  3. The legendary Polish former National speedway team coach, Marek Cieslak, commented in sportowefakty.pl results of Poland’s sport Personality 2024 plebiscite announced yesterday. When mentioning fifth placed achieved by the 5-times world champion, Bartosz Zmarzlik, and problems with speedway, Marek Cieslak said this: It is a complex issue. We need the successes of our national teams, which we do not have. We have achieved the best league in the world, which has great viewership. The problem is that the Grand Prix series cannot keep up with this at all, and it is folding down. This is visible, for example, in the locations. There are no new ones, and in addition, large stadiums are slowly disappearing. The FIM and the promoter Discovery are responsible for this. In addition, the best riders in the world do not ride in the series. The recent nominations for wild cards and their translation into geographical terms are a joke. All this means that the Grand Prix arouses interest in fewer and fewer countries. I have the impression that even here (i.e. in Poland) it does not generate the same emotions as it used to. If it were, the successes and the phenomenon of Zmarzlik would have a much greater echo in the country. Do you think that it is time for Artiom Łaguta and Emil Sajfutdinov to return to the series? Initially I was against them, but now I think they should be in the series. Zmarzlik would also benefit from the presence of Artiom Łaguta or Emil Sayfutdinov. I have no doubt that he would still win, but then his successes, this rivalry with the Russians would arouse much more emotions. In this way, the audience would be larger. Please remember what rivals Tomasz Gollob had. He had to compete with Tony Rickardsson, Greg Hancock, Billy Hamill, Jason Crump, Mark Loram, Hans Nielsen, Leigh Adams, Ryan Sullivan and many other great stars. Each of them had papers for the title. Now the series lacks such figures.

  4. I think a premier league Wolves team running at Perry Barr on alternate Mondays with the Brummies would lose a significant amount and wouldn't do Birmingham any favours either

  7. While I agree largely with that, I find it strange that entain have never said a word about the situation at monmore, regarding the speedway or it future, we can all speculate about their intentions but we have heard nothing directly from them, as a stadium it’s in the financial interest to use the stadium as much as possible, they still doing the functions there as well as greyhounds and the speedway is of no inconvenience to their greyhound operation and with the rent and the bar/Resturant takings for what was 5 hours a week I would of thought it was a nice little earner for the stadium, however I’ve read that the people who made the decision are no longer there ? Entain are a huge company but are not exactly clean when it comes to finance, hence the huge fines they got last year for wrong doings, we as a club have done nothing to try to get us back at monmore and something doesn’t feel right to me about the whole thing

  8. Why not have Poole use their CL team and all the Sheffield riders start from a 15m handicap both home and away. IMO it would even things up a bit. Even better if a temporary set of tapes could be rigged up.

  9. Wednesday’s 3rd round(8th) from Albury is being streamed by them on PPV - no details from them yet. 10. theyre not so similar though bitza if the regular poole team raced sheffield , poole would be annihilated ,hence the need to bring in two top riders in order to be competitive. If it did go ahead with usual teams sheffield wouldnt be interested.Tho a decent enough crowd would turn up at poole to watch tai and the holders im sure most sheffield fans wouldnt bother to watch a poole champioship team especially if sheffield had easily won the away leg

  11. Anyone remember these Norsemen who only rode for a short time in the BL. Possibly others too https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/january-2025/norwegian-yearlings

  12. That is rubbish. Anything to have a go at Poole. Pathetic.

  13. I didn't say no one would go, just that Ipswich and Sheffield would attract more fans who pick and choose meetings. Although I guess it also depends on who Poole use as 'guests' anyway.

  15. As soon as MPT got a new Prem average he'd definitely sign for a Champ side on his new converted figure. It may even be sooner than that, it could be ride ONE match & he uses his converted ave. Then as soon as he rode for a Champ side, his converted ave would change back to his rolling Champ ave.

  16. Doesn't say much about poole supporters lisa if there's only two Premiership teams they'd turn up to watch

  17. And? Will mean a good crowd which is what all promoters strive for. Only other Prem team to get a big crowd at Poole would be Ipswich imo.

  20. I believe Anders Rowe will be left out, as Sheffield get priority. So just leave out the temporary number 7, and Rowe, and get two big hitters. Team, 1 Premier guest 2 Cook, 3 Lawson 4 Kerr, 5 Premier guest 6 Thomsen 7 Starke

  21. Well that's exactly what they're having to do bitza but when you do that it's no longer a championship team is it,but back to your initial point I maintain ther is a massive and possibly widening gap between the two leagues

  22. youd assume the two reserves replaced by two big guns

  23. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, if there's a low points limit, then there's always a chance a heat leader will be left without a team spot.

  24. From my point of view, Poole's involvement means another opportunity to watch speedway, which is great. All this fuss about a championship club being in a Premiership competition, is really little more than hot air because the standards are so similar, complainers are kidding themselves of the great divide, I think.

  26. Well at last a statement from wolves and it’s as predicted not a positive one, so what’s the next move because as we stand wolves are finished with no prospects on the horizon, is there a short term fix until a longer term solution is reached somewhere, track sharing with Birmingham, alternate Mondays ? A move to Buxton?(60miles ) the track is still there unused, would attract former stoke and Buxton fans too, not ideal solution by any stretch but something cause at the moment that something isn’t there, one other thing I would like to see is entain actually state the door is firmly shut at monmore because until now they have said nothing and even when it was announced that wolves were out that statement came via wolves not from entain themselves, as we stand we don’t know anything about entains intentions for the stadium, something that grates on me is the lack of fight for monmore, it has from day one and I know I’m not the only one

  28. They're certainly not the first to do it. I've got loads of matches filmed by Mike Bennett at Wolves where how much of the action you saw depended on who happened to be operating the camera at the time. If it was his regular cameraman then you'd see it, but if he was away they used to borrow someone who would normally only film the greyhound racing and they would religiously follow the leader, with Bennett amusingly berating him during his added commentary, "we did try and explain to him not to follow the rider at the front!". If anything, it's the abysmal drone camera that annoys me. It works very well on replays, but there's no need to use it during the live broadcast.

  30. I like it. Besides, it's only a bit of fun. Surely you're not ashamed of the fact that your very own home town is the only one in the UK with that special 4 letter word contained within?

  31. Birmingham wouldn't then be in the top division. Both Birmingham & Oxford are only there because those 2 clubs have gone.

  32. Good to see Steve Ribbons putting Mr Barrie in his place regarding his maligning of the Event. The majority of the crowd turning up knew what they were going to see. There was no need to “knock” the event through his SS Column.

  33. I think that all that talk of Star Sign defining how people think, live, act etc. is just a load of baloney. But then again, that is typical of us Capricorns.
