If Sheffield was that bad a track, I'm sure we'd see lots of Sheffield riders sidelined through injury. Like, for example, the end of the '23 season, when Tigers had to field 3 guest riders for the final, with Woofinden, Gilkes, Vissing and Jack Holder on the injury list. Or the '24 season, when Woofinden (again) was an absentee for half the season. The odd thing is, despite riding the Owlerton track week in and week out, NONE of them were injured at Sheffield... they ALL succombed to injuries elsewhere! As I've pointed out before, you have to go back to 2014 to find a Sheffield rider suffering serious injury on the (allegedly) "perilous" Owlerton track. It can't be that bad!5 points

That was the battle. The Peterborough Local Plan stipulated that if AEPG didn't include Peterborough Speedway within their plan for that parcel of land where the stadium sits then they should provide a like for like replacement on the remaining Showground land or at an off-site location. The first proviso was then of course knackered because PCC had already approved planning for the rest of the EoES. AEPG never had any intention of fulfilling any of their responsibilities regarding an on or off-site location for Peterborough Speedway and Peterborough City Council let them get away with it. Mick Bratley laid it out quite clearly at the appeal meeting that the club was only asking for what the Council's own policy stated. PCC then ignored their own local plan and those sporting safeguards that they themselves had incorporated when they moved from their sensible EoES policy LP31 of 2015. They threw Peterborough Speedway under a bus & will no doubt be clearing up the mess over the next decade along with most of their disastrous decisions. This has nothing to do with the Labour Government, it has everything to do with weak, incompetent, self interested, easily influenced councillors who only see Β£ signs & not people and community.4 points

Sad to see. Even though Wolves were invariably beaten there before we even started, it produced some great racing. The epic runoff between Ryan Sullivan and Mikael Karlsson in 96 was an all time classic - probably the best race I've seen live3 points

Just a little post to say wolves fan Tania fellows (tubsy tubs)has passed away last Thursday, she was a massive wolves fan and sponsored quite a few riders from me, Adam skornicki, Adam Ellis, Ryan Douglas, Ashley morris to Kyle howarth and others and was well known around the wolves pits giving the riders haribo sweets before meetings,Tania was a good friend to not only me but a good friend to speedway . Great news for Mildenhall fans and Speedway fans in general. A message to the Mildenhall fans, Steve Ribbons (a Rye House fan through and through) is prepared to get you back on track so go to his meeting and support him however he asks this is your chance to get your team back and as a Rye House fan (and dont forget fans of Coventry, Peterborough, Lakeside, Swindon, Cradley Heath, just to name a few) I know how precious that opportunity is. Good luck in 2025 Mildenhall (I cant believe im saying it but I do mean it) π R.I.P Kelvin and Ted David E3 points

When watching it live I was directly in line with Emil and Jack coming in to bend 3, both threw the bikes in hard. Emil actually had the room to go round Jack (who was about mid track) I think if he had the footrest he would have handled the bike through for the win. It was so high speed which made it a spectacular crash.2 points

Fair enough, thought was more. I think Klindt will be a steady enough signing , just can't see him being a 9-10 pt number one whereas its hard for me to see Zagar averaging less than that in this league. As you say though, Zagar wasn't in the mix so a pointless discussion.1 point

Actually, and being pedantic, nothing is 'confirmed' until the signings have been ratified by BSP Ltd.1 point

Klindt or zagar is completely hypothetical as zagar wasn't available as he has polish commitments, Klindt doesn't. As a Plymouth supporter I would rather have Klindt.1 point

Policy LP30: Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Community Facilities. This policy reads: Existing Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Community Facilities The loss, via redevelopment, of an existing culture, leisure, tourism or community facility will only be permitted if it is demonstrated that: The facility is demonstrably no longer fit for purpose and the site is not viable to be redeveloped for a new community facility; or l. The service provided by the facility is met by alternative provision that exists within reasonable proximity: what is deemed as reasonable proximity will depend on the nature of the facility and its associated catchment area; or m. The proposal includes the provision of a new facility of a similar nature and of a similar or greater size in a suitable on or off-site location.1 point

Does it matter? Bjarne Pedersen averaged near 10 for Plymouth and he was over 40 and way, way past his peak . Zagar would be nigh on unbeatable around Plymouth. will end the subject there as he hasn't signed and Klindt has.1 point

Yeah first season in UK a big challenge for Fraser. Tate and Antti will have a bit of added pressure also with us only having one experienced heat leader. I would like to think Jacob Hook could kick on and we could see a reinvigorated Jye Etheridge. Gonna be interesting watching how the wbole team performs in a 2025 Championship that looks a fair bit more competetive than the 24 season with some particularly strong looking teams. One thing for sure, it is gonna be vitally important to win our home meetings as an absolute minimum to have any chance of making the playoffs.1 point

Had the powers that be had more notice that Cardiff was coming to an end, instead of doubling up at Belle Vue, they could have re-assessed Odsal, track is there, just fix the safety issues on 3rd & 4th bends, far greater stadium capacity, 40th anniversary of 1985 world final, Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, funding may have been available from that source. I know it won't float everyones boat, but as a Dukes supporter from 1969-1997, it would float mine, too late for this year but what about 2027, 30 years since speedway ended at Odsal, or further ahead, 2030, 40th anniversary of 1990 world final. I don't believe Odsal is suitable for domestic meetings, but could certainly be considered for top level individual events.1 point

Maybe "all" is a bit strong and it's not really on topic but what's happened at Peterborough with the local plan just being totally ignored makes me bloody mad... people are paid thousands of pounds to write these plans and reports and they're so wishy washy that they mean virtually nothing in reality.1 point

Clubs need to start making their own plans for special fixtures and arranging friendly matches outwith the leagues and KO cup. I'd love to see some international invitational friendly matches.1 point

In this financial climate where clubs are trying to not lose too much money, think more are just concentrating on official league and Cup meetings1 point

Now that all teams are basically complete, This is my final table prediction for the Championship. 1. GLASGOW (Will finish top but might not win the league unless a change is made at reserve) 2. REDCAR (Powerful 1-5 with lots of improvement in the team) 3. POOLE (Cairns isn't eligible until 29th June, Hence why I've got Poole down for 3rd) 4. BERWICK (I wasn't expecting them to sign PK, Strong No.1/No.5 with a strong reserve all season) 5. OXFORD (Expect a slow start to the season, Will need Scott to return in full flow) 6. WORKINGTON (Strong at Home but they'll struggle away unless Vuolas & Zischke get dialled in) 7. SCUNTHORPE (Strong at H but they'll struggle A, I don't see average improvers in the team) 8. EDINBURGH (Good signings in Polis & Palovaara but they don't have a strong No.1/No.5 combo) 9. PLYMOUTH (Good signing in Nicolai Klindt but he doesn't have much back up elsewhere) CHAMPIONS (Poole)1 point

I can't help but feel sorry for Cardiff, especially all of those good folk who have already booked up accomodation, transport etc. Bit of a kick in the teeth really. As a Belle Vue fan, I am, of course, very pleased a Grand Prix has been given to Belle Vue, but Cardiff has really done very well for Speedway over the years. We should be very grateful to them. A very sad decision for me.1 point
