That's a result that will worry the rest of the league. To go to Belle Vue and win by 10 without either Doyle or Sayfutdinov at their best is a huge statement. Pretty clear that if this side stays fit and available that they'll cruise to the title, I'd be surprised if they lose more than a handful of meetings. Fair play to their management for putting it together.6 points

So students get in for £12.00 but no concessions for pensioners , Were these prices worked out by Rachael Reeves by any chance???..5 points

Too much of Danny’s ippo career the expectations on him have been higher than his level, he’s never been a proper 1 or 5 in the top league but he’s had to be that and then overly criticised when come up short - now he’s not got the burden of those unrealistic expectations should go along quite nicely this season. Hawkins made a good point with king riding at 2 the majority of his rides come earlier in the meeting on a grippier track which will suit him also Great start last night for him and the team 😃4 points

Adams comments about bike set ups, I am no mechanic but just how much of a set up does it need for almost every rider to consistently miss the gate over 15 Heats ?, we are talking professional speedway riders here not some 16 year old just starting out, we know Perry Barr is a gaters track so they need to sort it out for the next home meeting, next Monday would have been ideal to have held the Alan Grahame meeting either as an individual meeting or a team meeting to get some much needed competitive practice in, but what do we have? we have a National Development meeting, someone at Brum needs to get the priorities right.3 points

Everybody knows why you won it last year. You’ll need to jump on someone else’s poor luck again this time otherwise you won’t stand a cat in hells chance.3 points

First team meeting for me since Leicester Vs Sheffield in late August 2023, and of course first time back at KL since June 2023. Different perspective standing on turn 4 for the first time. The track was just how the Lynn boys would’ve wanted it, smooth, consistent and the starts ripped. I would like to see a bit more dirt on the track and maybe scratch the outside line to give a bit more grip but Bomber certainly found the pace. His style suits Lynn so well by letting the bike run deep into the corner and turning it hard and getting his wheels in line quicker than anyone else - such a difficult skill. I only wish I could’ve got him over the line when I was there! You can only beat what’s in front of you and I fully expect Lynn to go through after Thursday, but it was great to see them start with a strong win. As so many have said, much bigger tests to come but I really look like the look of this side, I pray it’s finally Lynns year for some silverware, although I fear our ‘friends’ in Suffolk will have a lot to say about that. Final point - Good to see a solid crowd. Whilst the racing wasn’t the best (Bomber aside) winning will keep these crowds going - let’s hope for more of the same next Monday against Belle Vue - reserves will be difference again in that one I hope.2 points

But this year, under the new semi final draw system... They will be pretty much guaranteed to face Ipswich in the semi....😀 So will get a massive crowd...😜2 points

Since it opened in 2016 you’ve lost three opening meetings at home and won 5 including last year against Sheffield. That isn’t doing what you “do most” is it?2 points

This could be the one I make a return to the terraces for one night only.2 points

Bloody brilliant! When our top 2 wasn't even firing at full tilt and we can win by 10 away at BV. OUTSTANDING King gets a lot of criticism by me more than most but last night he set the tone for his season. Of course he will have off matches but at 2 if he can get 6+ most matches we will have a very good season. Thompson just kicking on again!! Leicester must be fuming they've let him go2 points

So pleased for Danny King, he gets so much undeserved flak on here but proved the doubters wrong yet again.2 points

They could easily work around Poland. For example the Polish final is held over 3 rounds, I'm pretty sure there won't be any Extraliga matches on those 3 Sundays. Could have chosen to hold any of the British Final / British Semi final / Championship riders Championship / Championship Pairs / Premiership riders Championship / England vs Australia test match / Premiership Pairs / Championship Fours. With so many clubs having so few fixtures, I can't understand why they don't hold more of these "shared events" - well I do, it's about money. But I can remember when there were packed crowds at Coventry / Peterborough / Somerset for the British Final / Fours / Pairs, seems such a shame that this is no longer the case.2 points

Track was way to slick for any real racing but and it’s a big but Birmingham were left at the tapes in nearly all the races and that was the difference, rew battled hard for his points, musielak was poor except one race, Edward’s started well but faded, zagar never looked like winning a race, voulas battled for minor places, MJJ didnt really look competitive even when placed, jeppersen was competitive and at least got a race win , Birmingham will not be this bad again but they need some home track advantage and I suggest the management start by ripping up the starts like a ploughed field2 points

Only two things can stop Ipswich from cleaning up this year. 1. Injuries and 2. Poland withdrawing Emil's starting permission. Doyley and Emil weren't firing at all tonight and Ipswich still won by 10 which goes to show how strong they are in every department. Best British side assembled since the old Sky Sports Elite League Days imo.2 points

