It seems nobody wants to put their head above the parapet and take on the chairman's job, including your Promotor. I think you will find current chairman runs a speedway club that does not go beyond its financial commitments. He also runs a thriving garage business. Lastly the back end of Lincolnshire must be over the border, since the EWR is in a completely different county of North Lincolnshire.3 points

The Spedeworth fixture list has been issued for the first half of the 2025 season with the first car meeting bing on 22nd March which means a full season of speedway should be possible if they can be fitted in between the car racing and if the BSPL will agree. Here's hoping things work out successfully.2 points

I'd suggest two reasons for the new setup. 1. A north/south split probably wouldn't work. The club's could possibly be split geographically but I very much doubt riders could, rendering the idea pointless. 2. I'd guess the idea is to let riders have two teams therefore double the fixtures. More rides the better at that level?2 points

In the considerably higher profile Formula 1 twelve Brits have become world champion. Of those only four have been knighted, and with one exception [Lewis Hamilton] they have all been after retirement. So why would anyone think a competitor who once finished sixth in the world in a considerably lower profile sport is beyond me.2 points

I have been spectating at ovals all my life, 4 wheels more than 2, and have seen some terrible lighting over the years. However, having been fortunate enough to spend a few years on the dangerous side of the fence, I can assure you that the riders won't be having the same issues as spectators as the visibility is far better on track than looking in from the outside. Worst track I raced at was Crewe which literally had light and dark patches on the straights and very little (if any) lighting on the bends.2 points

Surely it would be appropriate for Chris Harris to feel the touch of steel upon his shoulders? The man exudes all that is great about the best Britains and Cornishmen, qualities sadly lacking in today's spoiled snowflakes1 point

Only thing I can see about it in the regulations is this, though not sure if the second paragraph would apply since Victor has been away for some time, I'd assume Victor would be 5th in averages but maybe Edinburgh can choose. In any declaration where 2 or more riders hold an identical MA (cannot be determined by a 3rd or more decimal point) then the re-declaration must nominate the hierarchical order. Where riders have a previous MA, then the higher placed rider from the previous issue shall retain the higher position.1 point

How about a season opener against the Monarchs closest track and a fair few from Edinburgh attending. Should also get the Confidence up as you pump them what’s not too like.1 point

If true, that is a shame... looks like we're stuck with "South Stand". "John Perrin Stand"?1 point

Chris Morton also an MBE. Promoters Johnnie Hoskins and Ronnie Greene also honoured. Ivan Mauger is the only rider to also receive an OBE.1 point

If 'Briggo' and Mauger didn't get one, I would say that Harris, great rider though he is, has absolutely NO chance. 'Briggo' and Mauger were in a different league altogether. So, no offence to Chris then, no, I don't think that Chris Harris should "feel the touch of steel upon his shoulders".1 point

I’m sure someone on here knows or knows someone who knows. why was the NL made into what seems to be a closed shop, or could be in danger of becoming one, of NDL and then a new league was set up for everyone else NDT ! why not NDL Sth NDL Nth ?1 point

The size of the tracks may be similar in yardage but that’s the only thing.Osker will not find Armadale similar to ride as the tracks in Poland.1 point

Difference being, one called off before the season commenced, the other (as far as I know), has still not officially been called off.😁1 point

It was Bo Josefsson, Faafeng's replacement, that was the innocent party involved in the Hunter crash.1 point

No disrespect to Chris but Steve Lawson should have been honoured years ago.1 point

Great fixture planning home opener 18th April (Good Friday), then no home fixtures until 9th May 🤬1 point

I would say the opposite really Personally I think Poole should be hammered for this, why even accept the invitation (or if never formally done so say you would) allowing press releases and fixture planning etc to be carried out then pull out, it is a nonsense! The viability of accepting the meetings should have been looked into prior to doing so rather than months later once everything else was in place as you now have another club and fans in Sheffield impacted also. I’ve never understood the Poole bashing before as I’ve thought of them as the gold standard, a tidy and full stadium every week and levels of success that would be the envy of most clubs in any sport let alone speedway but I can now see the self interest and quite frankly f you attitude to everyone else in the sport others talk about.1 point

Fair play, some season for Brady. Hopefully he can pick up in the GPs like he's finished this year. Could put the cat amongst the pigeons with 3 home track events and last years home track in Sweden on the calendar.1 point

Whilst the new split version is certainly questionable from the point of view of using, primarily, the same riders I dont see how you can call it a ‘closed shop’. If a club wants to enter the NDL and can fit a full seasons fixtures in ( which isnt a lot ) then they can enter!1 point

It's not always about the winning of a league, sometimes it's about the first step, sometimes it's the only step towards a young person's future. If its the first step to becoming a gp rider or not, if you Don't give them a chance ,you will never find out. It would be nice if more clubs joined in and put more smiles on youngsters faces.1 point

It's still Matt's club though and he's in daily contact with Danny during the season as well as sorting out all the rider contracts. He was also very involved in the successful 'Save Coventry' appeal hearing as potential promoter/co-promoter of speedway which he stated would return at Championship level. Anyway changing the subject, the Poole R.E.F. are holding a quiz night on Weds 15th Jan at Broadstone Royal British Legion Club. Special guests will be William Cairns and his father who are travelling down from Aylesbury.0 points
