I believe its because HE chose to take the risk and drink too much the night before a Grand Prix resulting in him recording an alcohol level above that permitted by the regulatory body. Do I win a prize?

A look at the most recent newsletter sent out and the latest entry on the official website proves the point: http://www.glasgowtigers.co/?p=3766 Could you have done any/all of the things mentioned before? Yip if you knew how and who to ask I'm sure you probably could have. But just look at the positive exciting way they are now marketing it - its night and day I take what I think may be your point that there are still one or two involved whose people skills are frankly almost non existent but they must obviously offer something else to the club. the change in marketing strategy so far however imo is night and day
-
you probably know better than I on that matter cyclone but it has been said to me that Allied's marketing people are getting involved and I base my comments on that. Makes sense really that if you are going to plough a lot of money into something you make sure your best marketing people have an input

Personally I think there is a big difference between a rider who has attained an actual average and retained similar for a few seasons suddenly lobbing 2 points off it compared to an assessed average rider attaining a true average after the required number of meetings. Im not saying either situation is right or wrong, just that they are not comparable as one has only 'dropped' because of assessment rules, not because he suddenly rode differently or failed to attain previous scoring trends, whilst the others dropped due to a massive nosedive in scoring

nail, head. hit. on the apparently there are great marketting moves afoot. sadly there was never any real replacement for Parks and all the work at promoting the Tigers he did off track. While riders of his calibre only come along every now and then it sounds as if the promotional side will not be allowed to be neglected in the same way which can only be good for the Tigers

^^^^^^ what he said Shads is dealing with fact as do the visa requirements. Opinions dont come into it. we all like to think our chosen 'favourites' are the next Stevie Lawson/Carl stonehewer/Shane Parker. 99.9% of the time we are wrong. thats why average figures are used as a guide and not what we think they could do with Greg Hancocks machinery! Averages are a far more accurate guide of how decent a rider is than saying 'but in this race he did well' So what? Its ALL races that count and averages are the best indicator there is of that

Your not alone phillipsr and obviously we are not getting to know either. OED has it as a crustacean so ti cant through any light on the subject either but hey your age is more important than giving an answer to one of the few civil quesitions asked on here
-
so if he is only 'slightly' better then Shads point is valid as he has not achieved the required 7 point average

What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.
Lioness replied to doners1234's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Its not the VISA laws being tightened up - as I posted on the Workington thread I came across this in a different area in 2001 and have often queried how riders were able to come to the UK in the way they did. Whats happened is that the authorities have finally clamped down on British Speedway for not complying with the regulations in the way they should have been. this is not all about having a go at speedway which is all some seem to want to see. perhaps the authorites have to share some of the blame for not noticing the breaches in speedway earlier - although Mr harkess conceded that it was brought to clubs attentions last season - but see the wider picture. Why should speedway riders be treated differently from any Australian in another occupation when it comes to getting a work visa for the UK? -
Err...how has Steve completely missed the point when all he has done is reply referring to the players YOU put up as an example? You named 3 Brazilians and an Argentinian, not Steve! Last time I looked neither Brazil or Argentina were part of the EU! Then you try and claim Sissis shouldnt be able to claim his Greek heritage - why not? Did you complain when Mark Loram rode for GB? He is claiming something he is entitled to claim. Its NOTHING to do with stopping Australian speedway riders or any other Commonwealth sportsmen. The legislation has also been in place for MANY years - the fact that British speedway blatently flouted the rules does NOT mean they can carry on doing so once they are caught out. the fact some are only complaining about it now because it is affecting speedway is not justification

Football is and always has been very much subject to work permit regulations. Back in 2001 I was helping on working on the permit applications for two young T&T players Colin Samuel and Devon Mitchell. The rules were very strictly adhered to and it took us two years to get Colin Samuels a work permit for Falkirk - after he had made 6 international appearances and scoring a handful of goals. Devon I seem to recall had a couple of caps but against 'minor' opposition and we never ever got a permit for him as he didnt have enough international caps to show that he would bring something extra to the game in the UK. I think Dundee Utd tried a couple of years later for Devon but again it was rejected. incidentally when Colin Samuel moved from one club to another the new club had to get a fresh work permit for him! So its definitely not anything particularly new! So there you go - its definitely something that has been happening in sport for a long time and its definitely not something football is exempt from or set up just to have a go at speedway (As an aside, i took both lads to the speedway at Glasgow when they were over on a visitors visa - they didnt like it lol)

Its frightening how many people actually seem to believe, despite everything thats been documented and said, that its all a ploy to have a go at speedway

...and I said almost exactly the same a few pages back (minus the grammer school bit lol) Tbh Grachan I doubt if some will listen to you either! lol -
apparently though screm the criteria is finishing 2014 with an average above 7. Not sure if they will apply for a previous year except in exceptional circumstances and even then given the hassles this season Im not convinced the authorities will want to do anything other than stick to the letter of the law - and indeed why should they? They will argue, understandably, Kozza should have ridden and finished top four in a state championship. It's unfortunate that with all the issues known as long ago as September that no one tipped him the nod on that but IF the authorities say 'no' we dont really have a leg to stand on
-
I would assume that as its the rolling averages that are used for team building its the rolling averages that will count for visa requirements - does anyone know?
-
Has he been reported SL? I didnt know that but frankly he should have been pulled up for it. the riders were warned about watching their conduct on social media and that anything that was felt to damage speedways repoutation would be acted on - surely that applies to team managers as well. I knew the comment had been made, I saw it at the time, but I didnt realise that he had then retweeted it himself. That says volumes to me. As does the fact he later posted that to call someone that was 'banter' and seems to confirm by that tweet that he finds it acceptable for someone in his position
-
Harness has already admitted that the clubs were visited before the end of last season and knew around September there would be issues and visas would all be revisited. Septembert was before the end of last season. Ergo that's how they would have known.

actually being a pedant although you are right in saying it should be 'a' holiday you are wrong in your reasoning as the use of the word 'an' is supposed to be before a vowel SOUND, not just the vowel. see! I seem to remember a young Aussie getting disciplined and a ban for a lot less on social media....... do the rules not also apply to management and promoters? Won't help Poole much if they are also missing their TM next season!
-
Isn't that what started the whole flamin saga?

Well thats surely Mr Holder gone down in a number of people's estimation. he seems to be saying its okay to race at those speeds when not considered 100% fit by the rules to do so as long as you are his mate? Shame on you Chris Holder, the same rules should apply to all.
