside though, it concerns me a little that the drugs side of thing is what is being concentrated on rather than what he did to a vulnerable disabled elderly person in their own home. If you want to get over the narrow minded perception of some of speedway's image, Im not sure granting him his licence back is the way to go about it
  3. Thanks Fromafar. I had looked at it differently. There was no official result as the meeting was abandoned. In football, if a guy scores a hat trick for Arsenal but the game gets abandoned after 60 minutes the three goals are expunged from his personal record. Its just one of these curiosities that hit me lol
  4. Quick question for those up to date with the rules etc. If a track record is broken in a meeting that is subsequently abandoned with no score declared, does that track record still stand? It just seems a bit bizarre as everything else about the meeting is expunged eg nothing counts towards rider averages. It just seems bizarre that a track record set in that way would stand
  5. Serious question, who is it that you worry about?
  6. That wasnt what he was in jail for though. He entered an elderly persons house, assaulted them, put the fear of god into them and stole. Im all for rehabilitation and acknowledging time served but there are exceptions to this rule for me, and that includes this sort of behaviour, drug dealing, child abuse
  7. Depending on where he is travelling from and the summer schedules it is probably cheaper for him to do that and more convenient Fair play to the fan picking him up!
  8. I always think if you are going to say ‘someone told me but I’m not going to say who but they are a rider’ then you shouldn’t bother. Firstly if you won’t name your source don’t say it, secondly if your source was talking to you off the record it’s not exactly enhancing your credibility if you run on a public forum to imply it to make yourself look important. At least that’s what I’ve been told by someone who knows these things and is famous but I can’t tell you who
  9. Yeah thats another crazy thing. Fans are quick to complain about lack of value at speedway yet when promoters agree to delay 15 minutes to give fans as strong a meeting as they can they get hammered for that too. I cant believe I am sticking up for promotions but in this case I think they are getting unfair stick (and unlike some I speak out when I think someone is being treated badly)
  10. I dont think it was Stevie Lawsons fault either!
  11. I know you can blame speedway promotions of r a lot of things but to be honest I dont think rain of biblical proportions can be down to them
  12. If you are really interested the WADA banned list can be viewed at The Prohibited List | World Anti Doping Agency (wada-ama.org) Even in the pharmacy we would have to start off on line with this
  13. Im trying to figure out if you are brave and single or married and have a death wish lol
  14. See when Glasgow announced that the meeting was being delayed, are you sure they said it was to let FANS in and not VANS? It was some entrance from Chris Harris though and to go on and get a paid win with no chance to warm up or mentally prepare was impressive Edited to add:- I agree with you 100% Bloom89. Harris's commitment to the sport has been superb, its a shame not everyone has his ethic
  15. I was told directly from a rider a few years ago that all prescription meds must be disclosed and they should also be advised if any other meds are prescribed throughout the season. I'd be very surprised if that had changed tbh (although I dont know)
  16. Topical medications just affect the area they are applied to though and don’t go beyond the skin layer (unless one of a very few used in extreme excess and even then it is very unlikely) That would take a transdermal product which would be on prescription. It is a very complex area. In individual cases and medications even pharmacists would reach for the reference books That is why it is best to wait and see what the lab says and take it from there
  17. Obviously not. That’s fine though, if you don’t want to take a piece of friendly advice that’s fine, your decision . It might be prudent to check your proof is fail safe just in case
  18. You do realise that just because it’s an internet forum and you are using a Nick name, it doesn’t mean you can’t be sued for slander? I can’t comment on the actual test speedway does trackside as these tests differ but from my pharmacy experience for those thinking ‘oh a list is issued of banned substances’ it’s not really as simple as that. Medication can have things in it that you don’t expect - that’s how Alain Baxter lost his Olympics medal, he took a sniff of Vicks. some assume OTC meds are ok but that’s not the case - many common meds such as hay fever relief tablets can’t be used as it would make you fail the drug test. All that is before taking into account that two medications taken together can heighten the strength and effect of a drug - that’s why people used to take the OTC Co codamol with full strength Coca Cola. It is a minefield and from the basic information we have then it is probably best to wait for the lab results and comments before judging an individual. Even then though Bandits Fan, it’s wise not to open yourself up to slander accusations with random accusations Just my opinions obviously
  19. so you will just make others guess potentially worse by a 'I know something you dont know and Im not telling you' post?
  20. It’s not a route I am familiar with tbh, I could easily have misheard. 3 and a half hours though is definitely a lot longer than you would expect tho!
  21. Took my friend 3 and a half hours to get from Greenock to her dads in Falkirk because of the flooding, weather and road closures. Usually takes 45 minutes. Track staff will have their work cut out to get the track ready for tomorrow night I reckon, no way it would be rideable today. for whoever it was coming up anyway, it’s the tattie howkin holiday up here this week so places should be open ok. Might be full of kids tho
  22. Cold? Its currently 14 degrees just outside Stirling - thats still T shirt weather (all be it wet t-shirt lol)
  23. The NHS say could work for speedway. Building houses on even part of the site will put considerable extra strain on NHS facilities for the entire area. I assume (happy to be proven wrong) that the areas NHS facilities are currently stretched pretty much to breaking point as it is and would need significant investment to cope.
  24. I’m not a fan of his but I genuinely feel that Fricke has been hard done by.