Not as Farcical as running it during the season when half the field are second strings.2 points

https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-guide-belle-vue-h/ Reluctant to say this is a formality because sometimes you can end up looking stupid, but in reality this SHOULD be pretty straightforward to progress to the next round. Zach far far better here than his brother was so Belle Vue will be stronger here this year so expecting a decent contest. Always good watching Kurtz around Foxhall, really fast here.1 point

Kurtz, err last season strong all the way through and dominant in winning the play offs and qualifying for GP. Zischke is complete opposite of Wiltshire and it’s his gating that usually lets him down. Got to remember he coming back from an horrific injury last year, a lot of details been kept quiet. And although he says he forgotten about it now, I think surely it will still be in the back of his mind as doesn’t look as aggressive as last year but I think after few meetings the confidence will come back hopefully.1 point

It remains to be seen how he will fare over the season but I am not a Lewis Kerr fan and would rather have had Dan T who is an improving rider.1 point

The time to judge King's Lynn will be against the stronger sides in the league, Almost everyone should be taking Oxford to the cleaners this season.1 point

Quick wasn’t he? The fact he wasn’t well either made it even more impressive. Enjoyed that battle with Cook in heat 14. Got done by Cook, never gave in blasted back in the blink of an eye. Good to see. Seems to have been around a little while now but unbelievably still only 20! Leicester dropped one almighty bollock there I’m afraid. Ipswich just far too good and that’s the reality. Belle Vue and Sheffield are their biggest challengers but Sheffield will run in to the same problems. Sheffield’s top four more than a match for Ipswich, but the bottom end of the team isn’t. Ipswich have strength all the way through.1 point

Some managers are more ruthless than others. Someone like Middlo would replace a rider when 20 points up, because he wants to win by 22 points. Ruthless maybe but he gets the results.1 point

Bang on. But you'd imagine that Lyon has already thought of that what with him being so highly thought of by Lynn fans.1 point
-
For Lynn to have a successful season, then they need to be prepared to drop Boughen from races when he's done no wrong. While it may seem harsh, no point in having a powerhouse reserve if he doesn't get extra rides. So far the TM got it spot on. If the aggregate points are already won or lost before heat 14s, give Boughen his 4th ride then.1 point

Disappointed for Birmingham, not a shock to lose, but thought they'd have scored a bit more. I don't know what it is, but it seems like riders lose form as soon as they put a Brummies race suit on, I almost feel like Zmarzlik wouldn't be the world Champ if he had a big red B on his kevlars (which is ridiculous I know). Almost feel like the reverse of Poole, riders go there & have their best seasons, but go to Birmingham & the opposite happens.1 point

I didn't rate Belle Vue as highly as some, but still expected them to be better at home. If Ipswich can win at Belle Vue, they can win anywhere.1 point

Based on Peter Schroeck's pre season comments, he seems to think Riss is a number 1 or 5! OXFORD boss Peter Schroeck believes that Erik Riss can be a huge star “once he realises how good he is”. “He’s a top rider and in the right environment we get the most out of him, as he showed last year. “Once Erik realises how good he is, he will be even better. We are very lucky to have him back on board and I am obviously delighted.” I know managers have to talk up their team, but if they really believe they have a strong side, could be in for a rude awakening.1 point

Think that’s what you call laying down a marker.. It’s a good feeling looking at every heat and thinking at worst you can get a drawn heat. So much strength in depth in this team. Much more to come from the top two as well so it shows the strength of the team when they have off nights and still win comfortably. Lovely to see Danny fit and happy! The two boys at reserve also very good.1 point

Now that's a huge monkey off the teams back. An away win at Belle Vue1 point

Don’t know why the brummies wouldn’t have had someone like Sedgmen at reserve instead of Vuolas. Similar average and would fancy sedgy to score 8/9 a meeting from there. I know that’s the least of their issues.1 point

I was happy with that. I know the rain was not ideal but the races kept coming & the quick thinking to adjust the schedule kept the flow. It was all finished by 8:15 a very efficient meeting. Credit to all involved on & off the track. Lets hope the SRBF got of to a solid start for the season.1 point

7 riders riding for Clubs they haven’t ridden for this season.!!1 point

Credit where credit is due. This was a pretty decent meeting in miserable weather conditions, the track held up well. The meeting presentation was first class, with some great touches. The crowd size was, in comparison to other league meetings I’ve been to in the last couple of years, enormous. Well done to everyone at Oxford.1 point

Why? Starting the season with two high-profile matches with the best riders, who are actually going to be there rather than being injured or not being bothered. Typical speedway fans though, lose their minds when there's change or they don't like something!1 point

But people complained about riders pulling out of the rider championship last season and were up in arms! No wonder British speedway can’t win, people just love a good twine.1 point

Over the years the powers that be have made some weird decisions but this one tops the lot ! Holding a major riders championship before many clubs will have even started their season Words fail me1 point
