Credit where credit is due. This was a pretty decent meeting in miserable weather conditions, the track held up well. The meeting presentation was first class, with some great touches. The crowd size was, in comparison to other league meetings I’ve been to in the last couple of years, enormous. Well done to everyone at Oxford.8 points

I see Birmingham's secret weapon has just turned up! (Not so much a secret, but he's certainly a weapon)4 points

Going into the city after Belle Vue is totally different to Cardiff. Before and after the GP at Cardiff everywhere was surrounded by speedway supporters, you knew where a lot of friends and groups would be, with Manchester there won't be any 'set places' like Walkabout where it would get taken over on the Friday and Saturday nights, a lot of people won't even bother going into the city after BV, and those that do will be so spread out it will be totally diluted and not feel like there's a big event on. Cardiff was the closest we had to a Polish GP around the city, but BV has the track. Wroclaw and Warsaw you KNOW there's something going on with speedway, in Manchester you won't4 points

I will continue to use the one stop shopping centre when I go. Others have shared info about parking terms and opening times to park. i get the ‘official’ parking time only allows until 8pm which should rule out parking for the speedway. however if a 4 hour parking is allowed ( as stated on the signs) then what is to stop anyone going to the Asda at 6 or 7 (to get an official receipt) and parking till end of the match? As others have pointed out KFC is open after 8pm and the Gym is 24 hrs so people WILL park there officially after 8pm. Personally I see no issue with parking at 6.30 or 7pm, shop for a receipt and then use the 4 hr free parking line if challenged. i get that the club can’t and won’t promote the one stop as a parking place but as a customer (which you would be if you use the centre to purchase for a receipt) and more so if you get a KFC on the home after the match I can’t see how you would get a parking ticket that would be enforced.3 points

Never understood this 15/23 mins thing. I enjoy the rider interviews parade, warm up/warm down laps, fireworks, Chase the Ace and other fan engagement during the meeting plus the post match press conference when you get to meet and chat with the riders. Guess I’m lucky with that frame of mind as I get more bang for my buck.3 points

Yes, The way to get around it is by refreshing the page about 5 seconds after you click the submit reply. It happend to me where it would take 20-30 seconds for it to work automatically so I refreshed the page once and it worked straight away so I've continued to do the same since.2 points

Really good all round team performance from Ipswich tonight. Danny King and Dan Thompson were brilliant from start to finish.2 points

Think that’s what you call laying down a marker.. It’s a good feeling looking at every heat and thinking at worst you can get a drawn heat. So much strength in depth in this team. Much more to come from the top two as well so it shows the strength of the team when they have off nights and still win comfortably. Lovely to see Danny fit and happy! The two boys at reserve also very good.2 points

Delighted for King, especially after reading so many comments from the doubters all winter (mostly Ipswich fans it appeared).2 points

They need to get it on there pronto to help with ticket sales. 🤣 We’ll have to agree to disagree on what’s “probably best”.2 points

Yes. And if you click refresh it ends up posting duplicates. That along with the ads is an absolute pain in the ar*e. Is it really essential to have so many adverts? Good win for Ipswich, even more impressive when you factor in that their top 2 were both off form.1 point

No, so surprised why he been getting so much hype as a signing, he been on a downward trend for quite a few years and after a year off it was always a risk.1 point

Emil started slowly last year too but he’ll get it together soon enough no danger. He was his dominant self from mid season onwards so not concerned by a slow start.1 point

Only two things can stop Ipswich from cleaning up this year. 1. Injuries and 2. Poland withdrawing Emil's starting permission. Doyley and Emil weren't firing at all tonight and Ipswich still won by 10 which goes to show how strong they are in every department. Best British side assembled since the old Sky Sports Elite League Days imo.1 point

Don't worry, there's plenty of time to weaken the team lol! But seriously, successful season's aren't decided after ONE away match.1 point

MJJ is struggling. There must be something wrong with the track. Michael is used to riding on a smooth track. His smooth riding style suits well prepared tracks.1 point

I think Rew holds the key tonight, if he hits the ground running could be the difference maker in a close meeting1 point

i go to Warsaw for 5 nights, airbnb and a whole apartment to myself, and i got in relatively early for flights so much better price than they're at now, and it'll still probably be cheaper than the weekend in Manchester when you factor in all the other things like fuel, parking, socialising. I do a lot of socialising in Warsaw but still much cheaper, and ok i get a lift to Heathrow so no airport parking etc, but this country has a habit of just overcharging on everything1 point

Then you should be able to pay a tenner (minimum) for parking and not forgetting to check for the ulez zone.1 point

I must say the parking "issue" really does make me think twice about going to Birmingham, I only went the once last year and had to pay £3 for the privilege of parking on the gypo car park. The One Stop was a perfect solution for me and most others in previous years, so it's a shame that the promotion couldn't come to some arrangement with them as it seems that some say that this is possibly still usable. Like I said in an earlier post I nearly parked on-street last time I went but saw a load of signs on lamp posts that I didn't recognise that looked like they could be parking restrictions so didn't chance it. PS. Incidentally I'm going to Villa Park in June to see GnR, I've never been before so any advice on parking for that would be greatly appreciated, I would call Axl but he may put the phone down laughing 😉😂1 point

The difference being is that Villa average around 42000 (I think?) And bham speedway approx 500.... say no more!1 point

I suspect that a lot of speedway fans are approaching the age where they start to consider their bucket list. I am personally, & this event is on mine. To be worrying about bus times to the stadium is a bit of a mystery to me. We will order a taxi to the stadium, & get one after the meeting to the city centre.1 point
-
Why? Starting the season with two high-profile matches with the best riders, who are actually going to be there rather than being injured or not being bothered. Typical speedway fans though, lose their minds when there's change or they don't like something!1 point

Same here tbh, personally feel it appears much more of a professional team having a team suit Can’t say I find it difficult really, so long as you know who’s in red/blue on your team etc in each race its easy enough to follow1 point

Make of this sign what you will, but to me it looks like you get 4 hours of free parking and that restrictions end after 8pm. In other words, as long as you arrive after 4pm, what's the problem? Yes, there are gates on the car park, and no they are never used. Anyone who'd been for a late-night KFC will be able to testify to that. Nandos is another place open to 10pm. The Gym at One Stop is open through the night from 8pm to 12am. So the car park has to stay open to allow for customers to access these businesses. Still, there's no commercial link-up any more so it won't be promoted. Cut off noses and spited faces spring to mind.1 point

Waste of money. Riders have their own sponsors on them, I get that, but it's now a club/sponsor expense rather than the riders' responsibility. Much prefer a race jacket and suits which show the individuality of the riders.1 point

Speaking for self, I much prefer physical copies of magazines as I spend most of my working day staring into monitors, online stuff is great when it works. When it works. The Star is a great, tho not perfect magazine, there is more foreign news by necessity as with quite a few clubs sadly closed in the UK it follows there is less UK news to report. The biggest problem area with Speedway Star is the distribution which can be pretty random, after weeks of being on time so far in 2025 my copy has been late the last 3 weeks, regular post arrived, still not received this week's 13 March issue, tho was on sale in Asda....1 point

We are notoriously bad starting season. Especially the first matches of the season. so could easily be an Ipswich win in both legs. but we must start the season well at some point. Hopefully this year is it1 point
