Fair play to the brum management they have put a solid looking team together when heat leaders were hard to come by. MJJ had a solid season in the polish league 2024 averaging more than Bewley, Fricke, Lindgren. don’t think he’ll be a slouch in the prem by any means6 points

That was the battle. The Peterborough Local Plan stipulated that if AEPG didn't include Peterborough Speedway within their plan for that parcel of land where the stadium sits then they should provide a like for like replacement on the remaining Showground land or at an off-site location. The first proviso was then of course knackered because PCC had already approved planning for the rest of the EoES. AEPG never had any intention of fulfilling any of their responsibilities regarding an on or off-site location for Peterborough Speedway and Peterborough City Council let them get away with it. Mick Bratley laid it out quite clearly at the appeal meeting that the club was only asking for what the Council's own policy stated. PCC then ignored their own local plan and those sporting safeguards that they themselves had incorporated when they moved from their sensible EoES policy LP31 of 2015. They threw Peterborough Speedway under a bus & will no doubt be clearing up the mess over the next decade along with most of their disastrous decisions. This has nothing to do with the Labour Government, it has everything to do with weak, incompetent, self interested, easily influenced councillors who only see £ signs & not people and community.4 points

Had the powers that be had more notice that Cardiff was coming to an end, instead of doubling up at Belle Vue, they could have re-assessed Odsal, track is there, just fix the safety issues on 3rd & 4th bends, far greater stadium capacity, 40th anniversary of 1985 world final, Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, funding may have been available from that source. I know it won't float everyones boat, but as a Dukes supporter from 1969-1997, it would float mine, too late for this year but what about 2027, 30 years since speedway ended at Odsal, or further ahead, 2030, 40th anniversary of 1990 world final. I don't believe Odsal is suitable for domestic meetings, but could certainly be considered for top level individual events.3 points

Yeah first season in UK a big challenge for Fraser. Tate and Antti will have a bit of added pressure also with us only having one experienced heat leader. I would like to think Jacob Hook could kick on and we could see a reinvigorated Jye Etheridge. Gonna be interesting watching how the wbole team performs in a 2025 Championship that looks a fair bit more competetive than the 24 season with some particularly strong looking teams. One thing for sure, it is gonna be vitally important to win our home meetings as an absolute minimum to have any chance of making the playoffs.1 point

Great signing, had seemed to be on wain but after replacing the injured Doyle for Grudziądz in the Ekstraliga last year he was solid for them.1 point

Just watched it again and still feel that it was not Emil's fault in deciding to to take the high road to pass. He had no where else to go.1 point

The only negative side to signing MJJ is that Brum will have to keep one eye on Grudziadz's performances this year. The Polish club are known to kick up a fuss when results turn sour in the Ekstraliga or if one of their riders has a big fall on a track that's not Polish. Jakobsen, Pedersen and Tarasenko are recent examples of that as well as Doyle being treated badly by the Grudziadz management after a season ending crash at KL.1 point

Decent team (No.6 bound to be someone half decent), Brum fans should be happy with that considering BV, Ipswich & Sheffield will always snap up the best riders. Will be found wanting on the road imo but once dialled in to PB then they should win more than a fair share of home meetings. Oxford are nailed on for the wooden spoon this year after making a mess of team building by chasing a pipe dream in Bewley.1 point

Yeah does look a good gater, smooth on the bike and appears to generate good speed on the inside line. Looking forward to watching him round the GT Tyres Arena.1 point

Probably try and spin the signing of Drew Kemp as having unfinished business. Something must have changed otherwise it is a big mess up allowing Harris to move on when his average would be quite handy now. Big own goal not having a full team in place when best season ticket offer was on. I know of at least five who refused to buy them without knowing the team and now they will just pay and go so unlikely to attend every match and the stadium will also miss out on the secondary spend. I suspect they are not the only ones sadly.1 point

Bring back the track rakers, that's what I say. They always done a great job in the day,you never got a build up of dirt then as it was brought back after every race, and there was no delay to the racing.1 point

