Playing devils advocate, it probably would have cost me more like £115 all in with fuel, tickets, food etc and getting home in the early hours so £15 don’t seem too bad.5 points

Thats why this sport is knackered. 15 quid to watch a stream. Bonkers.4 points

Ok, so my journey time was quicker than expected, Yes, I got a program, Yes, I got to stand where I wanted too Yes I appreciate it was a good day for NKI. No, I did not appreciate the 30 minute delay to the start of the meeting due folk turning up late No I did not appreciate the lack of admission facilities which caused the long queues. The point promoters should recognise and act on, is that customers (sporting event or supermarket) do not like unreasonable length of queues to get in or pay for the prodct...Example, last week, went to premier league football match circa 50,000 attendance. Arrived at stadium gate 30 minutes prior to kick off, qued for less than five minutes to gain admission using pre purchased ticket, had a beer, a pie, took my seat 5 minutes before kick off...and guess what, the match started on time!. Surely, speedway can have some willingness to provide a quality product, start to finish instead of relying on the willingness of supporters to accept a poor offering. Which judging by the fall off in spectators over the past decade is the outcome of poor promotion is fast coming home to roost.4 points

I went to the doctors last week at 2pm. My appointment was 4pm. Bloody Doctor.. I didn't get out until 4.15.. Terrible service.4 points

was gonna say the same if being there a long time is an issue then why arrive at a meeting with 21 races 90 mins before the advertised start time they perhaps could have offered online tickets in advance to ease the queues but there were probably around 3k people there and that ought to be celebrated rather than moaned about imo4 points

Very surprised to read this. Over the years, travelling from Wolves, I cosidered King's Lynn League matches always started promptly at some time between 7:55pm - 8:15pm. It was just the Programme showing 7:30pm that was incorrect. 😃3 points

Are the two applications linked? If not the council need to be asked to place a planning condition/section 106 obligation which explicitly requires the Studley Grange project to be delivered first/begin commencement prior to works on the Abbey. In order for this to be accepted by the council it must be proven (ideally with help from a planning consultant) that this condition complies with the NPPF and reasonable, to scale and necessary.3 points

Exactly. They have been on TV, radio, newspapers and social media in the last few days. Any forward thinking promotion would have booked a place on Voyager's gold disc and advertised to the greater universe but not this lot. I’m so angry!!2 points

Developers will have town planners on the case who know how to manipulate the system and use it to make their case to their own advantage. Although it's common sense in your and my eyes- the need for housing development is a big pull so unless we have a strong planning case built by a town planner stating how it goes against the NPPF/leisure facilities we really are at a disadvantage.2 points

Absolute common sense to anyone with an ounce of brain power, but it does require the kind of joined up thinking that those in power and planning seem all too short of. Clarke Osbourne has already put enough infrastructure into Abbey stadium in order to comply with the letter of the law and allow house building, although no Speedway has taken place. The new planning should insist the new circuit is completed and has one full season of league racing before any development of the Abbey Stadium commences. Although this might seem sensible, we are talking about councillors ?2 points

Don’t think so. Bought my ticket at 1pm before gates opened. Then sat in my car, listened to radio, keeping warm, ate my lunch and then waltzed into stadium with no delays. As has been said, they did 21 heats in a little over 2 hrs once racing started. Races flowed quickly in blocks of four. No complaints from me about delayed start, it’s a testimonial after all. As has been said by another,I welcome a bit of tractors so I could catch up with people I only se e at speedway. Great day for Puk. So pleased for him. Also good to see a 4TT again.2 points

Have to agree regarding Jason. The rotator cuff injury is a serious injury, and in Jason's case it is the 2nd time he has suffered this injury. Ad the fact that he is now 39 makes his return back riding so well is even more impressive.2 points

Surprised,I watched it all last season with very little problems regarding streaming.Always been able to watch the meetings the day after or any other time throughout the year.1 point

Gate 4 is shocking. Never seen such a bad gate. Every rider off 4 is at least 3 or 4 metres behind going into the first bend.1 point

The promotion obviously thought of the paying fans in this case by delaying the start for everyone getting in.Nobody anticipated the crowd being as big as it was did they?If they did I would go as far as to say they were a liar.1 point

