  1. 'Wayne Rooney in career change shock!'🤣 "With me and Barker at 1 and 5, nobody will get past us in heats 13 and 15 at the Coliseum", reports the Plymouth Herald.🤣

  2. Seriously, the Kennett/ RR/ guest chat hasn't been funny for about 2 years. Give it a rest man

  3. I'm not a Leicester fan, but I just wanted to say a big well done to you guys for running 2 teams at ND level. Such a refreshing attitude...as compared to that of an ar**hole club like Poole.

  4. It appears the comets are not in the NDL trophy league anymore, replaced by Leicester according to article in speedway star. Hopefully the northern junior league is still running Not totally surprised due to the make up of the southern based league, would be financially unsuitable imo for the Comets to take part, but need something at northside to bring the kids on. Maybe run a season long individual where each meeting has some heats and a final, and points carried on throughout the year, top 3 get prizes, surely some sponsors would put up some bike related prizes.

  6. Lets just hope if its him some sponsor is bank rolling him and that we don't have the club going under at the end of the season due to paying out massive wages.

  7. and you think Godfrey is going to accept blame for the situation ? Workington were mislead on the makeup of the ‘league’ and so took time in considering their options waiting to see if the other suggested team(s) were actually going to join but now someone else has been persuaded to join in so all is right in the speedway world, but you can keep blaming Workington if you wish.

  8. When I checked the season doesn't start until April 18th so I guess there's still quite a bit of time still left to declare the starting 1-7.

  10. Exactly ! Workington never said they were in ! The BSPL press release ( which Godfrey is head of ) said they were and now blames them for their hesitation when they never ever said they were in having been told , falsely, that other teams would be joining including a certain club in the north. What you read between the lines is your issue, Workington have never said anything so don't insinuate that its their fault.

  12. So Plymouth Facebook page is stating a shock signing that’s got to be Zagar surely wouldn’t class Klindt as a shock no disrespect.

  13. Hofmeister retired from racing in 1963, when he was still only in his twen-years, as he was taking over a business and moved from hometown of Abensberg to Kempen, where he became a mentor of the up-comign Manfred Poschenrieder. I saw Hofmeister "ride" at Abensberg only two years ago, when he did a lap of honor on a vintage speedway bike on the occasion of the local speedway stadium being named after him (Wack Hofmeister Speedway Stadium). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wack_Hofmeister_Stadium https://www.speedweek.com/speedway-racing/news/199208/Speedway-Stadion-in-Abensberg-bekam-einen-neuen-Namen.html https://www.merkur.de/bayern/schwaben/kempten-westallgaeu-kreisbote/nach-speedway-legende-josef-wack-hofmeister-ist-jetzt-ein-stadion-benannt-91902334.html https://www.tvaktuell.com/mediathek/video/speedway-abensberg-stadion-nach-legende-benannt/

  14. So Poole are starting the season until July when cairns is available, will they forfeit the bsn competition as you can't have a guest unless you have a declared 1 to 7 I'm not hiding, most people know me as lewy, as my name is wayne lewis which gets shortened to lewy. So Clive Tyers crawl out from under your rock and stop hiding behind childish nicknames

  17. speedway has been desperately short of a"white knight " for decades the amount of time ,effort and money to boost the sport has always been vastly underestimated I suspect WBD have now learnt this !

  18. Closest I can find is an Ebay listing for the programme. Very blurry but looks as though Phil Morris won it. Brent Werner, Robbie Kessler and Steve Masters also made the final. Newport Speedway Programme 1/2/2000 The New Year Classic VGC | eBay

  19. As much criticism as Plymouth get for not replacing missing heat leaders (Kennett & Covatti) how many other Championship clubs have been able to replace injured heat leaders in recent years? While there haven't been a great many long term injuries, clubs have struggled to even sign riders willing to ride on a temporary basis: Berwick (Schlein), Birmingham (Auty), Edinburgh (Pickering), Redcar (Riss / King) & Workington (Zischke) have all ran with guests & r/r in the last few of years rather than finding a temporary or permanent replacement. Berwick couldn't even find a replacement for a reserve, happy to run with guests for Borke. Only heat leader I can remember being replaced is Steve Worrall & that was by someone with a second string average. So while it's certainly not ideal Plymouth running two out of the last three seasons missing a number one, before people keep criticising them, think to yourself - would other clubs have done any different?

  20. We all know the main reason for poor crowds at SON ,apart from needless format.Hope they have learned something from pricing.

  21. The cancelled SGP has nothing to do with the BSPL. That’s a Warner/Discovery/FIM competition.

  22. It was a great annual brothers weekend. Somerset pairs followed by Cardiff GP (also Welsh open at Newport on Sunday). It was great walking through Cardiff and all was Speedway. Great times.
