If your "head" isn't on the job in hand, then stepping away from speedway is a sensible thing to do, IMO. Last thing you want is to be "elsewhere" in your head when on a speedway track with 3 others doing speeds of up to 60mph.3 points

Said it before, Clarke Osbourne is a business man and he does what business men do, if speedway got its act together and actually turned round some sort of profit Clarke Osbourne would be on our side, you may not like his methods and he certainly knows how to manipulate councils etc for his own gain but he is a business man and his priorities are to make money, he doesn’t break the law, too many fans have faith in councils, they are just as deceitful as Osbourne but ultimately the sport itself has to take the blame for the state that it’s currently in3 points

We do! Use the one on my phone but having a physical one on display in the kitchen with columns for all four family members for their stuff is a great tool for not forgetting stuff. Plus a pouch at the bottom for letters etc!2 points

Also helped that a couple of senior Sky sports executives in late 90s tlll early 2000s used to go Speedway on a regular basis. Once they moved on it meant Speedway did not have the internal support that it used to have2 points

With respect I think it’s a little naive to believe that Tr a man with 40 years of experience with the likes of Osborne, has been conned by anyone especially him.He is merely fulfilling the terms of his exit deal with Osborne as a spokesperson for Swindon Motorsports to ensure that his ultimate aim is achieved.1 point

I mean it's got 365 boxes to write things in divided by twelve pages so I reckon a calendar it is 😁1 point

A good run out for Flint yesterday in the GB team scoring 8+1. I do think he will one of our key riders next season. We know the top 4 are our strength as it was last season. Are we better or worse off than last year? Howarth, Gilkes, Edwards v Rowe, Hume and Flint. We know Kyle can put in big scores round owlerton but was very poor away im hoping Rowe can balance that out riding at 2. Hume for me is poor I would have preferred Dan Gilkes back but he is a tryer so will give him a chance. Flint can put in a performance in the prem and then next meeting be absolutely nowhere. Need him to step it up this year and be the stand out RS in the league if we are to win any silverware1 point

I've never believed anything other than Speedway being an airtime filler particularly when Sky went big on live sport. In the summertime Sky had one hell of a lot of live airtime to fill so this sport was ideal. They made a success of it because the audiences were consistent and they didn't scrimp on production costs despite BT having their pants down on the uplink charges. Rain offs became a very expensive irritant particularly when mardi prima donnas refused to ride in not perfect conditions and stadium presentation became a bit of an eyesore (grass growing down the straights at kirky Lane and many tracks not being rrsed to clean the air fences and Sky banners) to the point when the budget was blown on footy it was easy to pay up the Speedway contract and save on production costs. Financially Sky and Speedway were doing each other a favour £1.1m a year to fill all that airtime was cost effective for Sky and for Speedway £1.1m a year was manna from heaven and some promotions couldn't even clean the Sky banners.1 point

I think Ben Trigger is being underestimated by many, he may be a slow improver, but he has increased his average every season. 2021 NL (3.77) 2022 NL (6.00) 2023 NL (6.34) Champ (2.13) 2024 NL (8.71) Champ (3.08) There's no reason for me to believe he wouldn't increase it again, especially at Plymouth. If the team had 3.00 remaining, I'd say he's a great signing, but with just under 4 remaining, you want to look for someone stronger, although I'm not totally convinced anyone named would be better. Jack Smith on other tracks - yes. At Plymouth - definitely not. Connor Coles is of a similar ability, he may average 0.1 more than Trigger, but if you consider travel expenses is that worth it? Stefan Nielsen - is perhaps the one with the biggest chance of averaging over 4, purely because he's done that before. Ben Morley - think he'd have to give up his NT spot to ride Champ, so probably less likely. Trigger actually has an average higher than 7 reserves signed in the Champ this year. Shame that how the points limit works, riders who can't reach the minimum 2.00 get more chances than riders around 3.00!1 point

Clarke Osborne was a Director of a company that acquired the old ground of Bristol Rovers, Eastville. The club were evicted and Osborne made a sizeable profit from the sale of the stadium for development. He then bought Torquay Unitd and put a lot of effort into persuading the local council into selling him Plainmoor. You can make a good guess as to what would have happened next. The Council have not played ball so it looks like Osbourne has given up. As Torbay Council own the ground a phoenix club maybe possible but they may just sell it for housing if Torquay go bust. Grim times to be a Torquay fan especially as they looked nailed on to return to the League a few years ago. However, Osborne was loading debt on to the club and losing over a million a season in the process. The gamble failed and they have been heading for bankruptcy ever since. Such a lovely man!0 points
