  1. I see this sort of comment on various threads during the 'team building' period and I must admit it confuses me to some degree. I assumed that people who bought season tickets were dedicated fans who follow their team through the good times and the bad. As a football season ticket holder, the 'early bird' period is usually immediately after the previous season ends, which is over a month before the transfer window even opens. Most people buying football season tickets have no idea who many of their players will be for the coming season. If you are a supporter, you are a supporter.

  2. I do think that some of you are being a little unfair. Moaned for weeks about not signing the last two riders and when they do,moan about the 2 riders. Some are just looking for negatives and some just want to try and put the club down at every decision . Come on people, a wheel hasn't turned in anger yet, go to the track in March, see what's on offer and comeback here next October, make a complaint then.

  5. i go pretty much every week but personally i wouldn't consider myself more of a supporter/fan than those who dont its hard work when your team is gash (as lynn have been quite a lot recently)

  6. It's not an awful team, but the fact they'd have to put 2.8 on their averages to even reach the points limit feels like an opportunity lost to really challenge at the top. Can't blame Birmingham if a rider chooses to go, but just imagine Brennan instead of Vuolas.

  7. Assuming the word fan is shorthand for fanatic... I would suggest it does. You're probably more of a follower of Speedway or an occasional attendee than a "fan"

  8. but also if theres a chance you are going to struggle or be cannon fodder why would you commit to going every week doesnt make you any less of a fan if you decide against going to every meeting

  9. There is plenty 0f empty space on the outskirts of newport doing nothing but u have houses nearby so u would have to go into the countryside to escape hassle

  10. It's tough to place Glasgow, they have the strongest top 5 in the league, along with the weakest reserve pairing.

  11. J2ohn give it a rest, Will Cairns has signed an 18 month contract ( or will sign once he's 16 ) to ride for Poole from his 16th birthday in late June, after advice (and a management fee taken ) from Greg Hancock

  12. Is that really any way to build loyalty with the fans though? Especially if it's being reported elsewhere. Silence will probably be the order of the day.

  13. The only way it all comes out will be to go to Judicial Review. Will cost a lot of money though and do the consortium have those funds and commitment to fight this?

  14. I think Birmingham have put a very interesting and cosmopolitan team together and they might just surprise a few people. Hopefully, they can retain all seven riders throughout the full season and they certainly look a much more exciting bunch than last season. Will all the problems Birmingham have recently encountered (finances, crowds, lack of top riders etc), I'd just like to congratulate the management on the team they have ultimately assembled. Good luck and I hope your season is a success!

  18. I read a comment by Nick Mallett somewhere on facebook where he has stated he is ready to reinvest in speedway in Newport if they can find the land and set up a Workington style track. 😶

  19. Now that all teams are basically complete, This is my final table prediction for the Championship. 1. GLASGOW (Will finish top but might not win the league unless a change is made at reserve) 2. REDCAR (Powerful 1-5 with lots of improvement in the team) 3. POOLE (Cairns isn't eligible until 29th June, Hence why I've got Poole down for 3rd) 4. BERWICK (I wasn't expecting them to sign PK, Strong No.1/No.5 with a strong reserve all season) 5. OXFORD (Expect a slow start to the season, Will need Scott to return in full flow) 6. WORKINGTON (Strong at Home but they'll struggle away unless Vuolas & Zischke get dialled in) 7. SCUNTHORPE (Strong at H but they'll struggle A, I don't see average improvers in the team) 8. EDINBURGH (Good signings in Polis & Palovaara but they don't have a strong No.1/No.5 combo) 9. PLYMOUTH (Good signing in Nicolai Klindt but he doesn't have much back up elsewhere) CHAMPIONS (Poole)

  22. Eh? He was a SPEEDWAY rider. Committed s crime and was released on license. Was back riding SPEEDWAY at Scunthorpe in amateur meetings. How is that not relevant to a SPEEDWAY discussion?