Even as a Sheffield fan you can see the Emil one was due to him having to hit that dirt line that had built up next to the fence to get past Jack Holder, problem being there just wasn’t the room available to get man and machine through the gap as Jack had ridden (safely wasn’t fencing Emil) as wide as he could. Whereas the Ben Cook one was mid track on bend 2, he was nowhere near the high line when he crashed, that one was simply pilot error and with him being extremely lightweight he had no power to control yhe bike and it spat him off. Seen plenty of incidents where riders hit the dirt line on bend and it stops/slows them down due to the sheer volume, but again over last few seasons most accidents/falls have been pilot error. The Emil crash could have been stopped if as people say the dirt had been moved in from 3ft away from the fence to mid track but after a race or two it’s back there again and then fans whinge due to tractor being out again as you’d need possibly 4 track staff on each corner to rake that in with the size of Owlerton1 point

also tais comments on his tour he says riding the third and fourth bends at owlerton is the biggest adrenalin rush as hes never quite sure if hes getting round in one piece when riding wide because of the grip and visibility i very much suspect all the dirt being left so wide is a home advantage tactic but there is a fine line when safety is potentially compromised1 point

Bullsh!t. Unfortunately for you we all have eyes. Emil being the racer he is and type of fella he is, went for it but got caught up in that huge pile of dirt that gathered by the fence and it almost stopped him dead in his tracks. It’s dangerous and you know it. Stop trying to deny something which is blatantly obvious to everyone with a pair of eyes. Correct. Again, unfortunately for you we all have ears as well. Chris Holder literally admitted live on TV that there was an issue with the track and had been for some time.1 point

They just need to rake back the dirt that builds up near the fences.. You want riders to "fly around the outside" when watching Speedway... At Sheffield the dirt becomes too deep about a metre away from the fence to encourage riders to do that .. Or, the true racers, try to use that dirt and are never really 100% in control... The reputation gained isn't so much the crashes as they are infrequent when in context, its more the fact that when you watch riders trying to use the outside they "buck and rear" more than they should.. The track would deliver better racing if they just "thinned" the dirt up by the fence out a bit...1 point

The problem is fans don't always attend in numbers to make more fixtures viable, obviously this isn't the case for every fan but maybe the majority? 1) Fans say "we want more matches" 2) Clubs put on a challenge match to start the season 3) fans don't turn up in great numbers, say they want official fixtures only 4) clubs put on NDL matches 5) fans don't turn up, say they want Champions level racing only 6) because Edinburgh, Glasgow, Redcar & Scunthorpe all race on Fridays, to make 2 home & 2 away work, clubs have to ride on an off- race night 7) fans don't turn up, say they want Friday matches only. Not saying the current situation is great, just that every solution / alternative has flaws.1 point

I don't think hotel availability & cost are going to be a factor for any GP at the NSS. It's unfortunate for anyone who wanted to stay in the centre of Manchester this year that Park life (whatever that is??) Is on at the same time, but with the limited capacity of the stadium, hotels aren't going to be as in demand by Speedway fans as they were in Cardiff. I don't know what the capacity will be exactly, but Wiki says 6500 with temporary seating. I would have thought that Belle Vue fans alone and northern fans within an hours drive, or train journey of Manchester would take most of that, without the need for hotels. In Cardiff there were probably 5000 hotel rooms for an attendance of 40000 in it's heyday at the Principality. Manchester's hotel capacity far exceeds the stadium capacity. I'm not having a dig, but the GP at the NSS will be no more significant to Manchester than Stockport County playing at home. It's an unfortunate fact, but the number of people who regularly attend Speedway in the UK doesn't come close to filling a large stadium, so Cardiff relied on attracting a larger audience, outside of the hardcore fans, and initially, it did. In Cardiff, Speedway took over the City for the day and the atmosphere and vibe of the day was significant to anyone who was not a regular fan. In Manchester city centre, nobody will even know it's happening. Again, that's not a dig at Manchester, it's the same in Prague, great city but the Speedway is lost in it. I simply don't accept that hotel prices, costs, Covid or any of the other reasons stated in the Star, lamenting the loss of Cardiff were the reason for the declining attendances. Rugby & other major events still prosper there. For me, the significant factor was moving the date into the holiday season & pitching it against the opening day of the Premier League season and a full football league programme.1 point

The Klindt was superb for Worky in the treble win of 2018. I had so much more respect for him by the end of that season. It may have helped that he had his mates with him in the team in Rene Bach and Rasmus Jensen but he was a strong character himself and I have fond memories of him from that season. Nobody really knows how any signing will turn out but I think Plymouth have made a sound choice. Be great to see him at Worky.1 point

I can't help but feel sorry for Cardiff, especially all of those good folk who have already booked up accomodation, transport etc. Bit of a kick in the teeth really. As a Belle Vue fan, I am, of course, very pleased a Grand Prix has been given to Belle Vue, but Cardiff has really done very well for Speedway over the years. We should be very grateful to them. A very sad decision for me.1 point
