I think Scott is the strongest unsigned 2.00 rider, however he may not want to risk his average going above 2.00 knowing he'll get dropped. If it does go above 2.00 makes it harder for him to fit into the Oxford team as a double switch with Nicholls - not that's there's a guarantee he'll fit even on a 2.00 average. I think Jody Scott would be better off agreeing to ride 5 matches (& KOC) for Poole, then see what his average is before deciding wether to carry on? It's a very unique situation, of a rider knowing he'll be dropped, so he's bound to think of his average, compared to normal 2.00 signings.2 points

Tedious waste of time, the only council meetings I ever missed. Main purpose is so Peter Soulsby (or local equivalent) can get photographed with Gary Lineker or David Attenborough.1 point

The decline of the sport in GB is the obvious reason for Cardiff be no longer viable( relying on casual people turning up for a sporting event is not good business model).Discovery are relying on selling the sport to TV audience and don’t want massive outlay expenses ,hence the reason that they are running in existing venues some of which don’t have large capacities. The clubs and Countries pay to host the event and probably have to cough the money for Temporary Stands ect. .Thats what happened last year at Manchester hence the very high pricing, which backfired big time.Im sure Manchester will sell out this year though.(hopefully they will get the pricing right to sell it out though) Will there be profit in it for whoever Promotes it,is the question.1 point

I don't think it helps that they are situated quite low and far away from the track meaning that the air fence creates quite a shadow and when the riders go wide, as they tend to do on turns 3 and 4, they dissappear into this shadow making it quite difficult to pick them out, especially when wearing darker race suits caked in with dirt. I've mentioned it before but the sport should look at moving into the 21st century and fit led lights to the bikes. If Wiggy was still around he would have been all over led lights.1 point

What struck me when attending Cardiff was that the demographic attending seemed to be a lot younger to that of a club league match and that was even after discounting the traveling Polish fans1 point

I don't think hotel availability & cost are going to be a factor for any GP at the NSS. It's unfortunate for anyone who wanted to stay in the centre of Manchester this year that Park life (whatever that is??) Is on at the same time, but with the limited capacity of the stadium, hotels aren't going to be as in demand by Speedway fans as they were in Cardiff. I don't know what the capacity will be exactly, but Wiki says 6500 with temporary seating. I would have thought that Belle Vue fans alone and northern fans within an hours drive, or train journey of Manchester would take most of that, without the need for hotels. In Cardiff there were probably 5000 hotel rooms for an attendance of 40000 in it's heyday at the Principality. Manchester's hotel capacity far exceeds the stadium capacity. I'm not having a dig, but the GP at the NSS will be no more significant to Manchester than Stockport County playing at home. It's an unfortunate fact, but the number of people who regularly attend Speedway in the UK doesn't come close to filling a large stadium, so Cardiff relied on attracting a larger audience, outside of the hardcore fans, and initially, it did. In Cardiff, Speedway took over the City for the day and the atmosphere and vibe of the day was significant to anyone who was not a regular fan. In Manchester city centre, nobody will even know it's happening. Again, that's not a dig at Manchester, it's the same in Prague, great city but the Speedway is lost in it. I simply don't accept that hotel prices, costs, Covid or any of the other reasons stated in the Star, lamenting the loss of Cardiff were the reason for the declining attendances. Rugby & other major events still prosper there. For me, the significant factor was moving the date into the holiday season & pitching it against the opening day of the Premier League season and a full football league programme.1 point

The Spedeworth fixture list has been issued for the first half of the 2025 season with the first car meeting bing on 22nd March which means a full season of speedway should be possible if they can be fitted in between the car racing and if the BSPL will agree. Here's hoping things work out successfully.1 point

Wroclaw have announced that of the total number of season tickets they have made available for 2025 they have sold out 100%. They do make a number of individual match tickets available to purchase.1 point

Why would anybody involved in speedway be given a nationally recognised award for a sport thats been going down the toilet for years ? Whilst certain individuals have given their all within the sport, the likes of Woffinden , not only with 3 world titles but also his charity efforts , Harris, Nicholls etc, they get large financial rewards for it and , lets face it, no one outside of speedway has ever heard of any of them .1 point

It was a sarcasm Mr Worrall, you are talking like he's the Second coming of Christ. If Glasgow want to pin hopes on 2 guys potential who averaged a combined 2.56 then fair enough All I'll say is watching Sam McGurk who somehow averaged more than both of them was painful.1 point

Poole probably couldn't find any riders not racing in the UK who were prepared to risk getting injured on the Owleton wall of death...🤪0 points
