  1. Probably because they wanted to get stronger in heats 2,8,12,&14? As much as I want Cook as part of a strong top 4, I would not have let go of Zischke or Vuolas, so could've ended up with a team like: Troy Batchelor 8.46 Craig Cook 8.42 Tate Zischke 6.96 Annti Vuolas 6.40 Vinnie Foord 3.90 Jack Smith 3.64 Sam McGurk 2.00 Total 39.78 So would Cook / Smith / McGurk score more than Bowes / Etheridge / Hook? I definitely wouldn't want a team with Foord starting in the top 5, I would not drop Zischke or Vuolas under any circumstances, so to create the strongest Workington team, it means either Cook or Batchelor had to go!

  3. Interesting and thanks for the reply especially as some people doubted whether he was injured at all.

  4. As much criticism as Plymouth get for not replacing missing heat leaders (Kennett & Covatti) how many other Championship clubs have been able to replace injured heat leaders in recent years? While there haven't been a great many long term injuries, clubs have struggled to even sign riders willing to ride on a temporary basis: Berwick (Schlein), Birmingham (Auty), Edinburgh (Pickering), Redcar (Riss / King) & Workington (Zischke) have all ran with guests & r/r in the last few of years rather than finding a temporary or permanent replacement. Berwick couldn't even find a replacement for a reserve, happy to run with guests for Borke. Only heat leader I can remember being replaced is Steve Worrall & that was by someone with a second string average. So while it's certainly not ideal Plymouth running two out of the last three seasons missing a number one, before people keep criticising them, think to yourself - would other clubs have done any different?

  9. Has anybody thought that Craig might just be a expensive rider who like people are saying let the team down. I know if he rode against us at Redcar Workington would have won. May be that made Workington chose Batchelor instead of Craig ?

  12. In the overall scheme of 2025 as a whole it may not be too relevant. However for those of us who enjoy using the close season to try and guess/work out who next seasons team will be, it also keeps interest in the Poole forum going, and to exchange ideas on whom it may or not be. Ultimately we have 3 months of this temporary rider doing his best even if with limited/inexperienced ability. So yes to those of us interested it would be good to know, bearing in mind it was Danny himself who stated that the full team should be announced before Christmas. Anyway hopefully we will find out in the near future.

  18. There were always cheaper options for Cardiff too. I used Premier inn as a comparison to the rates in Cardiff, because it's like for like. I was making the point that it's standard practice for hotels to hike prices around events. Manchester is no exception as the prices I stated show. 'Travelling out a bit' was an option at Cardiff too. There were plenty of cheaper options along the valley lines, with easy access to the stadium or city. We always stayed in Caerphilly and took the train. I accept that the GP alone, won't impact prices in Manchester in the same way as Cardiff, but that's because it's not a big stadium event in the city centre.

  19. Cardiff had plenty of options if you were willing to go on a 20 min train ride.

  20. Visit Wales has had its budget cut by 3.5 million so maybe they want to subsidise events with much better ROI. The Principality Stadium seems to have a cost model based around ROI to the Welsh economy rather than seeking to maximise return on the facility itself, but the financial travails of the WRU and cuts to Welsh Government funding seems to have made more acutely aware of the need to out on money spinning events instead of ‘community events’ - to the point they moved a Welsh rugby international to Twickenham in favour of a pop concert. Which is unfortunately the bottom line.

  21. I think the CL has a pretty good look about it next season, lots of new young faces which always makes things interesting. Poole don't look all that (they'll probably make me eat my words) Redcar looking favourites for me.
