Signing cairns is Poole's contribution to the development of British youth, cherry pick the best with the lure of ££££s without helping the development of the youngsters, just a throwaway item like Max Perry last season.6 points

Do you think all the current NDL teams breakeven or do you think some do it because it is right to provide a platform for riders to develop and see it as an investment worth making into the sport? Some may invest, others may trot out lame excuses.5 points

For those moaning that Poole don’t have an NDL team. Contact Matt or Danny Ford, tell them you are willing to put together a NDL team at Wimborne Road. Tell them you are prepared to cover all expenses, from stadium rental to paying the riders and getting the programs printed, to paying the BSPA for officials, to the advertising of the meetings. You keep all the gate money. And pay for the shortfall. If there’s a profit it’s happy days! If it’s a loss, you dig into your savings. What’s not to like? Go for it!5 points

Increased his CMA by 2.81 this year, super enthusiastic personality, interacts well with fans especially youngsters, captains the side again in 2025, presents himself well in tv media interviews e.g. BSN et al, and now asked back for his fourth year such is his perceived value to the club. A very positive character is Paco whose influence is bound to rub off on younger riders. If Paco is an example of an overrated rider by some, then others may say we need more Pacos in the sport.4 points

you really do sum up your club and not in a good way ive not been on the bsf long and often wondered about the dislike for poole but it soon becomes clear when you read a few posts3 points

Surely "the best supporters in the league" (as is often claimed) would turn out in sufficient numbers to support the NDL to at least break even level. Or is it just about winning? As others have said, NDL racing can be as good a spectacle, and at times better, than all other levels.3 points

Worst kept secret in Speedway William going to Poole, must be very exciting for the Poole fans to have secured such a precocious young talent. Do find it a bit contrived that a club that appears to do very little to develop young speedway talent professes that William feels Poole is the best place for him to develop and improve with a focus on providing him with the support , guidance, and environment he needs to thrive without undue pressure. Wonder how Max Perry views this.3 points
-
Which possibly sums up the kind of support the Poole Parasites have. Fans of other clubs clearly enjoy having the opportunity to see less experienced riders improving their skills in the NDL. Poole, however, appears to have a glory-hunting, bandwagon-jumping fanbase.2 points

You could if Paco was behind you and still win by half a straight. He has a cracking moustache though I will give him that.2 points

To explain Luke's national league average and how it is at the 7.7 level. During last season we used every national league meeting trying different stuff with set ups to learn what did and didn't work. It was never about winning it was about learning. We know that the bike used at scunny in the national league (which is not his championship bike) doesn't work at Sheffield. We know the scunny championship bike isn't great at Oxford but the national league bike is way better. The scunny championship bike goes well round Sheffield it was all a set process to help his development which we believe worked out looking back over the season. Even at scunny for national league we used different settings on the bike as both meetings were second half's of double headers and we know now have a good grasp of our equipment and what bikes do on different tracks hope this makes sense Ps his name is Luke not Harrison2 points

Of course double header would be easily done, start half an hour earlier and it would easily done before the curfew.2 points

The point is clear. Run a NDL team at Poole, and due to stadium rental on top of other issues, and you will lose a crap load of money. No one in their right mind would do that.2 points

Does it have to make money or just be self financing ?. Oxford are currently running 3 teams, I hope they can continue to do so.2 points

If any team have the support base to run an NDL team it is Poole. I feel it would be self financing. In addition the Poole fans would have more meetings to enjoy. Worky do not have the support levels that the Pirates enjoy, I wish they did. Not sure which bubble you feel has burst. Worky were intending on running NDL last season but were asked to join the Championship. Most riders had already signed for clubs. This put them at the mercy of rider demands to a certain extent because of limited supply.2 points

if no one breaks even why does anyone do it? got to look at the bigger picture for the good of the sport but the blinkers back on in Poole I see.2 points

Hancock doesn't exactly have a great record as a mentor! He has a great record of getting significant financial benefit from those he has mentored; with very little for the recipient of his knowledge, gained from it. To coin a phrase, no doubt he has grinned all the way to the bank. The Cairns family clearly have the means to give their clearly very talented son the very best chance of success he can have. Sport shows though that in the heat of battle, in that brutal first turn, no amount of coaching, mentoring will help you, it's brutal , its survival of the fittest and hungriest. It will be interesting to see how Mr Cairns develops.2 points

He is coming to one of the best run clubs in British Speedway and under the guidance of Middlo, who can blame him.2 points

It's funny how much Nigel Pearson was criticized for his commentary style when he was with us, and is now praised so much since his sad passing. Food for thought2 points

So glad that every other club is doing their bit.......!!🫠 Must go now - trophies to shine etc.1 point

Well it just didn't work the last time with the Buccs, despite them being successful (winning!!) on track. Even with admission at half the normal price and even less for season ticket holders and sponsors. It simply didn't catch the public's imagination compared to Pirates attendance.1 point

While I can’t comment on his big crash a few years ago in Aussie as I can’t remember how the crash happened. his 2 big crashed this year were not his fault and taken out in both. So I would t say he’s reckless1 point

who knows if they are even allowed to run more than one team, stadium owners might not allow it.1 point

Doesn't seem like there are any Poole fans who would like to see a Pirates NDL or NDT team then ? . I'm not sure Worky will be running a team in the NDT competition in 2025, could be something to do with the opposition all being way down south. Would be more sensible imo if fixtures were regional.1 point

It isnt just about money, I think there are many reasons why a rider rides for a certain club.1 point

Really why would you run meetings to lose money.Worky are finding out the bubble has burst to certain extent.( although the racing is top notch).1 point

Probably a case of they are not prepared to lose money rather than they can't be bothered. Does anyone break even in the NDL?1 point

Well said Lewy. They can't be arsed to run a team at NDL level, but want the NDL to exist for their convenience, run by other clubs. Poole Parasites1 point
-
Won't be happening in 2025 that's why there's a NDL Trophy Competition the original six NDL Clubs couldn't/wouldn't do more meetings.1 point
-
Yeah Poole has to be a pressure club to join because they are so driven by success. No doubt they will have offered William the biggest financial package which if your in a position to do that who wouldn't.1 point

yep quite agree its an exciting prospect and great to see the young stars back although would prefer them to be the starlets as they were in the 80s & 90s let the whingers whinge1 point

Not a pop at all, I just believe your boy is too good to race against newbies and part time second strings. Ive heard you say “its all about track time “ so knew your thoughts. Im against doubling up , as thats lost the sport any credibility, so trebling up is just plain wrong.1 point

I must have missed Bewley Flat-earthing, "can-pushing", and denying the moon landings. All I've seen on his socials is mountain-biking in Wales, eating goats milk yoghurt for breakfast, and riding (and blowing up) an upright Godden.1 point

I like it. Besides, it's only a bit of fun. Surely you're not ashamed of the fact that your very own home town is the only one in the UK with that special 4 letter word contained within?1 point

Apart from the insane repetition of the same phrases, I think that KT does a very good job. Because of long delays from the weather at the Malilla GP, Kelvin had to talk for nearly 4 hours non stop on live television, and that's not an easy thing to do believe me. It takes linguistic skills that most on this forum probably won't possess, and who the hell cares about odd mistakes.1 point