I don't know if they do have separate queues for card/cash payments. But surely that's the way to do it. I've been in so many queues at Speedway where people get to the front of the queue then fanny about trying to cobble together part of the entrance fee in small change. It's not like they don't advertise how much entry is.1 point

Sorry. I should have said "the lack of sufficient admission facilities" Four being insufficient hence the 30 minute delay of the start to get folk in. However, credit where credit is due. Four is far more sufficient than the two at Leicester. And to close - it was great that NKI got such a great and well deserved turnout for his testimonial.1 point

You have to be careful these days. After all you wouldn't want cash going missing from the back office or the gate hinges stolen! Would you? 🤔1 point

Back in the early millennium we were fortunate to have so many if not ALL of the world’s best. Every team had a star or maybe two around that period. Leigh always struck me as the consummate professional . His ultra smooth racing style, would team ride and just ultra professional both on and off track. Not forgetting his ability to hit 9-10 points every season for over a decade in three different nations simultaneously is really quite something in my opinion. Conversely Tomasz Gollob while fantastic for Bydgoszsz on the Sunday looked a different rider 2 days later for Vastervik. Adored in Poland by Unia Leszno - again for his unrivalled consistency and professionalism .1 point

once the racing began the 21 heats were completed in a touch over two hours which i think is about right personally i use the breaks between races to socialise with people i havent seen all winter rather than worry about what tractors are or arent doing but each to their own1 point

And yet the man who won hasn’t done a lap in anger for 8 weeks short of a full calendar year. And at the very same place where he had his horrific accident. The man is phenomenal.1 point

I personally wouldn't read too much into a lot of the performances today, there looked to be a lot of rustiness on show which is to be expected. Doyle was excellent along with the other two GP boys and it'll be interesting to see how they all get on tomorrow evening.1 point

Let’s get one thing straight. The FIM supply the officials and make the rules. WBD are the right’s holders- in other words it is their gig. They then sell the individual GP’s to the tracks or Federation as is the case of the PZM and the Warsaw GP. Those tracks then sell the tickets at a price they set- and hope to make a profit doing so. Anything you say different to the above is just plain cr@p !!1 point

Then in the first official meeting we all moan if a rider looks rusty or has mechanical issues.1 point

Regardless of it being a Testimonial, there's some good riders on show...you could just pretend it's the Teromaa Shield Event....or the Ray Wilson Classic 😀1 point

Hope Puk has a brilliant day. Well deserved. Wont forget the winter when Tim Stone signed him as third heatleader on a 9.00 average. I remember he had won the Danish u21 final ahead of Bjerre the year before and just had that feeling he would be an instant success at Newport. Must of been one of the only ones as most predicted he would do well to average 5. He went on to average over his 9.00 assessed figure in his only year in the Premier and was superb everywhere he went. I went to many away meetings that season and don't think I seen him have a bad one on tracks he was visiting for the first time. An extremely good guy, always turned out well and gave nothing less than 100 percent. I think injuries knocked him back a bit, he started to make big strides in the GP's and topped the Polish and British averages for a few seasons before going on a run of nasty crashes. Had he avoided them with the form he was in, its not unreasonable to think he would of picked up more GP wins and podiums. His partnership at Newport with Tony Atkin will go down as probably the most popular partnership at Newport after Wato and Smarty. Hope he has a big crowd and good weather.1 point

Is there is a loophole in the planning laws ?if you have a piece of land like a field and you want planning permission to build houses or industrial buildings on that land and no matter how much you try you can’t get permission to do so because it’s green belt but they will give you permission to build a sport track/facility on it so you build that facility and use it for a few years and then deem it not financially viable so shut it down and then reapply for planning saying it’s now not green belt land anymore as it has a sport facility on it, this would make sense to what happened at Somerset1 point

Slight change of track but I went to Somerset on Friday and went on to the oak tree arena site, they have a greggs, McDonald’s, screwfix and ford to the right as you drive in off the main road now and the old bar on the first bend is an energy company’s office now but they havent touched where the track was,you can still see the outline on google earth, so why couldn’t they have kept the speedway there ?1 point
