Love a Bank Holiday afternoon meeting. Don’t always produce the best of racing strip particularly in the summer but the extra numbers and atmosphere make it a great occasion. Looking forward to the East Anglian derby on May bank Holiday. Lynn having a more competitive side this year will add to the interest. Will be a bumper Foxhall crowd that’s for sure.4 points

Maybe a 25 year old can travel to 12 meetings under his own steam rather than a 16year old having to rely on family members who may not be geared up for midweek commitments? Just a thought.......3 points

Listening to the talk speedway podcast with Peter Facenna. Freddie working for the Glasgow owners (probably a good reason for him to go to Glasgow). Interesting listen. Need to listen to more of these as good content.2 points

I don't think Poole have any interest in doing that, they will look to whoever gives them the best chance of winning trophies. They only hosted a NDL individual because they were forced to & are promoting a new 2.00 rider in July - not to assist British Speedway, but to win the league. As long as they run the club as a business not a hobby (can't blame them for that) don't see this philosophy changing.2 points

I think the Birmingham promotion should be commended for their efforts to build a competitive team which I think they have. Obviously the team is probably quite expensive to put together and deserve to be supported and not written off before a wheel has turned.2 points

To be honest, i don't know. But it looks like he wont be short of equipment if he is just doing the UK.1 point

Odd Fossengen and Edgar Stangeland spring to mind. Odd rode from 1968 -1974 at Poole whilst Ed rode for a number of clubs throughout the 70's.1 point

We've had on course betting at Oxford Speedway (at the Championship Pairs). Don't think it wax a great sucess as they don't seem to have returned. I think the betting industry's problem with Speedway is they don't like events that can be easily fixed.1 point

I know some will but its difficult to disagree with your thinking steve hols, would think though its difficult nay near impossible for a lad still in full time education who can't drive to compete in the championship, but like you say it would have been good to give a British youngster a go or maybe a couple sharing the gig1 point

Speedway has dabbled with betting companies in the past and nothing has ever really come from it, which is a shame as it looks to be a huge untapped cash cow 🐄 for the sport and are effectively the modern day equivalent to tobacco companies, you only have to look at most other sports who have obscure betting companies plastered all over their clothing etc. Victor Chandler used to sponsor Coventry, I'm pretty sure there was some on course betting at a few tracks back in the noughties and Bet365 showed meetings (similar to dog meetings) for a while. Not sure why it didn't work as you'd think it would be a humane alternative to the doggies 🐕 Good for Oxford though 🎰1 point

As an ex Eastbourne supporter... the seasons I enjoyed the most were either when we were challenging for a trophy... and there were a few of those seasons... or we were battling to avoid the wooden spoon and the rare victories we achieved were much celebrated... and there were probably more of those seasons! I did have a 150 mile round trip to visit Arlington... and the seasons when that became harder to endure were those when it became obvious that we were going to achieve nothing more or less than mid table mediocrity... and so results meant little. But as DaveWayne says... a supporter is a supporter and you should be so during both good and bad times... I'd love to have my track still up and running and be "suffering" those long hours on the road for each meeting...1 point

You’re right there and with a quarter of our home fixtures taking place midday it does put us on the back foot with regards home advantage. We won at the vast majority of away tracks last year with Sheffield being the thorn in our side and the last heat 5-1 v Oxford denying us another away win. Keep up that away form and we can negate our vulnerability at home again.1 point

Yeah, I have to agree. He wasn't doing particularly well when he was banned & let everyone down by refusing to take a drugs & alcohol test. I'm not saying no one should be given a second chance, but in such a dangerous sport, I find it hard to forgive & forget if a rider was risking others by racing under the influence of illegal substances.1 point

I can't believe that Nick Morris is still being linked with Brummies after his conduct and frankly underwhelming form when he did ride for us1 point
